We will be at WDW the week of my daughter's birthday, although departing two days before the actual day. We will be staying at the All Star Movies this year, although last year, we were at the Contemporary, as part of a business conference. At the Contempo, I asked at the desk it the housekeeping staff would put some little something in the room in honor of my daughter's birthday. The left her a HB card signed by Pluto (favorite character) and balloons:

The gift was from her mom and me and the stuffed animals were already hers, lest anyone get the idea that WDW showered her with all sorts of goodies. The card and balloon were all they provided, and were a very nice "extra" that delighted our daughter.

Question: Will the AS/Movies do this, also, considering that they are a "value" resort and the Contempo is a deluxe?

Thanks for the feedback.

Sarah did a great job making a Star Wars basket for my group. She was very helpful. Our basket was in our room when we returned from the park on check-in day. Sorry the kids tore into so i don't have a picture. Hope this helps. Have a great time!

Complimentary services like that aren't distinguished by the level of resort you're staying in. They're as available in a value as they are in a deluxe. Unfortunately, because they are free, there's just never a guarantee that they'll be able to provide something. It all depends on their staffing and if they have a runner available to take care of your request. Definitely go ahead and ask.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks a ton.

1) The balloons, card, and autograph are done by Front Desk CM's.
2) They are delivered by the Front Desk "runner".
3) These are available at ALL resorts.
4) As mentioned, staffing can make a difference.
5) However, if they are busy or short on people, it would be the next day.
6) VERY SELDOM do they ever fail to come through.

RS: all good info and I thank you for taking the time to share that with me.

Sometimes if you just mention that you are celebrating something, they will leave things in your room. That is what happened on our Disneymoon at POP in July 2005. We didn't ask for it; they just did it! <3 We got a 'Just Married' balloon when we checked in, and we recieved a card, a framed and signed pic of the characters, and a bouquet of princess suckers in the room!

I just rec'd an email of pics of the 2 gift boxes that I ordered from Memories By Sarah for my trippie to ASMO next month. All I can say is WOW As well as worth every penny. All of the items in the baskets were purchased by her for market price, and the packaging & delivery charge were more than reasonable. I am going to try to post a pic of my 2 gorgeous gifts for my family (I will cross my fingers and toes now)

Well, what do you know? I did it! must have been a really early bit of pixie dust :woohoo:

Ok so what is in them and how much did it cost? I see refillable mugs (with the lovely winter scene  ), b-day pins, autograph book?, and character plush. What else? That looks similiar to what I'd like (minus the plush) and I'm curious as to the price and delivery fee if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!

On our last stay at POP it was DH's bday & we got something -

Nice, right?? Well when we got home...we went thru our charges & didn't remember making a purchase at EverythingPOP for thirty something dollars. Come to find out they charged us for that stuffed Mickey Mouse!! My CC people didn't make us pay for it as from the sales receipt they saw it was not our signature but How do you like that!!!

We got balloons and a Princess Cinderella signed card in Feb. at Pop. I mentioned that we were celabrating both DD's B'days when I made ressies, but didn't say anything at check in. We were so surprised they remembered!

At the Polyn, we were celebrating my B'day and just mentioned it at check in. I got balloons and a signed Mickey card. It was a very nice surprise also. We weren't expecting anything eithor time.

I spoke to Sarah several times through e-mails, until I had everything fig'd out exactly right. I have hair ties a and a keychain for me, a hat and keychain for my dd15, and a keychain for DH. I got a light up spinny mickey toy for the baby. I asked for some tubes on M&Ms minis (2y old loves em) and some nuts, as well as a couple of cookies, and choc dipped mickey Krispie treats.

The smaller box is for my best friends b/ day. Just the plush, a keychain, a cookie, and a Krispie. There are b/ day pins for DH, and B/F. Everything in the boxes I paid retail (what Sarah paid) for delivery & packaing, it was just $25 for the first box and $5 more for the second. So worth it. The fam doesnt even know yet, and I know I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

My guess is that there was simply a mix-up between the runner and guest services. I'm sure it should have been put through as no charge, but perhaps the runner thought it was an order placed by the family. I'm glad that your credit card company adjusted it for you. I think I'm just the type of person who jumps to the "glass is half full" conclusion though.

OP, I know any of the resorts can leave the surprise balloons/card. HOWEVER it doesn't always happen, it is an occasional surprise, from my own experience. We have celebrated (noted on the reservation, and mentioned at check-in every time): 5 birthday trips and 1 anniversary ~ TWO of those trips, we got balloons (with cards). So FOUR of those trips, nothing. (Not that we expected or planned on it, of course -- just wanted to mention that if you truly, really want something special in the room, I would order something. Things that you order and pay for yourself are more of a sure thing, of course).

have a wonderful trip!!

My son got balloons and cards at ASSports last July. We told them about the birthday at check-in, and I left notes about it on the tip envelopes daily. We got towel animals every day but his birthday. That day we came in to the stuffed animals arranged around the balloons.

I am sure, just imagine our surprise when we realized we were charged for a stuffed Mickey for a 30 year old :lmao: It was taken care of so thats all that matters. And of course we are the type of people who like to keep track of our money but I think many people wouldn't have even noticed or cared about that charge. Not me, I am a penny pincher ;)
