I think I read here or on another board - having senior moments lately,LOL - that you can request something like a cake for a special occasion at dinner and there is no extra charge for this. Could this be true and if so how do you go about requesting this? My nephew's birthday is the day before we sail on June 16th. The entire cruise is a "special occasion as I am taking two nephew's , their families plus my sister on this trip. There will be 10 of us. I have never even met one nephew's wife or his two girls and only met the other nephew's kids briefly two times. I am so excited and want to do everything possible to make this be a special time for us all.

I have learned so much from all of you and wish everyone a fantastic trip.

Connie,

We just returned today from the Wonder where we celebrated our son's first birthday. You need to advise DCL of the special occasion you wish to celebrate prior to your sailing, and advise them which night you wish to celebrate it. They will bring a piece of cake (not a whole cake) and sing to the birthday person when dessert comes out.

Hope that helped!

They brought out a whole cake for my son last week. If you request it on the first night it's only slices. You have to give them 24 hours notice.

We are just back from the May1 Wonder and 2 of my children have birthdays in May. When I booked they asked if we would like to celebrate their birthdays. Great idea! They both received a "celebration" cake like the ones you can order for the room out of the gift brochere and a birthday pin. It had some type of strawberry mouse on top of white cake and had a white chocolate disney cruise ship on top. Our waiters were so great because my youngest felt left out and pouted that he didn't get a cake and they brought him his very own also! Ahh the DIsney Magic! :earsboy:

We celebrated my birthday on our first night, and I received the whole cake, not just a slice. We had let our TA know during the planning process, and she placed the request to DCL. The cake was delicious - and just as described by msbinky. :flower:

I guess it depends on the kindness of your waiter if you wait until you're on board. While arriving for our dinner one evening, we mentioned that someone in our party had a birthday and asked if she could have a birthday cake. At dessert time the waiter brought out the cake already mentioned and everyone in our party sang "Happy Birthday".
