Birthday cake @ Hoop De Doo

We will be at HDD on July 21st which will be my son's 17th birthday. So I called yesterday to order a birthday cake and the lady on the phone discouraged me from ordering She said there is a part of the show that will ask about birthdays and at that time I should point my son out and he will be brought into the show. And she added that strawberry shortcake is included in the meal and that I can ask a server to bring his out with a candle. SHe did talk me out of ordering .....but I have untill 48 hours before to order anyway.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone ever ordered a Birthday cake at the HDD? Is it because bringing it out would interfere with the show? I'm not sure what to do. I thought about just having a cake delivered to our room instead.

Just made ADR for our DD 5th B-day at the HDD. I was told the same thing about the candle but was told to call 48 in advance to order a special cake for her. The CM really encouraged me to do so. I really want everything that day to be about her so I will definately be ordering one. I wouldn't let them dicourage you from doing it if you'd like too. If it was a problem I don't think they'd offer it.
I have also ordered 2 other cakes for her on her B-day. One at breakfast at CM and one from the bakery to be delivered to the room w/ other things! (You think we'll be caked out?).Go for it!!!!

Back when I made this reservation 15 months ago, they did say no problem and gave me the number to call and told me to give them at least 24 hours notice. Now 2 weeks away, I was calling to order, and was discouraged from doing so.

We do have a birthday Wishes Cruise the next night. BUT our HDD is on his actual birthday, and he doesn't like Strawberry shortcake
