Birthday Cake Help!

We are taking my daughter to Ohana's for her 9th birthday. Should we order a cake in advance or just let her order a dessert from the menu? Which do you think would be better? We did a cake 2 years ago from Grand Floridian Cinderella dinner and loved it.

...perhaps from a Disney CM? We have dairy allergies throughout our family. Is it possible to order a dairy-free cake with enough notice? If so, from where? Each individual restaurant? Is there a central "bakery"? If not available, what are the rules about bringing our own cake due to dietary restrictions?

I've been wondering the same. Both of my ds' and I will be celebrating birtdays during our upcoming visit. I'd love to hear some input.

I'm not sure about the cake, but I guess I think getting a "Cinderella Slipper", from one of the restaurants at the Grand Floridian would be really special. You can have "Happy Birthday...." put on the plate and a candle in the little cake that comes with it. You can't get that for the Poly though, but since a few of you asked, I thought I'd mention the idea.
