Have a few questions about how to get him a cake delivered to the royal palace when we have our dinner there on our assigned night. Do you have to order a cake before you leave port or can it be done once onboard? Will they deliver it to table or to stateroom? Thanks in advance

I'd be interested to know the answer to this too as we're doing our cruise for my sisters 30th birthday

If you want a CAKE cake, you need to pre-order it (info on the Gifts and Amenities page) and there is a charge depending on size and type.

If you just want a free little chocolate mousse-like thing delivered to the table and them to sing, just speak to your server.

I believe things have changed over the last few years in regards to cake. If you want to order a cake it will cost you.

If you just want them to bring the generic "dessert" cake after dinner than that you can request the night before.

I believe there is a cake order form that lists the fillings and such. They range from $25 to $144 depending on size and type. Seven days notice before the cruise is required.

Found it....here go you...the cake order form is at the link:

Thank you for posting this! I had a look at the celebration cakes but it's too much just for the 2 of us, I think I'll just go with this option!

Yours servers will also sing and bring him a birthday button to wear.

I just wanted to add that in January, I was able to order a birthday cake at guest services when we got onboard. I had tried to do it in the week prior to the cruise but as mentioned above, it needs to be at least a week before sailing. I was told to check with guest services to order while onboard.

Guest services had a binder with pictures and options to order. I could pick a time and day for delivery either to the stateroom or to the dining room. I ordered a gluten free chocolate cake and we were very happy with it. It actually tasted good lol. Had it delivered on his bday which was CC day. When we came back from the island it was in the stateroom waiting for him.

Thank you for asking! I didn't even realize this was an option!

Regarding ordering cake on-board, were there any GF non-chocolate options? Would you share the cost? Thank you.

All I need is a Mickey Bar with extra sprinkles...birthday, anniversary, new glasses, whatever. We ordered a cake in advance for our granddaughter's graduation celebration on our recent Alaska cruise. We told all the servers and they asked when we wanted it, with or without ceremony, surprise or not, etc. It worked out great and there was some left over which they brought back the next night. You can also take it to your room if you wish. Great fun!!

I remember there was at least a vanilla or chocolate cake that could be made gluten free, I ordered the smallest one and I think it was 21.00.

If you go to Post #4 you will see the link I posted. That will bring you to the page that has the cake order form to download. All the types and prices of the cakes are on the order form.

Just curious, did you guys chose with celebration? My mom has teased she will be ordering me a cake for my graduation, and I didn't realize that Disney might have a song and dance for it

We asked them to make it a surprise for one of the evening meals. They presented it to our granddaughter, then maybe a dozen servers stood by our table and sang, "Happy Graduation to you..." No dancing, just this semi-professional singing. The cake was the hidden Mickey one with chocolate throughout.

Our friend ordered one for her husband a couple of years ago. Here's a photo of it.

Ahhh, the beauty of the inconsistent DCL policies. :rotfl: We were specifically told they could NOT keep it for us and bring it back the next day, we had to take it back to the cabin.

Just a thought...on the Dream there is a cool little sweet shop called Vanellopes with all sorts of desserts. Perhaps go see them once on board and see if there are any special dessert options you can get instead of ordering the very large cakes from G&A. Here are some of the dessert options other than ice cream and gelato. Cookies, character apples, fudge, rice crispy treats, cupcakes, chocolate bars, macaroons, truffles among other treats.

Here is a link to Vannellopes on the Dream via Disney Cruise Line Blog.

We were told the same thing all 4 times we ordered cake last year for our birthday cruises. They did cut them up nicely and put them on a nice rectangular tray with a lid so we could keep it in the fridge though. Once something like this has been cut into and served, they should NOT be putting it back into a place where other food is kept to serve to everyone else, so it made sense to us.
