CM's will be our first dinner on our first night :cool1: . My DD and I would like to get a birthday cake for my son in law for this dinner. I'm just wondering, since CM's is a buffet, is this doable?
I would just get the 6" cake I've read about on these boards. Would they do this at a buffet? Would the waitress bring it out and we could all sing Happy Birthday? Kind of a stupid question I guess, but just wondering if it makes any difference that it is a buffet rather than a regular sit down order off the menu type restaurant.

Thanks,Karen:)

When DS was turned we took him to Chef Mickeys for his birthday & they brought him out a cupcake, card & had everyone sing to him. Which was fine because the desserts at CM's are pretty good.

When we took DS to CM for his birthday dinner, they brought him a cupcake during the Celebrate song. He had a signed placemat, but we didn't get a card and nobody sang for us.

We didn't mind at all, we really liked what they did for us, but I wanted to offer a different first hand experience so nobody expects what PP posted (about the card and singing) and it's good to have PP's experience posted so nobody expects what we got as the 'norm'

RE the cake - you can order a bigger cake if you want, we opted not to only because we were already at a buffet and DS (turning 2) wouldn't miss a cake on his birthday - he was happy with the cupcake.

There is an 'official' cake thread on this board with all of the info on ordering cakes and even many pictures of the cakes.

Thanks Kae and Tricia. My confusion about this was if they would bring out a birthday cake as it is a buffet with minimal waitress interaction. But if they bring out a cupcake I guess they could/would just as well bring out a 6" birthday cake. I have read the birthday cake thread, well some of it anyway, but couldn't find out wheather the birthday cake was doable at a buffet restaurant.

Karen:) :)

Yep, we ordered a 6" chocolate cake for my dad's birthday. Our waiter brought it out and the characters tried to steal it. :)

I'll post a picture as soon as I can. I think there's a pictures of it in my dining review.

Wow, thanks BabyPiglet. Just what I needed to know and I would really love to see that picture.
Now, did you call ahead of time or did you just ask for the cake at the podium when you checked in? I think I read somewhere you could do that  although I would be more comfortable ordering it ahead of time.

Karen :)

Well it was a little confusing trying to order it. At first I called POP Century to see if they do it, they don't. They told me I should pick a restaurant and call them directly to see if they bake cakes. So I got the number of Chef Mickeys and called, the hostess answered. She wasn't sure so she said she'd have the chef call me back. Finally the chef called me and said that they definitely do it and asked what kind I wanted. I ordered the chocolate cake, white chocolate filling and chocolate icing.

It was delicious! We boxed it up to take it back to the room. Suggestion though, if you box it up remember to take utensils! We didn't have anything to eat it on or with. :rotlf:

Thanks everyone, I'll call CM's to arrange the cake as it gets closer to our arrival date :cool1: ..April 26 - May2 :yay:

Yes we ordered a small chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and a picture of Minnie on the cake for my b-day...it was very good. When our server brought it out to me all the characters came with him and "sang" Happy Birthday to me
