Agreed. If you are celebrating your birthday there, wear the pin (as long as the "Happy Birthday" doesn't bother you.) My granddaughter loved that people wished her a HB, and now searches for people wearing a button and wishes everyone a HB....Here is my opinion, take it for what it is.
If you are going to Disneyland to celebrate your birthday(s), get the buttons and wear them with pride.
If you just happen to be going to Disneyland around the time of your birthday, skip them.
We are celebrating our anniversary a month early at DLR in July...but I might not wear it when I'm on my own in the parks during the day! 
I think I'd feel silly wearing a birthday pin, but knowing that the ticket-takers could see that it wasn't my birthday when I go through the turnstiles.
. He did however rock a button he got for being the first dole whip of the day. His "first whip of the day" button was cool, but the birthday one was anathema.
