For our next trip, we will in fact be celebrating my birthday on 9/11

We have two reservations that day... and both we're given notations about it. I didn't ask either, was just small-talking with the CM and when it came to that day and she said she "took care of it." It was nice of her, but I honestly wasn't looking for anything like that be noted.

So here's my question:

It appears that people get little "extras" for there birthday or special event on occassions. None of my other reservations state its my birthday, but I plan on wearing my Birthday Pins and Buttons through out the week.

Does anyone have experience in this type thing? Just showing up and getting a little surprise at the end of your meal cause the CM noticed it was your "birthday?" As I said I'm really not looking for anything... but was curious!

Last year we were at WDW for DD's 8th birthday and went to the Princess Breakfast in Norway. The year before we were at DL for her 7th and went to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner. She had buttons both times and it was noted on our reservation. She got lots of Happy Birthdays but nothing special at either meal. We didn't tell her to expect anything special so she wasn't disappointed. She only wore her bithday pin on the day of her birthday so I don't know how other restaurants would have treated it.

For my DD's fifth birthday, we planned a birthday meal at Crystal Palace. When we arrived, our table had been decorated with Mickey confetti. She did get a card signed by the Pooh characters also. We paid to have a small cake (you can order one in advance, if you want something particular, or you can buy one on the spot--we did this and it was yummy!).

We'll be celebrating my DD's 8th bday there this year! I am going with the attitude of hoping for a bunch of CMs to just say "Happy Birthday". Anything else will be a bonus.

Last year, I made no special notes on any of our reservations. But, I did wear the Birthday button. At Whispering Canyon Cafe, my server noticed the button. I got a special drink, and a birthday dessert. They made a big deal of it too. The whole crew brought the dessert out, while making the entire restaurant sing "Happy Birthday". Then when I blew out the candle, the servers swooped in and devoured the entire dessert. It was pretty funny. They did bring out another dessert for DH and me. I was not expecting anything. So, it was a nice extra.

I was also given some Mickey stickers at one of the stores in DTD. Plus, most everyone I encountered(not just CM's) wished me a Happy Birthday!

For my birthday at CM the table was decorated with confetti and a birthday placemat

For our 10 year anniversary it was noted on all our dinner and breakfast reservation and the hostess and waiter wished us a Happy but that was it...

We were at WDW for DH's birthday last year (and will be again this year). I went and got him a birthday button that morning and made him wear it. We had breakfast at H & V -- he got a birthday card signed by all the characters and our waitress. At MGM, he got a free drink from a CM. I ordered a cake for him that night at LTT and he got sung too (there were ALOT of birthdays that night at LTT). Throughout the day -- he was sung to by many CMs and some that weren't CMs-- just happy guests. It was really fun.

Right now I'm trying to figure out which TS would be the biggest source of embarassment for his birthday this year

Just wearing that birthday pin causes all sorts of fun reactions, from CMs as well as guests. "Happy birthday, Tony!" ... and I'd wonder how folks knew me.

At LTT, we didn't say a word about it being my birthday, but apparently it was noted at check-in by the hostess who spotted my pin ... there was confetti all over our table, and that apple cobbler-y dessert that comes standard was delivered to our table with a candle and a LOT of fanfare. I especially enjoyed one CMs comments about "celebrating with this young patriot." And, I got a birthday card autographed by the characters in residence.

Fun stuff.

I got a frame and a happy b-day balloon once waiting for me in my room at the Polynesian (years ago). It was nice and completely unexpected.

:goodvibes

My aunt got a free cake at Cosmic Ray's the other day and I believe my cousin got the placemat and cupcake at Chef Mickey's as well.
