Birthday at O'hanas?

We are planning a birthday dinner at O'hana's for 7 yr old DD...has anybody done a birthday there? Do they sing Happy birthday? What kind of dessert would she get? Also, what time to they do they start doing hula-hoop/coconut races as we want to make an early PS, but don't want to miss them. Thanks!

When we ate there last year, we happened to just mention that the day before was our DS's birthday. After the fantastic pineapple and caramel finish, we turned around and there came a huge piece of cake with several CMs singing. We were all surprised. I don't know what they do if you actually planned it.

We saw several birthdays being celebrated. The server would announce it was Cousin so-and-so's birthday and sing Happy Birthday. I saw them bring one person a cake. For some of the birthdays, I saw the hula-entertainer go over there and give them birthday flower leis.

I have no idea how much notice they gave. It seemed like a popular birthday place because I don't think we saw another birthday being celebrated our entire trip.

About the coconut races, etc. I think it's pretty much continuous because there were 2 separate coconut races during our dinner.

we had our dd5's bday this past 3/17 there. it was really nice.we called about 2 wks in advance and ordered a cake, they had different sizes to choose from. it was pretty expensive for the cake. the cake had mickeys on it.when we were shown to our table, they kept calling her princess and gave her a princess birthday card that was also a place mat, w/the characters signatures. mickey and chip and dale came over while we sang happy birthday, and they announced it to the restaurant. as for the races, i think they did them about every 45 min to an hr. we were there during 2 of them.

I was just at Ohanas on December 6th. I normally love Ohanas. However, we were celebrating my daughters 2nd birthday and I wanted the service at least to be good. We ordered an 80.00 cake. The service was not great. The table view was not great. And they waited forever to bring the cake - the baby was cranky - we were tired. I had to ask them about the cake because they were taking so long. They did not know how to get us the rest of the cake back to our room (no cake box??) I was not thrilled. No card, no festive anything (like a ballon or sprinkles or just some little thing) but they did sing happy birthday.

I was just there the past weekend celebrating my birthday on the 11th. They brought out cake & sang happy birthday to me. The food was great as usual and we had the most fun!!!

We've celebrated "Grandma's" birthday there for the last 5 years

We don't make any advanced arrangements or get any special cake, but it seems that the bigger deal we make about it the more they "play along" :jumping4:

Like with most things Disney-if you are open to the "Magic" and let the cast
members know it, they'll try and make it happen for you

We were just there 12/3 to celebrate a birthday. We had been there several times in the past so we expected this to be alot of fun. I ordered the cake several weeks in advance. When we got there from the time we were brought in (no stops for greeting or no bread) the service was horrible. The waiter made no effort to be friendly. The service was terrible. When they finally brought the cake out and we sang Happy Birthday, we had had it. I complained the following day to the GM of Ohana. He said he would look at who seated and who greeted us. He gave us his card and asked us to return in the future. I don't think I will be doing that. There are many other restaurants that I have enjoyed better.
