My youngest daughter will be celebrating her 6th Birthday at MK in a couple of weeks. (She also celebrated her 1st, 3rd and 4th Birthday at MK.)

Anyway, we get her the "It's my Birthday" button at the Hall. We tell the CMs that she's celebrating and while they do say "Happy Birthday!" - we are quickly ushered along our merry way.

Any tips on how to get her more "noticed" on her Birthday at MK? She will be dressing up as Anna this year and I purchased a "Birthday Princess" sash. I know lots of people have Birthdays at DW everyday, I just want to make her day REALLY special.

The only tip I can offer is to just be happy, grateful and enjoy yourself. CMs and other people in general will be more drawn to people who seem like they are enjoying themselves. Interact with those who interact with you, but don't try to force it. Don't try to manufacture the magic, because when you do it's not magic . I think you're better off investing your energy into being grateful for the wishes you do get rather than focusing on how to get extra attention from people who are already going out of their way to wish a happy birthday.

Yes, I am aware that probably sounds harsh and I honestly do apologize I just can't think of a way to say it where it sounds nicer so I apologize because I know it sounds worse than I mean it to.

I think this is good advice. I'm sure she will enjoy the day regardless how many people make a fuss.

Yep- like the previous poster said- just be happy and in good spirits.

Try not to have any grumps in the group- never helps. We kind of had a bad experience at Wilderness Canyon Restaurant and I really don't blame the CMs for it b/c my husband was being a real grump who didn't look like he was open to any pixie dust (oh to have a solo trip:rotfl2:)

I know she'll have a great time - we always do. I suppose I should have worded my question differently. I didn't know if there was something we were missing out on to make the day more special, KWIM?

She'll have her button and sash, we plan on dining at BoG

I agree that it's best not to expect anything specific and just be happy to be there with her on her birthday. :) If you want to make sure her day is extra special, what can you set up yourself that would get her excited? Like booking a carriage ride for the birthday princess, or some other special extra you don't normally do.

One trend I have noticed is families who are staying on property (at one of the Resorts) are decorating their hotel windows - putting up "Happy Birthday" banners or their child's favorite characters. You can search the Internet and gets TONS of ideas for decorating the window. Doesn't cost much at all, and is really fun for kids.

When our daughter was 10 (and just on the verge of growing up and losing that sweet innocence of childhood) we went to WDW for her birthday. On the morning of her birthday, I got up early and added a bit of Magic to the room - on the nightstand, I sprinkled "fairy dust" that Tinkerbell left, and again on the vanity in the bathroom. On the mirror, I taped a message that I had printed out and home and brought in my suitcase. I made it look like it was on "fairy stationary" and it was also very sparkly! I even sprinkled a bit of glitter just outside the door to our room on the sidewalk. We brought our own "happy birthday" banners from home (those cut out letters that are pre-strung together) and some crepe paper. Cost for all of that was less than $7

We spent the day at MK, and the Magic continued. We also threw a few pennies into fountains for birthday wishes (you have to turn around and throw those over your shoulder backwards LOL), and when we ate lunch at The Plaza, the staff brought out a birthday cupcake, and fussed over her - every one of them stopped by the table to wish her happy birthday. :)

As the day progressed, we took TONS of pictures and we even had a little "birthday photo shoot" where she stood in front of the castle and did all the crazy poses she wanted to.

Along the way, it seemed like a thousand people said "Happy Birthday Emily!" to her, and she didn't stop smiling all day! Because it started with Magic, all day long she looked for - and found - the magic on her own!

You have to remember something... what is Magic to you and I as adults is VERY different that what is Magic to a child. Her memories of the day will be fully influenced by YOUR attitude (and the others traveling with you). If you keep telling her what a wonderful day it is, and how much fun it is to have a birthday at Disney World... she will look around and see Magic everywhere.

I promise. :)

It's easy to go to WDW and spend (literally) a small fortune on "experiences". But the best days our family has - every time - are the days when we just go, and enjoy *being there*. Together, as a family, we find and make our own Magic. Those days, those memories, are what brings me back to Disney again and again.

Don't get caught up in grand gestures or experiences - just focus on the smile on your sweet little Princess, listen to her laughter, watch her face light up with joy. You'll all have the best birthday day ever!

I'm no expert. Just another mom who is leaving in 20 days to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday at WDW. Every one of them has been Magical!

When we celebrated my Dad's birthday at BOG the server brought him a card signed by CM and special birthday grey stuff. Another time while waiting for our pic with the beast a little girl dressed as Belle recieved the best interaction I've ever seen with him. They danced and he proposed to her. It was precious! Don't know if your daughter is a huge Beauty and the Beast fan but you can always purchase a cheap costume before your trip and have her change into it right before dinner.

my DS celabrated his 13th birthday at Disney.our family tradition is to have baners and ballons around the fire place with the cards and presents in front ready for the morning of the birthday day. when DS was asleep we put baners and ballons up in our room so he woke up to them along with cards and presents.

we let him pre choose where he wanted to go that day (his choice was swimming at aquatica) and where to have his birthday meal, his choice was Chef Mickey's, so we pre ordered him a surprise Mickey birthday cake with his name and age on, a CM bought the cake to the table, he was very surprised and really liked it. when it was time to leave they put it into a box so we could take it back to the hotel. (the SMALL piece of cake that we were allowed tasted very good, DS is a bit of a cake monster he ate a slice every day for breakfast) when we got back to our room there was a card from mickey and several towel animals waiting for him, it was a nice end to a lovely day.

we didnt do this but i believe you can ask at reception for a birthday phone call to your room where pluto or mickey etc will ring you and wish you a happy birthday.

cal:)

If you want to spend a little (well a lot) the Disney florist does some awesome in room celebrations. They "sneak" into your room while you are gone and decorate it and leave gifts. We did the halloween version in 2013 and it was awesome!

As you have seen from several of the PPs, there are many ways that YOU can make your DDs day extra special. Don't just hope that someone else will do it for you. You can spend a lot or you can spend nothing, and still make it a day she will never forget.

Book a character meal. I can almost guarantee that the characters will make a big deal out of it. Actually, any characters should be over the top with it in a meal or out, but especially: tigger, stitch, Alice, the tremains, chip and dale, gaston, Mad Hatter (this one especially), and peter pan. Some of the restaurants will give out birthday cards and a cupcake.

Interact with other people. One time I made a birthday "book" taped a bunch of cards together to form a large book and every time someone wished her a happy birthday, they had to sign her "card."

This year I'm making a scavenger hunt game for my friend's birthday. When I'm done you could copy it, if you wish. Things like this:

Three little faires have come for you
See this dress change from pink to blue,
Get yourself some pixie dust,
A magic wand is a must
Go outside, find the well
Say the words and cast your spell.

(The place would be castle couture, and you could either include money to buy a wand, or make/buy one and bring it. In castle couture you can get 'pixie dusted' IE glittered in your hair.)

Love these ideas! :) I'm going to do the Tinkerbell fairy dust thing for my husband's 51st birthday on our next visit. :joker:

I read somewhere to 'pre-purchase' souvenirs from the Dollar Store -- I have a sash, a birthday banner, glitter hair spray and other Tinkerbell gifts for the other days.

And I found these nifty little vial necklaces that I'll put on a satin cord that will have 'pixie dust' in them for the birthday as well!
