Does anyone have any recommendations for a restaurant to eat in, for my daughter's 12th birthday, while we are at Disney? We have the dining plan, but not sure what restaurant, if any, would do anything 'extra' special.

We ate at Chef Mickey's & Crystal Palace while we were celebrating my son's first bday. Both locations were great & the character interaction was really good. If I had to choose between the two I would probably say Crystal Palace.

It's the luck of the draw. Out of all the ADR's we had last September (we were there celebrating my 50th bitthday), all of them but one acknowledged my birthday with at least a cupcake. We ate at: Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, Cape May Cafe (dinner), Mama Melrose, Plaza Restaurant, LeCellier, Princess Lunch at Akershus in Norway and Boatwright's. Everyone brought something to me except for Boatwright's.

We spent my DD's 13th b-day in WDW last year.

We did:
breakfast at CRT
dinner at Akersus in Norway

Dinner was followed by an Illuminations Celebration Cruise...I had a b-day cake delivered to the boat.

The highlight of the day for DD was the CUTE waiter we had in Norway. I just asked DD, & she STILL remembers his name, Chris!! DD received a card signed by all the characters, & a b-day cupcake.

Hi Karmac! Welcome to the DIS!

I don't know if you have already gone on your trip or not but I just wanted to weigh in with my opinion of where to take your DD to celebrate her birthday. I guess it really depends on what your daughter is into but, when we were on our honeymoon, pretty much everywhere we went acknowledged the occassion. But Boma was really special! Not only was the food great and the service good but they brought out this special dessert platter just for us with Happy Honeymoon written on it in chocolate sauce. Not only that, but you get to see all the animals at AKL why you are there. So, that's my recommendation.

I hope your DD has a great birthday and that you have a wonderful trip.

I don't mean to overtake this topic or change it in any way but in reading this topic got me thinking. If you contacted Disney during a time you were planning on going there during a family members birthday does Disney offer anything special for a birthday such as parites or anything like that. I've never been during anyone's birthday so I was just wondering? Forgive me if I took over your topic it wasn't my intention, it just got me thinking.

Last January on my daughter's 4th birthday we did the tea party at the Grand Floridian with Sleeping Beauty. It was quite special.

We went for mine and my cousin's husbands 40th b'days and the best one was 50's Prime Time. We got a nice cupcake and character interaction at Chef Mickey's, a nice plate of desserts at Boma but at 50's Prime Time not only with the great (sarcastic) "brother" server....they "made" everyone in the restaurant sing Happy Birthday ::yes:: and then they had birthday cards passed to all the other tables while we were dining and people wrote messages and where they were from....it was really cool and a great souvinier to bring home...not sure if it works this way all the time but we had the best time there!! :thumbsup2

Getting a special cake would make it special anywhere. Check out the official cake thread for great ideas!

The Hoop Dee Doo may be fun.... They ask people who has a special day and they come to the table and make a big deal of it.

Chef Mickey brings the birthday cupcake and gives a place mat.... But that may be too "childish" for your DD.

My son was given a special ice cream sunday at Tony's and they had the table decorated with streamers and confetti... That was nice.

*Make sure that you mention that you have a birthday when you make your reservation and when you check-in. Also make sure she gets her birthday button at Guest Services or when you check-in to your resort.

You can rent out spaces in theme park after hours and arrange catering and whatnot but I do think that is terribly expensive. Other than that, I don't think they offer much in the way of special, private parties.

Welcome!

We are celebrating a birthday at the Coral Reef in Epcot. If you get in contact directly with the restaurant, they will make a personalized menu and if the timing is right, you can have a diver with a sign come down wishing the guest of honor a happy birthday! I think it's so neat that they do this there.

Make sure you stop by guest relations at the park you are going to and get a special "its my birthday pin" we got ours at MK and so many cast members went out of their way to say happy birthday to my son.

We had dinner that night at Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge, I told them ahead of time it was his birthday and they brought out an icecream sundae to sing to him~ when they were done, all the servers pulled out spoons and ate his icecream!! You should have seen his face, priceless! Of course they had another one to give him, but it was a terrific surprise!:rotfl2:

We had dd's 8th at Crystal Palace. I called ahead and ordered the special cake - I think it was $12. I didn't tell dd there was cake and let her load up at the Sunday bar, then our server hid behind a pillar with a cake while Tigger snuck up behind her and started the whole restaurant singing HBD, then jumped out with the cake. It was adorable.

THe next day we did my bday at Beaches and Cream. They dimmed the lights and had me stand on my chair while everyone sang. Also fun.

Hi, you have had many suggestions. One, would depend on the type of food your DD likes. For something special and she is going to be 12, we were there for my DD's 12th. California Grill, make ADR's so you can be there for MK's fireworks the music is piped in. Request a window seat and though they don't promise mention it is your DD's birthday. The Brown Derby one of my fav's. Le Cellier another fav, haven't been to the Italian one since they reopened so I can't give you a opinion there. Check the restaurant board. Good Luck and enjoy! There's so many enjoy researching them and don't get to hungry:laughing:.

We took our son to the Hoop Dee Do Revue for his 6th birthday in December. They asked if anyone was celebrating a bday or any other special occasion. They asked his name and how old he was. Later on in the show he was even selected to go on stage and be a Texas Ranger.

He still loves watching the video to see himself up on the stage.

As another poster said, don't forget to get her a birthday button at Guest Services. We got one for my DH and he was turning 37! ;)

Our last trip to Disney we celebrated DH's 37th b-day. We actually his birthday pin at our hotelupon check in. We ate lunch at the plaza rest., they brought out a small cake and had everyone sing. Then we had dinner at the Sci-Fi ( where I thought they would do the same) nothing just a happy birthday from our server.

It is strange but every place does it different...

At Donalds breakfast they called my DS up to the middle of the room with another child and had the entire place sing Happy Birthday, then they gave him a card.

As I stated in an earlier post, Tonys decorated the table and gave him icecream.

Trails End dinner gave him a brownie with icecream.

Chef Mickey was the cupcake and placemat.

Sci-Fi did nothing. Although I did see a kid get one of those cakes you can order there.

Whispering Canyon (for breakfast) did not bring him anything but the server did call every one's attention to him and announced his birthday.

*He did wear the button the entire trip and he did get lots of attention from Cast Members every where we went :goodvibes

I'm surprised the server even talked to you. We barely saw ours at Sci-Fi.
