Ok, I'm 26 years old and have never been good with pills. But I have decided to try birth control pills again and I'm doing pretty good (4 days so far and haven't missed..lol) My only problem right now is I am so naeuseated (sp?). Its been just the last 2 fays ro so but I feel so sick to my stomach, I guess i'm nto even sure that its the pills, maybe I'm getting sick?

I just really feel sick today, tired and naeuseated mostly. Could this be the pill?

I really want to be able to have some control over my periodespecially for our upcoming DInsey trip, my period has been starting 4-6 days eralier each month for the last 6 months and at this rate I'd be starting the day we leave...no good.

Anyone have any experience with yasmin or even birth control in general?

When I had to switch birth controls I remember getting the same feeling. If you still dont feel well tomorrow just call the dr.'s office I am sure you can easily speak with a nurse about it and leave a message with the dr. It is nice to have some reassurance.

I'm on Yasmin too. Actually I just started it 3wks ago. I haven't been feeling nauseous but I did notice the first week and a half I did get terrible headaches after taking the pill. :confused3

I told myself I would give it one more week to see if the headaches persisted before going back to the doctor but they seemed to disappear after a while.

If your nausea continues maybe you could ask your docter for a different type of pill.

Before Yasmin I was on Ortho-tricyclen for 3yrs and never had a problem with that.

Good Luck :wizard:

All of my roommates were on various BC pills last year, and they all were very nausious the first few days of each pack. They all took them at bed time just so they could get through the nausea at night instead of during classes and stuff. One of them said it had something to do with the high levels of hormones entering the system. It always took them a few days to start feeling better

I've been on Yasmin for about six months. I remember feeling pretty ill when I started taking it. Now, it does bother me at all. Good luck :)

I have always had lots of trouble with nausea when taking BCP, especially when I used the patch. Good Luck!!

When I used to take BC pills I would usually vomit the first one of each pack back up. When I got pregnant with DS (on purpose, after I stopped the pills!) I was sick for 8 solid weeks. I can't tolerate estrogen, so anything that elevates my estrogen levels makes me violently ill.

I am on Depo Provera injections now, which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE but apparently a lot of women have trouble with it. Talk to your Dr. if you keep feeling yucky - there are tons of pills on the market so maybe you just need to try a different one.

I always had problems with nausea. When I started taking my pills at bedtime, the nausea stopped!

Same thing with prenatal vitamins. (when the time comes!)

I'm not familiar with Yasmin, but I know when I was on BC pills it took some searching to find one that didn't make me sick.
Finally found a low dose pack that worked for me.

So yes, it definitely could be the BC making you nauseous.

I was on Yasmin for 2 1/2 years and never had a problem. We're trying for baby #2 so that's why I got off of them. Didn't have a problem getting off either...was regular right away.

Yasmin was AWFUL for me. It was just awful. My DH begged me to stop taking it.

I felt ill all the time, diarrhea, cramps, mood swings, breakthrough bleeding.

If you are still feeling sick to your stomach after a while, I would call the Dr.

I never knew this until after I stopped taking it but there are entire message boards devoted to the horrors of Yasmin. :confused3

Got any links? That sounds very interesting.

Sorry , can't help you there. I never could tolerate the bcp's. They give me headaches, make me b*tchy, raised my blood pressure and it just wasn't worth it. We switched to a diaphragm and were muuuch happier.

I've been on 5 different BCP over the past few years. If its making you sick I would suggest calling your doc and ask about switching to a low dose BCP. Yasmin now has a 'spin-off' called Yaz. Its a low dose pill and the cycle is 24 days of "active" pills. Because you take active pills longer, each pill has a lower dose. I really like it out of all the pills I've been on, it doesn't make me sick at all.
The other thing is to take your pill with food. In my case I've found that I feel most sick if I take it on an empty stomach. Just eating a few crackers or drinking a glass of milk was enough to make me not get sick to my stomach.

I've got to say, I didn't have a great run with Yasmin either. I finally switched after about 8 months. The nausea and whatnot usually passes in about a month, but I had the worst PMS of my life on Yasmin (cramping, depression, etc.). Plus its main birth control function seemed to be making me so not interested in "things" that there was little chance of me ever conceiving!

The worst was, though, when I tried to take it back to back so I could skip my cycle I had breakthrough bleeding for over 6 weeks straight! When I went back to regular my cycle never started up normally again. I had to take pregnancy tests every month for 6 months because the &*&! thing wasn't working right.

My Dr. finally switched me to EstroStep and it's been like night and day! I haven't felt this good in a while and everything's working like it's supposed to again, thank goodness!

I did the same thing when I was on the pill and with the vitamins as well. I had to take them with a big glass of water and then go to bed but I didnt feel sick at all the next day.

Because of this I am switching to nuva ring. Supposedly since not as much of the med is in your system you dont get sick. I hope that works.

The nuvaring ROCKS. The pill always made me feel guilty ("I was half an hour late taking it today ... uh oh") or very public ("my pills fell out of my bag at a business meeting.") The Nuvaring offers a very low dose of hormones - no wild swings over the course of a day, it's very even - and it's intensely private. I've gotten nine of my friends on it (and counting). I will NEVER go back to the pill.

Good luck finding a solution that works best for you!

I've been on Yasmin for about 5 years and I've never had a problem with it. It's the only BCP I've ever been on. I would definitely call my doctor ASAP if you are feeling sick from it though! They can switch you to a different brand, maybe even a lower dose.

I've never heard the horror stories about Yasmin, that is very interesting!

I am allergic to almost all antibotics such as penicillin, can't take any narcotics such as vicodin, etc. because everything makes me either throw up or get hives, but have never had a problem, thank goodness, on this brand. I also can't take certain types of vitamins because they make me throw up. :confused3 Hopefully in a couple years when we start trying to have a baby, I can find a prenatal vitamin that won't make me sick!

I've been on Yasmin for YEARS and never had any side effect.

Sorry you aren't feeling well.

A friend of mine absolutely LOVES Yasmin. I was on the NuvaRing for 6 months and absolutely hated it. Severe depression, major mood swings (I'm surprised my boyfriend didn't break up with me :rotfl: ) and breakthrough bleeding (before AF) every single month. I switched to a pill that I forget the name of lol and so far so good, but I just started it a few days ago, so who knows lol.

I was on Ortho-Tricyclen a few years ago and never had a problem with it. If you're not happy, I would suggest switching.
