Birth Certificate?

That's a good question, about needing to prove it to Disney! I may take a photocopy just in case. My son is 2.5 but he is 42" so I'm not sure if they will take my word for it.

When we flew to disney with our 3 yr old (nearly 4), I got him a passport just in case I lost him and had to prove he was mine (the passport has his photo and we got it done just before we left). I also brought a copy of his birth certificate that has my name on it. He was prone to major meltdowns that always looked as though we were kidnapping him.

However, we never needed it, meltdowns and all. No one asked for it. No one questioned he was mine. He needed a park ticket, so I can't say that Disney wouldn't question it. I did ask them if kids club would need anything (because he's so small) and was told no.

That is indeed because the child is traveling as a lap child. It's an age-based fare, so you have to prove it.

The OP has a child that is over 2; no more lap baby status for you when you turn 2. So unless there's an airline with a child's fare that is actually good and the OP has it, the domestic flight will NOT need proof of age.

Disney parks are pretty good about figuring out when a child is under 3 and over. Even a tall child still acts like a little kid. Even an articulate child still has something "babyish" about them. I can think of just one child that I know out of all the children I know, who might have caused problems at the Disney gates, because she is tall and big and GROWN looking, and is INCREDIBLY articulate and bright and smart and I don't think she looked like a baby even when she WAS a baby. I met her as a 3 year old and she seemed to be 6. She's now 6 and I haven't seen her in person in awhile, but pictures on her dad's FB page just floor me. But that's one kid out of all the ones I know (luckily her father wouldn't do anything as humdrum in his opinion as to go to Disney). Disney is pretty good about it all. They also know that kids that age like to "age up". My son at 3 was saying that he was something like 45. :rotfl:

You must have met my daughter. ;)

We were questioned at the gates by a grumpy old man (not your typical CM) after that I just carried an extra kids ticket with us as the conflict of his nasty attitude sat uneasy with me. We never needed it and were never questioned again and I just upgraded it to an AP when she did turn three.

She was tall and just looked "old" ~ she always has. Even as an infant she didn't look like a baby. She never really wore clothes with characters on them because they always looked silly on her. I guess I can't blame the old dude... but after I told him she was only two... his attitude went even further downhill.

Would it have made a difference if he were not "old?"

Disney always has people trying to cheat the system.

Would his rudeness level have been less if he was not old? I have no idea.

To me it doesn't matter.... it was just how I saw him he was so nasty.

ETA: Did you mean the "not your typical CM" comment? For that I meant grumpy. I don't often see grumpy CM. Nothing to do with age.

Haha I know about that. We are going in a few weeks and my daughter doesn't turn 3 until July but she is walking around going "Chloe is 3". I hope that they believe me she is only 2 nut yet 3 :(

I made sure to teach my daughter to say "almost 3". This worked perfect considering she had no idea what almost meant and only cared to say she was 3!
