BIRTH CERTIFICATE - Advice needed ASAP

WAKE UP is kind of a harsh title for your post - your opinion is that everyone should have a passport, and that's fine, but that title?????

Exactly:goodvibes

My DH just called....and got 3 copies of our marriage license lol....2 backups lol

Thanks everyone who responded quickly:)

Happy Thanksgiving

Well, that's your opinion.

On our recent trip, we boarded hassle free with only BC and DL.
I'm pretty sure her birth certificate has her maiden name on it, since we were not married when she was born.

With respect, it's not an opinion, I would suppose it is the prefered US State Departments method of re-entering the US. It would appear that arguing over the reasons why someone should have a passport is pointless, because the OP is looking for solutions. The end is near for us to just willy-nilly enter the US without passports, because I did find updated information on the US Department Site that made no reference to Closed ended cruises being exempt. That has been the rumor for along time now. I believe the the US State Department for a fee can make urgent passports. Our family cruises alot, I cannot fathom why passports or at least making CERTAIN that you have the required documents wouldn't be the very first thing you do when planing a trip outside of the US? I cannot imagine what may happen if someone has to get off the ship emergently, without a passport, travel by air back into the States could indeed be problematic.......I would much prefer being armed with a passport instead of trying to convince an agent that i'm allowed to travel with just drivers and a marriage license...

You should be fine, as all woman have their maiden names on the BC..obviously! They have seen it many a time and I have never carried my Marriage Cert. with me on our cruises...never!

I asked DCL about a month ago and no marraige license is needed. Friends just used BC and DL. Take it anyway since you got three copies as it will surely ease your mind. Have a great trip!

I know it's off topic but I do understand the opinion that U.S. citizens, even on a closed loop cruise, would be better prepared for emergencies if they have a U.S. passport. You are allowed to enter the U.S. with your birth certificate by land or returning on your ship from a closed loop cruise BUT it could be a problem if some kind of emergency (yours or maybe someone back at home) happens and you want to return to the U.S. quickly, by air - because a passport is required to do that.
