Hi Everyone....We leave Thurs (GF through Sunday) then Sunday on the Wonder. I couldn't find my DH and mine Birth Certificates so we went today to get them. I am just double checking all my documents and my birth certificate obviously says my maiden name. How will that work with my Photo ID (Driver's license with my marriage name?) Will I have an issue getting on the ship?

God...I'm having a panic attack lol.

I am sure someone with more experience will respond but is there any way you could take a copy of your marriage license with you? That is what I had to do several years ago for a trip to Jamaica.

Have a great trip!

Sorry I dont have the exact answer but, DW just went to get her DL renewed and had an issue. Seems the govt. needs to see the actual change so she needed her birth cert, a copy of our marriage lisc. , and then the other documentation.

So, you may want to call DCL and ask (you can;t be the first with the issue, so they should be able to help quick) and maybe all you need is your birth cert. and marriage lisc.? hopefully. Wish you well.

ETA: See others beat me to it, same advice though so hopefully that's all you need.

We took our parents on DCL in Sept and there wasn't an issue with my mom's BC. They didn't even bat an eye or ask for any more documents. You should be fine.

Thanks everyone....I even requested the marriage license today and was going to bring it anyway as a backup . . . .(not thinking of my maiden name at the time)...but we got married in the town over so I would have to go somewhere else. I'll try and look for it tonight if not I have to get a copy of it tomorrow....god lol.

In this day and age everyone should have a passport. So easy to have just one document. And if something happens in a foriegn country, you'll never have a problem. Even our 2.5 year old grandson has one, he's been on three cruises and I'd never go out of the USA without one

put them in a page protector for the trip.

I 2nd the PP who suggested that everyone get a passport. We use them EVERY TIME we travel as our kids don't look like us ... they are adopted. NOW there are NO ??? about who they belong to

I don't know this as fact...but I will say that I've cruised to Bermuda 3X in Royal Carribnean with my birth certificate, and my ID. My birth certificate has my maiden name, and my ID my married name.

I'm assuming since every married woman (well as long as she changed her name when she married) has a different last name on their birth cert. compared to their license...IF they wanted/required a marriage certificate that would be clearly stated on the website. It is not. Simply says a birth certificate, and a photo ID.

I'm sure they check the birth certificate against the license to insure the first, middle names as well as the birth dates match up.

I can see how you had a bit of freak out...because if you think about it...it's a little weird....but I think they deal with it daily and the cert. and ID are ok.

Prior to getting a passport I traveled numerous times with only my BC and DL. Enjoy!

Well, that's your opinion.

On our recent trip, we boarded hassle free with only BC and DL.
I'm pretty sure her birth certificate has her maiden name on it, since we were not married when she was born.

Thanks everyone:goodvibes

I did find my marriage Certificate issued by our church an official document. My DH is going to the town office to get an official copy from there just in case.

Regarding the comment "Wake Up".... we have not travelled for the need of one. This was a last minute in a sense trip. I researched enough to know that a BC was sufficient otherwise I wouldn't have gone obviously. I wouldn't have been in such a panic state if I was able to get my Birth Certificate last week but wasn't able to because of a family emergency with my mom. Up until this point I wasn't even sure we would be able to go at all. Fortunately we are. So please think twice before you respond to someone in that "tone" . . . everyone looks to this board for advise . . . and lately it seems as though people don't think before they respond. We all don't know everyone's situations.

Thanks again everyone:goodvibes

Be aware that the church-issued certificate may look official, but in many jurisdictions it is NOT considered an official record of marriage. I found that out when getting my first digital NJ Driver's License. They would NOT accept the certificate that the church had signed as evidence of marriage. I needed to go to the NJ Dept of Records to obtain a state-issued marriage certificate with a raised seal.

And thats funny because just last week is when DW renewed her NJ dl at dmv and they did take the church certificate. Just goes to show, the govt of the great state of NJ is just as inconsistent as the rest of the world. :rotfl2:

Just thought I'd mention the same thing is true about hospital birth certificates. If your BC has little footprints on it, it is not official. Found that out the hard way with my mom.

We found that out when we went to get our passports, had to go back to town hall where the kiddies were born and get one from the county.

Funny enough, the passport people also took our church issued marriage lisc. :confused3

I thought that also....that's why I'm having DH going to vitals and records to get a certified copy there....I'm bringing it all lol.

Told them if they don't let me board i'll be waving to them from the port...then they can find me at the GF at the spa...have to laugh or I'll go bonkers lol;)

WAKE UP is kind of a harsh title for your post - your opinion is that everyone should have a passport, and that's fine, but that title?????
