Can somebody tell me if there are any birds / parrots onboard the Wonder and / or Casteway cay. I have total phobia with birds, and on a previous cruise with RCCL, they had birds flying all over the buffet (inside the patio cafe) & at the pool. Also if you happen to know if Disney has any plan to get rid of this yukkyyy seagulls in their parks, which literally attack people with food.:p

I definetly don't remember any birds on the ship itself. I don't remember them on CC either.

They do play the movie the "Birds" in the theatre.......only kidding....!!!

The only birds you may encounter are the cute ones in Parrot Cay that are part of the decor....no live ones.

My DW has the same phobia. We did 4 nt Wonder last October. She saw 1 bird on the jogging deck under the front where it is covered in(I suppose if you have a phobia you remember these things). Saw none at all on CC.
If there was a bird prob we would not have booked the 7nt Magic this Oct.

I have found some pictures on the web with a parrot among children - for a Disney Cruise Line / teen club or something ?
I hope this is totally fake .. The problem as well, is that if you don't have any fear at birds you usually don't see them. I tend to see them everywhere .. because I am scared to death of them. I just don't want to jump of my seat at the buffet, because a tiny bird is eating my breakfast. note: I am sure that there are birds on cc , especially around leftovers ... I just hope there are no pigeons or else near the beach.

Disney can't do much about the seagulls at WDW. The birds stay because people hand feed them. If people listened to WDW and stopped feeding the birds so much, the problem would be much better.

what kind of bird are we talking about ? I just hope they won't be any birds on my balcony or I may jump in the sea :-) kidding .. but really .. could you tell me where this d .. bird was, I will make sure I don't go there then brrrrrrrr :smooth:

While out at sea you will not see birds....but when docked in ports you may very well see birds around the upper deck.
We once saw people feeding gulls from their veranda while docked at St. Thomas and a many gulls were swooping in to get the popcorn or crackers or whatever it was that they were feeding them. I did not think that was a very wise move.

Actually, on CC there are birds....never been bothered by them but it is a natural place so birds would be there.

But, onboard I have not see any.

In the Navigator for the Wonder that I printed from Barb's site? There's actually a little notice NOT to feed the birds for precisely that reason.

LOL - you should see our Disney lot here in Burbank -I work for the Mouse House here - and the SQUIRRELS? Walk RIGHT up to you - feeding them has been a Disney tradition for years - they are all fat and happy on the Disney lot :) They actually used to sell little bags of nuts for them at the old Employee center :)

When you are port you may want to stay away from eating outdoors at the breakfast buffet. When we were docked there were birds up there. They weren't bothering anyone that was sitting with their food, but this one poor guy put his tray down and went to get something and while he was gone the birds swooped in and got his breakfast. The CMs are pretty good about keeping the birds away, but they weren't fast enough that time. :)

I remember black birds trying to take the food off our plates when we sat outside Beach Blanket Buffet during the embarkment lunch.

brrrrrr "j'en ai froid dans le dos". Well, I guess I will hafe to avoid outdoor breakfast then. Hopefully I won't be bothered at the pool !!! Anyone noticed birds inside (2nd floor) the restaurant at disney York Pizza - Toys story MGM park .. this is awfull, I could not stay inside neither outside, they were everywhere.
Is the buffet restaurant entirely covered ? How about the pool for kids ? any birds ? I am sure there are birds on cc, but I hope they won't be near the water or around sand :(

If you are afraid of birds, definitely choose the inside seating at the deck 9 buffet (you will have your choice of inside or out). Be careful about leaving food on your verandah if you happen to eat out there on a port day...I swear the sea gulls have a sixth sense in finding it. On Castaway Cay, you will be fine if you eat under the enclosure. I rarely see birds by Cookies, but there seem to be more by the lunch area at the adult beach.

This isn't really a direct answer to your question, but it did remind me of when I worked at Club Med. In St. Lucia, there was a terrible crow problem. The dining room had their doors open all the time for the wonderful tropical cross breeze, but the crows would fly in and actually sit at the tables with people in the dining room. This became such an identifiable part of the dining experience that a few members of my group (we were there as hired improv performers :jester: ) actually dressed up as crows one night and sat on people's tables and ate off of their plates.

Thanks for reminding me of that. What a great memory.........

As I recall from previous cruises on different cruise lines, yes there are birds, not many at all, and usually around the perimeter of the ships and certainly not in the dining rooms! :rotfl:

In my eyes there is difference in birds and gulls. Can't stand gulls because they are so aggresive, although it's because people feed them. My husband however, is an avid bird watcher and is hoping to see some native birds on the Islands in the Eastern Carribean. We hope there are some species we don't usually see in Florida. Is it worth it to bring the binoculars?

When you are waiting in the hallway outside Parrot Cay, they play a rather loud recording of birds and topical sounds. Just thought you might like to know in advance.

I only remember seeing birds comming around the ship as we were docking at Castaway Cay. They would fly around the outdoor seating area at the BACK of deck 9.

I don't recal any live birds inside the ship.

If the west nile virus keeps spreading, maybe by the time of your cruise they will be all gone! ;) We use to have 15 crows that hung around our house, and since the virus has been found here, they have all died. We haven't had a crow around for 3-4 months now!
