We ate at Flametree BBQ on our recent trip and really enjoyed it with the exception of some maddening ducks in the vicinity. About halfway through our meal one walked up and boldly pecked my toe. A few minutes later not one, but two of them came up and started pecking on my bum. At which point I turned around and yelled "QUIT IT!! I AM NOT EDIBLE!!!" Well, that line gave the other table sitting close by a good laugh. I don't know why they singled me out, they didn't seem interested in anyone else at the time. But they were quite annoying. Pesky little critters to say the least.

There are "don't feed the birds" signs I believe. Most guests pay absolutely no attention to them.

That was our experience too....there were alot of families feeding them so that adds to the problem.

In Epcot by the McDonalds stand my poor little niece could not eat her nuggets and fries, the stupid birds were mean and trying to attack her! DH was doing the crazy man dance chasing them off and she was yelling at them to get their own lunch! It was a riot...we looked like Secret Service guarding her and her food from these loons!

God, I wish I had seen this! :rotfl::lmao:

Were they saying "mine, mine, mine"? ;)

3 years ago at Sea World, I had problems with the seagulls -- we were trying to feed fish to the seals and sea lions, and the pesky things kept snatching the food away!

Disney birds can be downright scary. When we were at Hurricane Hannah's, we had a whole flock lurking under the table, under our seats, on the planter next to our table, etc. It was quite unsettling even though they weren't agressive enough to start pecking at us and it really scared my DD.

I had to laugh out loud when I read this because the very same thing happened to us at both locations, Flame Tree & at McDonalds at Epcot. :lmao: I have video of the kids and the ducks at Epcot and it is so funny.

When we were at Animal Kingdom there was someone attending the area where we were eating and she told everyone not to feed the ducks. :rotfl: This one duck would not leave my DD alone. We laughed at her so hard when she started freaking out about it. It was priceless. :rotfl2: You would have thought a tiger was trying to get her. :lmao:

When I was there in August there where tables with children in high chairs, all with ducks around the high chairs waiting for children to drop food. They know where to go for the best food service.

When I was at Yak and Yeti CS, I had a grackle fly down in front of me and take a chicken thing from my chicken and rice meal. I love birds, but I wasn't crazy about "bird germs" in my food after that.

Watch your food at Typhoon Lagoon too! We watched a mom put down a tray and go back for a second...when she came back the birds were diving for her food. Others sitting nearby tried to keep them away.

AK Flame tree same thing :rotfl2: except it was my hubby they were 'billing'

poor guy, he never feeds them!! Fortunately, some others came by and the birds flocked over to them :rotfl2::lmao:

The critters are one of the main reasons we like the place so much! Flametree is about the most critter infested spot in WDW! Last meal we had ducks, crows, squirrels, a lizard, and a bunny all within a few feet of our table. I have pictures of the children and all the little creatures.:thumbsup2

Same here. We love sitting at Flame Tree and watching all the wildlife.

Quite seriously, if you talk to the birds, they rarely bother you. Simply acknowledge them and they will at least stand away from you. We never get bothered by the ducks and other birds at Flame Tree and it's a must every trip to Animal Kingdom.

The birds have a good life at Disney World with all the food around. The only thing they have to watch out for is little kids who, for some unknown reason, like to scare the birds. Run up and make them run away. We always wonder what that kid would do if some giant did that to them.

You're right-- I hate seeing kids do this. What's worse is the parents who stand by and think it's cute.
