Hey everyone, my dh doesn't remember the huge birds in Frontierland, although; dd and I keep trying to describe what they looked like and thier location. I think they were some kind of crane? Do you have pictures of the Frontierland birds or do you know what type crane they were? Pictures please???

I believe their called "igrids" (ee grids)...not sure on the spelling.

Careful with those birds. People feed them, and they tend to get dangerous. My sister walked away cheerily with her freshly purchased Churro, and one of those birds swooped down and hit her in the head (oh, and took the churro). She had a mild concussion and go to first aid!

Yes! I did a search for egret and that's what they looked like! I don't remember a curved beak like the Ibis has.

OMG...I would of passed out. I always make my DH be on the look out for birds when we go. I have a great fear of them! :scared1: :scared:

that will drop a mess on you if you're not careful. Two of my SIL's had that happen to them (nasty)

I have seen many people lose their meals in Frontierland to these flying garbage skows!!! It's amazing to watch though....someone walks out with a tray of food....the bird telephone starts....within about 4 secs there are about 10 birds, diving around, and then the lucky bird dives into the food, scattering it....now they all get to eat. Well, except the unlucky family the birds stole it from. That's one reason I never eat in Frontierland...those birds.

In fact, one day, my dh started brushing off my back. When I asked him why, his response was (I kid you not!!).."Well honey, you have some bird poop on your lower shoulder and I'm getting it off." I screeched and told him to get a wet rag...he said..."Oh it's okay..it's dried now. It happened a few hours ago. I wanted it to dry first." Thought I was going to kill both dh and my dd!!!! I walked around for 3 hrs with bird doo on my back!!! Yuck!!

the big ones are great egrets. there's a mix of snowy egrets, cattle egrets, ibis, and herons as well. and of course, the seagulls.

Oh those nasty gulls!!!! And lets not forget the big ole ugly black birds over at the Contemporary. Someone told me they were a type of vulture. They were the nastiest looking bird I've seen that closely!! And big!!! Hope they don't find their way over to the MK area from the CR. But they did seem to congregate on the building tops, overlooking the lake!!!

Birds in Frontierland are like the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz!! They swoop in on the tiniest piece of food till the poor person surrenders...it's pitiful! And not to mention the disgusting droppings...one got me at Christmas...ick!

those are black vultures. And they are oportunistic. I fear for the lives of all the little ducklings that have just hatched all around the parks. they are so cute. but vultures will snatch them up in a heart beat.

and the birdproblem can only be blamed on the stupid people who keep feeding them. if there wasn't food readily avalable they would not be there.
