Anybody besides me get attacked by birds during their stay? We stayed at AS Sports last month. We loved it but....there was this attack bird over by the pool. He ran right into my head twice! The first time I thought it was an accident. I thought maybe he just wasn't looking where he was going. The second time I knew he was out to get me. The next time I saw him he flew up behind someone and pecked them right in the back of the head! Is this just a really mad bird or does this happen often? BTW...this will not keep me from going back. I don't want to scare anyone away from staying onsite. :D

So many people think it is cute to feed the birds - what are we, Mary Poppins of something? Anyway, the birds are getting rather aggressive at all the parks since they are accustomed to people feeding them or getting the food that is left behind. Maybe that bird just thought you were food or something. Some people have reported that their small children were attacked when they were carrying food.

DH and I encountered a rather aggressive long-legged ibis-type of thing at the outdoor Mexico restaurant in Epcot last summer.

And maybe SideshowBob will link you to his hilarious thread about being attacked by a mother mockingbird, if he sees this thread...........:D

So funny you wrote this!
DH was attacked by a bird from behind last week at POR while jogging in the morning.
He was running by the main pool and read a sign warning guests of aggressive nesting birds. Right after he read that, WHAM, one flies into his shoulder, purposely hitting him from behind.
He said it didn't hurt, more like it startled him.
We did walk by the pool (path) one night to our hotel room and were being dive bombed, but nothing close like he experienced.
He wondered if it hit him because he was running, rather than walking like people usually do.
He said if someone was scared of birds anyway, they would think they were being attacked like in the movie The Birds!:jester:
He did take a different path when running from then on.;)

No bird problems at the BWI balcony or pool but some aggresive seagulls near the picnic tables on the BW!

This is so funny. I thought it was just my husband...When we were staying at the POR 5 years ago my DH got attacked every time he went out to run. It was past nesting season. We were there for the beginning of July. I am sure it isn't funny when the birds are diving at your head though.

Huge big seagulls at the Y&B pool. My daughter was very young and took her food inside because she was so scared. Last Nov at the BWI we had about 25 birds on our balcony after we put some nuts and berries out.......(we stayed inside though because there were SO many).....it was a lot of fun.

Last year I was hanging one of the kid's swimsuits on the drying line on the balcony. Just before that we had stopped in the lounge and picked up some nibbles to munch before we headed out for the evening.

As I turned to walk back into our room, a HUGE crow flew into our room, landed on our table, snatched MY tuna sandwich, and flew back out the slightly open door! Scared the heck out of me as it buzzed my head to get in. It scared the heck out of my DD who was sitting at the table eating her nibbles. Did I mention this thing was HUGE!

We just laughed about this the other evening as we were having tuna sandwiches! ;)

My DH thinks I am crazy when I tell him that these birds are AGGRESIVE!! I have had them dive at me while returning from the food court at ASMo and CBR, and he thinks I was imagining it!!

I can remember watching "The Birds" as a child and am terrified of them.
They should post signs telling guests not to feed them because that is making the problem worse.

I have already said I will not stay in Jamaica or Aruba when we go to the CBR! I don't want to have to cross over Parrot Cay island with all the birds!!

OMG:eek:  ROTFL!

This thread is hilarious! I just read a trip report from an english lady who's husband got dive bombed at the mini golf place across from BC/YC! They're everywhere, they're everywhere!

We noticed at the BW when we stopped to eat pizza there in 2000. It was amazing how many and how brave they are!!!

We sat down to eat our pizza and a lady next to us, with 2 little ones, ran back to the restaurant for napkins and in that time, the birds all got on her table to steal the pizza from her 2 DD's! My husband had to run over and save the day!

Also, we noticed many birds at the GF over by their 24 hour restaurant. Not as bad as BW though.

This is nesting season and you likely came close to a nest with eggs or young... blackbirds are especially aggressive in their dive bombing when you are close... though it is not anything like AH's "The Birds"... The doves tend to sit tight on their nests, though some will flutter to the ground and act injured in their efforts to lure you away...

Either way, no harm will come to you and it is a wonderful way to share the animal world's dedication in protecting their young with your children... look for but do not disturb the nest...

...animal behavior always has a rational explanation, until we get to some two legged types... watch out for them!!!

Yes this if funny, but beware, don't start something by feeding them! Birds are everywhere, but the seagulls at Boardwalk are the worst! I was divebombed a few times there and at Magic Kingdom- they tried to get my fries! There are signs up warning NOT to feed the birds and they mean it- A whole swarm will come and attack!

This thread is too funny. I just returned from CBR and the birds are something else by the pool bar. Alot of people eat out there, and the birds sit on the backs of chairs hoping for a handout. They are great for cleaning up after kids..

One late morning I walked thru that area and a bird dive bombed my head twice. I couldn't believe it and went into the gift shop to buy a hat. I have blond hair and I thought the bird wanted it for nesting purposes.

I had left the chocolate stor in Italy with a great big chocalate bar. I gave my wife a big piece, I gave my daughter a piece and I was feasting on my own piece, it was really great. I got down to my last row of three squares when this big black rhodan looking vulture swooped down and swiped it right out of my hand. I have never felt so violated in my life...other than that incident with the priest when I was younger........

Outside the Little Mermaid gift shop a bird kept diving at everyones heads. I think that it must have had a nest nearby. Everybody went running to take cover.

We were sitting at Casey's in MK and a robin (looked like one anyway, don't know for sure) came and stood on our table. Didn't attack, just sat there. We didn't feed it as there were signs everywhere not to but it was hard when he was sitting there so politely!

Why must you try to make a sick joke of something that is very heartbreaking and painful for many people? Your so called sense of humor is anything but funny, it is rude and insensitive!

I thought your humor Richyams was funny!
Lighten up people!
