Biometric Scanners at Disneyland?

Hello! :) Our family is headed to Disneyland for the first time during the week of Mother's Day. We are going to purchase the five for 3 tickets. I did search my question in the search area, but the last post I found was from 2007. Does Disneyland use the biometric scanners that are used in WDW? I know they didn't in 2007, I found that out, but I am wondering about now.

I am asking because we will be using our tickets for four days, but will only be in the Anaheim area for a short time on the fifth day- we will be heading to San Diego to camp for a few days after that. However, my parents are flying out to CA, for the drive down to San Diego and our San Diego portion of the trip, to meet us and suprise our girls. They do not want to pay for a full day in Disney, since we will all only be there for about half a day on that last day in Anaheim. But I would love for them to be able to experience a little bit of Disney with our girls. :goodvibes So I was thinking that they could use my ticket, and my husband's ticket, to take the girls over to DisneyLand for a few hours on our last day. The fifth day would probably just be wasted otherwise, as we would not want to leave my parents at the hotel all morning by themselves.

I am not trying to break any rules or cheat Disney out of money. Goodness knows they are going to be getting enough of ours while we are there. ;) Just wondering if my idea is possible and if others have done similar things in the past.
thanks a bunch!!

Unfortunately, the ticket is meant to be used by the same person for all days of the ticket. So, yes, you would be breaking the rules. Maybe your family could go to Goofy's Kitchen or hang around the hotels to experience Disney Magic.

Hi Valerie & welcome to the Disneyland side of the DIS. The biometric scanners are not used at Disneyland. They do use hand stamps and used tickets once you've entered the parks.

What a great surprise that you and your parents have planned for your girls. You'll have a great time.

I'm glad you said that you are not trying to break any rules or cheat Disney. Disney is pretty strict about sharing tickets, even park hoppers.

Although the DIS is not part of Disney, we support Disney's policies, and it would be bad form to discuss ways to cheat or circumvent Disney's policies. In that way, discussion about trying to cheat the system is not allowed on the DIS. I'm glad you don't want to do that, and so I would say that your idea would not be possible.

You could get your parents a 1-day hopper or 1-day/1-park ticket, and maybe plan to spend a whole day at the parks so that you can get a full value for your tickets. Another option would be to go to Downtown Disney and spend time there, where you could still get a bit of Disney without breaking any rules. :)

Have a great time!

That is a good idea. I really am not a rule breaker at all, I guess I was just looking for some different opinions on the subject. I hate to waste that last day also, even if it is technically "free". I would happily give it away to another family so they could enjoy it, but that would be breaking the rules too, so that is a no-go. :sad2:

Thank you for understanding. :) I guess Disney looks at it as giving the purchaser a break by discounting the days that can be used at the parks, and no more than that.

Thank you Mary Jo, and others, for that explanation. No, I really am not trying to break Disney's rules or try to drag others into a conversation about that. I am sorry I inadvertantly did so with my original post. a

These are some good ideas- I am going to talk to my parents and see what they would like to do. thank you all again. :) We are super excited for the trip!

You'll find a lot of good ideas here to make your trip special. We have a lot of great people here with fun imaginations and a bit of that Disney spirit in them, too. :goodvibes

Don't be afraid to ask questions - everyone here love to give ideas and advice on making Disney trips special.

Welcome to the Dis Valerie!! I hope you and your family have a great time at DL. I like the idea of getting the 1 day, 1 park tickets and visiting DL with your parents. I think that would be a very magical experience for everyone! Good Luck and have fun!

Thank you for the warm welcomes and all the great suggestions!

I spoke with my mom and they really do want to go to Disney with the girls, so I think we are going to purchase them 1 day tickets and suprise them. :) I was just going to go with the character breakfast, which was a great suggestion, but after talking to my mom and hinting around at going to the parks, I realized how much they would really like to go. I am so happy it is working out so perfectly. :)

That's GREAT!!! And maybe you and dh can run for a short break to ride some of the "big kid" rides that your little ones may not want to do. :) Just so you know, you can do a character breakfast inside DL. At Minnie & Friends, it's a buffet style but they will also make you things like omelets if you ask for them. The characters will come to your tables and interact with your family, really they follow your cues. We had a great time at M&F and we want to do it again! :)
