Biometric finger scanning?

When did Disney start the Biometric finger scanning? We have passes from our 2004 trip that have lots of pluses on them but don't know who's pass belongs to who. We used up all of our extras on even older passes on our last trip but we knew they were before the finger scanning. TIA! :goodvibes

So, if they didn't HAVE the finger scan back when you first used the tix, it won't MATTER which family member uses which one NOW.

If there's a magnetic stripe on the back, you can go ahead and USE them.
(Just keep track of WHO uses which ticket from now on.)

If the tix do not have a mag stripe, you can take them to Guest Relations and trade them in for ones that DO.

I don't KNOW if they had the biometric scan when we went in 2004. That's why I was asking. We don't keep track of our newer tickets because we use up all of the days and no longer get pluses as we have been using the old ones.

We didn't have to trade in our tickets with pluses from '96 and '99, we just used them in the same machine as the newer passes go in. I just want to try and figure out who's is who's before we go if they did have the finger scan in 2004.

Eljay-thanks for the info :thumbsup2

Scanners are an innovation! :cool1: :cool1:

Take all your tickets to a guest relations window. They will tell you what is left on each ticket. When you use these tickets for the first time with the biometric scanners, they will then get the first identifying scan. For every subsequent time through the turnstyle, your scan must match the first.

Thanks! :goodvibes We actually wrote on them how many pluses were left on each one and they haven't been used since our 2004 trip. It looks like (according to the article Eljay posted the link to) that the scanners didn't start until 2005 so we should be ok when using them for the first time with the scanners and hopefully we'll be using them all up on our next trip so we don't have to worry about keeping up with old passes.
