Biographies for 5th grade book report

Another one with a kid who did one on Walt Disney:

The Man Behind the Magic by Katherine and Richard Greene was the book he used.

He also did one on Arnold Plamer, who besides being a championship golfer, has done tons of good things for children's hospitals in PA and FL. DS had to choose him because he was a Pennsylvanian.

DD in 6th grade just did a profile on Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. He's a lot of fun to cover if your kid likes not-so-perfect people and you don't mind him reading about alcoholism and wild living. He really did have a fascinating and tragic life.

I know this sounds boring, but my daughter did her report on Martha Washington. She was a really strong woman in some very trying times. I enjoyed reading her biography also.

My favorite at that age was "Freedom train" about Harriet Tubman. I always encouraged my DD to pick women for her reports so she did Harriet Tubman, Sojurner Truth, Clara Barton etc.
