BINGO!

I love to play this game, on the ship only! I am wondering if anyone has ever won the grand prize? I just dream of where else I could go. I won a free gift bag because my name came up, once. I know it will be my lucky day soon....Lol Lol
I love to play but I never win :(

We played for the first time on our last cruise (Baltic). We got the family pack--DD18 had an electronic, I had a paper set, DH had an electronic and a paper set. DH won games 2 and 3--once with the paper, once with the electronic set! $573 total winnings! We did play again the next day--with DD14 as well, but didn't win anything. At both the games we played, no one won the 'jackpot' prizes. If you subtract out the $160 we spent on playing Bingo 2 days, we netted out $313...which was enough for us to splurge in the Sea Treasures shop (which was full of Russian art.) We got a nice matryoshka doll set...used our 10% off Disney Visa discount, and our winnings covered the rest of it!

Congrats!! What a wonderful shopping experience that was! I guess I have that anticipation that I love! Ready to play again! Hee hee

I was not at Bingo, but a lady won the jackpot on our 2016 Fantasy cruise. We heard she gave the money right back at the future cruise desk!

What does it cost to get started? I thought it looked fun last cruise, but there was no time. Now that it’s just me and DH this trip, I’m thinking we might make it happen. Do they have fun Disney dotters?

If I recall correctly, the cheapest bingo package was $40. No, there are no fun Disney dotters. Many of the games can be played on an electronic device, so you don’t need to keep track yourself. Otherwise they usually give you a marker or a golf pencil.

We were standers for the final jackpot last month, but someone else won. We really like playing. My favorite Bingo was during the cruise when the caller always got passengers to join in and do the B11 dance. On all of our other cruises, everyone just sits & watches the entertainment staff dance. It was fun when we got to join in.

I won the final jackpot on the Magic 2017 Thanksgiving cruise, $7500. It was a very surreal. There were about 10 folks 1 number away when I still had 4 to go. But all 4 hit and I won without splitting it.

Winning is a little crazy. They pay the jackpots in cash. The ships purser took me to the port excursions desk (closed for the day) and counted the cash out. I had to sign US tax documents. At the time I worked for an agency that regulated elements of the cruise industry so I had to get a letter confirming it was a game of chance, not a bribe. Terrified the next day in port realizing how many people knew I was walking the street of NYC carrying $7k cash.

If you win a prize and have to pay taxes, you can deduct all your bingo expenses. It was actually our 3 cruise of the year. I never keep the cruise folio but shoreside was able to provide my past cruises. I was able to reduce the winnings by a few hundred dollars.

We were on the same itinerary a year later. I was the first to stand (one away) on the $8100 jackpot. But two numbers later another guy won it on a ball one off from the one I needed.

We never stand or win... But the B11 dance is epic! :dogdance:

We play every time we cruise, its one of our favorite things to do. My DH and I took a 5 day cruise for our anniversary a few years back and I won the Jackpot that trip, around $4000. My last 3 numbers were called in a row, didn't even have time to stand. My DH said I just screamed. I had never won on bingo before and we play a lot. Then 6 months later the whole family took the New Years cruise and my DH won the Jackpot on that cruise, around $8000. It was crazy. I can say we took a cruise last year and we did not win so the streak is over. I did use my winnings to buy a nice ring that I call my Bingo Bling Ring :smooth:

I am looking forward to Bingo! DS was only 3 the last time we were on the Dream, he will be 10 when we go next year! DH is not a big bingo fan, but I am:flower:

What do you get for $40? How many people does that covered? If you select electronic, do you use your own smartphone/tablet?

The price varies by round. They have electronic bingo machines that they give you. The machine tracks the number, you just watch. You can have as many players as you would like on your machine, but only an adult can claim the jackpot.

My pet peeve: Every round they push the "family pack" of 2 electronic machines plus two 3 or 6 packs of cards. They always sell it as "the best deal" and everyone buys it. But I've done the math every time they say "best deal" and it isn't. The family pack is the one machine pack (say 48 cards) split on two machines (24 cards) and an extra 3 or 6 paper cards. The price per card is higher than the lower cost package that comes with 1 48 card machine and one package of paper cards. Yet the line is always full of people buying the more expensive family pack. False advertising. One cast member conceded to me that the staff knew it was not accurate to say it was the best deal but its in their script and they have to push it that way.

Yes, it's also a draw for the family pack when people see two handsets, as well. That helps to sell it. We typically buy the 48 card pack which is a lot cheaper, but has only about 6 fewer cards. That saved money adds up after a few games. On our recent Magic cruise, when I bought that at the first game, I did have a cast member comment that "no one ever gets that one first- unless they're smart." It didn't win me any bingo money, though.
