Biltmore-Asheville, NC

We are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach in June and are hoping to stay a couple of nights in Ashevlle, NC to see Biltmore. I just looked up the ticket price and WOW!!! $60 each??? Needless to say, we can't afford that plus somewhere to stay. Any deals on tickets or should I just cross that off of our wish list???? TIA!

Oh my!!!! The price of a ticket has certainly increased since I was at the Biltmore last. I can tell you that it is not worth $60!!! It is a beautiful place but we went on July 4th weekend a few years back and thought we would die of a heat stroke touring the home (is not air-conditioned).

You would think they would add air conditioning with that admission price!

Wow, it's really gone up since I've last been there -- and I thought it was expensive then. Instead of just getting a ticket, I'd suggest you book one of the tours. My favorite thing I've seen there is the servants' quarters tours; less opulant, more interesting. I see that they've opened several new tours that look interesting.

I see that you can save a couple dollars by buying your ticket ahead of time online.

This place is expensive because it's privately owned, and the family's rennovating bit by bit. The more tickets they sell, the more they rennovate and the more of the mansion/gardens they open.

There's also a winery on the estate, which many people enjoy.

You do realize, don't you, that Biltmore is nowhere near Myrtle Beach? Will you be passing through the Biltmore area on the way to Myrtle?

When are you going? Kids look like they might be free all summer? And dads are free on Father's Day.....if you go that day you would only have to pay for you.
