Ok I know I'm going to sound like a FREAK but I get terrified of comedy acts where they pick on people in the audience. I haven't been to this show in over 10 years and would like to go back but do they pick people out of the audience and make fun of them???

I'm always a target because I look frightened I guess. Even Disney style I get nervous. At the Hoop-de-doo at WDW I got picked on and was bright red the whole show. I wont step foot in Jellyrolls at Boardwalk. It's a problem with me.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE to be the center of attention but at my own choosing. :rotfl2:

So will I be scared at this show and get publically humiliated and be red as a tomato the rest of the vacation?

I don't know if this helps or not, but it sounds like you are the type of person that gives way too much power to other people to affect how you feel. Remember it is YOUR choice to get embarrassed, angry, offended, happy, etc...Don't let other people make that choice for you. Remember, it is only embarassing if you get embarassed! Easier said than done, right? Maybe but I've begun having success with this type of attitude and it is amazing how much better life is when I don't let other people's thoughts or comments affect my happiness or mood.... good luck! :thumbsup2

I completely know where you are coming from! I think that the bottom line is that not everyone is comfortable being in the spotlight, its not so much a power issue as much as just the way you are. I am much the same way but have never been picked at the Bill Hill show. Its a lot of fun and I love this one and can't miss it. I have noticed that people sitting in the front are usually picked and they usually are doing something to draw attention to the themselves. There are also a few upper balconies where you could sit to even further remove yourself. Its a great show, don't miss it!

:rotfl: Hi, I'm Shawna, obviously we haven't met. (I meant that lightheartedly by the way) I don't get embarrassed TOO easily. It's more of a spotlight issue as Amy&Dan said below. I'm really a confident person. I guess it's that public speaking fear too! Trip in front of a thousand people and I'll laugh and take a bow. Pick me out of a crowd in a show of 20 and I turn red. I really don't let anyone determine my moods except myself. But that is really good advice. Thanks. My question was more in fun than anything else.

OK this is what I was looking for. AVOID THE FIRST ROW!!! Take balcony seating. Thanks! :thumbsup2

good to hear. :cool1: Remember, when you are watching the show, you never have real negative feelings about the "victim" do you? You laugh at the show, not them personally right? Same thing if you are ever picked. Everyone is enjoying the show and they know it is designed to make you look silly, but they all know it is not really you they are laughing at.

Have fun!

No, I laugh at the show not the person.

Dh is always trying to drag me into piano bars. He doesn't understand how I can stand up on my own free will and do a silly dance in front of people but how I can't stand to be picked on in those places. My friends always try to trick me into going into places like that. :scared1:

One of the Billies 'teams' near the end of their set does bring up a Guest to play a fiddle with them.
They have fun, but they don't make fun of. They are all very courteous, polite and nice men... and they would never purposely try and make a Guest feel bad. :goodvibes

Just simply sit in the back of the saloon at a table on the floor or go upstairs and sit at one of the tables around the balcony. :)

Arrive early.. the Golden Horseshoe really gets packed some shows! Downstairs and upstairs. With Billies fans, the curious and the hungry!

In the few times we've been to Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, I don't recall people being humiliated during this show. It's very good-natured and fun. However, be careful of the "pre-show" outside with the "mayor" and other characters. They will pull people out of the crowd to be a part of their skit. I know, because DH was chosen! :rotfl2:

Okay, but Shawna, now that you have confessed this fear in earshot of the hyena's I think I sense trouble!!!

SHHHHHH the main hyenas havent found this thread yet.

I thought long and hard about this because I realize their stalker is exposing a weakness but I am only HUMAN! :rotfl:

Maybe I should ask the mods to close and delete this whole thread before it all crashes down on me.:scared1:

 No wait. I was talking about my "friend" not me. Yeah that's it.

I've seen people have a toilet paper scarf put on them (when Billy Hill plays Elvis), but no picking on anyone in the audience. I love love this show, gets me every time!

LOL, Shawna I have the exact same fear and I'm an actress! I love being the center of attention but if there is a possibility of me being picked out of an audience I shrivel up to as small as I can possible go in my chair in hopes they don't find me and they always do!

I recently went to David Copperfield here in Calgary and he picks people out of the audience(which I later found out was all set up)and I freaked out. I literally slid down my seat until I was invisible behind the heads of the people in front me and sat like that for the rest of the show.

When we went to Billy Hill or whatever the heck his name is my DH grabbed a seat and I stood in the doorway so that I could bolt if I needed to. I don't like those situations and I also avoid them at all costs. Stay in the balcony area and you should be fine.

Since we are confessing secret fears, I'll tell you my strangest: I cannot go near, look at, or touch soggy food. Cereal bowls left out are the worst!!!! barf. I can't even think about it....... yuck.

Oh no one of the hyenas found this!!! Christina I'm glad you have the same phobia. That is exactly how i feel. Yikes! you won't tell the others will you???:rotfl: Please.

I agree with you on this one a little. What i can't stand worse is the smell of catsup in the morning. If we have left dishes out the night before and just went to bed the catsup smell in the kitchen makes me want to throw up.

Just don't sit with me. As I'm a "regular" there, those who sit with me who are not are more likely to get picked on. They don't pick on me (except to get after me if I'm clapping off rhythm), but have been known to pick on people I bring with me who are newbies. But, you do have to take it with a good sense of humor if it does happen. It's all in fun. I have heard of people not getting into it and literally running out the door when they're made the center of attention or squirming so bad they look like they want to hide under the table. But they really are sweet guys.

Your secret is safe with me, because if I make it to one of the hyena outings I imagine they would all find it funny to have you and me sit right at the front and then point to us to get the hillbillies attention.

Rule No. 2: Avoid the front row

Rule No. 1: AVOID GOING WITH ANY AND ALL OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD WHO WILL POINT AT YOU SCREAMING "OVER HERE, BILLY!!!" (while wearing those LG hyena t-shirts) :rotfl2:

You're right, you are a FREAK! I agree with Patti, you probably will not want to do this in June if I am with you! (insert smiley of me pointing at you!)

Andrea

Darned hyenas!!! Note to self. Do not go with Jen, Patti or Andrea

Go with Christina and sit in the balcony!
