I understand that only the actual DVC member gets free internet access during their stay, correct? If I access the 'net a time or two, will I be able to see any charges on the TV daily as I can at Swan or Dolphin?

Thanks,

Whether you're supposed to be charged or not (since you're renting), chances are high that you won't be. The resort doesn't have a way to really know if you're the member or not. Just going by what others have reported.

I don't think WDW has a way to see those charges on the TV though that I've ever noticed.

No interactive TV for room charges, at least not at this time. You can get a printout from the front desk whenever you'd like.

Technically, free internet is only for Members. As a renter, expect to pay the $9.95 internet charge (good for 24 hours). The charge will show up on your room charge, if it doesn't then cosider it being a little pixiedust:

I thought I read that this would not apply to "rented points"... only CRO. Technically, we're not allowed to rent points. But we can have guests and I think our guests get the free Internet.

At least I think so.....

My understanding was that it was for members only, not their guests but I could be wrong.

We are allowed to rent points occasionally but are suppose to let MS know they are renters.

According to Member Services, "free wired internet access is available to ANYONE staying on points at a DVC Resort".

I've posted this several times before, doesn't anyone listen to me? :confused3

I'm sorry.... what did you say? ;)

I'll take that as a definitive answer.

I don't think so. I think we're supposes to let them know the names of our guests.

Not my forte, but... anybody else know for sure?

I'm listening and I choose to believe. Thanks to all for your input.

Don't be surprised if it's free some days and you get charged for other days. The free Internet access is a fairly recent perk for DVC and based on some of the trip reports I've read they don't seem to have the kinks worked out yet.

A little off topic, but someone asked for clarification.

Back in the day owners were supposed to tell Member Services if the reservation they were making was a rental. Then came the "rental backlash" and Member Services Cast Members started trying to tell owners that they could not rent. I will not take the "can we legally rent" bait, but will say that most members started just using the term "guest" if the reservation was for anyone other than themselves regardless of whether money changed hands.

I do not know what Member Services would do now if you told them the reservation was a rental, but I would not want to find out the hard way!

I talked to MS today, and they said that it would only be free if the Member was staying, not for any guests/family members. I suspect that this gets enforced in a very sporadic way, much like the free-valet perk, but I really don't like this policy. It seems to me that it should be either free-when-staying-with-points or not.

Please PM me the name of the Advisor that you talked to. According to DVC Management, you were given incorrect information and the Advisor needs additional training.

Just wanted to let you know our experience 4 weeks ago as renters at the BWV. My DS(14) was really begging to get online so we caved for 1 day. Told him we would be charged so he could only have 24 hours. We fully expected to see a charge on our bill and as luck would have it, we were never charged!!
