Billboard is up - with photo!

I don't if this has been reported yet but the new DVC billboard is now up.

It is a red DVC shuttle driven by Goofy. Text is "Discover the Best Kept Disney Secret" and "Vacation Ownership With True Character".

The small sign that has been there for weeks is now gone. Notice the group of DVC brass admiring the new addition. (Taken this morning about 9:00am)

Well, at least we now know the answer to the riddle, "How many DVC brass does it take to admire a new billboard?" (Answer: 7). :rotfl:

I hope you have a Federal Gov't Blackberry, Doc. It could be the end of your wireless fun if the lawsuit goes through.

I wouldn't worry... If the judge does order them shutdown, I'll bet money within a week Blackberry reaches an agreement to have them back up. There is just too much money at stake. It has been fun to follow that case though

I think it looks weird with that other sign behind it and sticking out at the bottom.

Thanks for posting the pic but dannnngggggggggggg thats so sad, kind of a let down...

Oooo, Im kinda thinking some of the advertising budget should have went towards something like dues :rotfl2: . I still have high hopes but I think I was more excited :coffee: last month seeing the gift sign!! Okay who's the first to start a new rumor thread???? :cheer2:

I thought the same thing when I first saw it but after analyzing it I think it is supposed to be a piece of road.

Thanks Doc for all your efforts!

I think that's supposed to be the road for the van. Otherwise, the van would look like it was floating in air.

Personally, I think the billboard is a waste of money, just my opinion.
Disney Vacation Development, Inc. spends money on marketing to build awareness of Disney Vacation Club. Compared to the booths at the theme parks and the desks at all the resorts — which have to be staffed with people — the new sign is probably a comparatively small marketing expense.

"Discover the Best Kept Disney Secret" has been the DVC slogan for some time now. I had not seen the "Vacation Ownership with True Character" line before; that's quite clever.

To those who were disappointed that the billboard wasn't used to announce a future DVC resort... Don't be discouraged. As SSR approaches sell-out, DVD will undoubtedly announce a new DVC resort. But they won't use a billboard to do so. So far, all new DVC resorts have been announced with a press release. Billboards are not used to promote things that are not yet for sale.

I could see a billboard to announce your billboard if the main event DID something..does it light up at night? Have any moving parts? Sing? Dance?

Well, it's a very nice RED color, I guess......I think I preferred the sign for the DVC resort at the intersection across from the non-Disney Bonnet Creek Stuff, FWIW. :rotfl:

Thanks Doc, nice to know my source was right, when I was told that the billboard will not announce any new resort development; but will promote on site awareness of DVC. :thumbsup2

But then I knew Mickey ::MickeyMo knew what he was talking about. ;)

I'm not sure why anyone should be surprised or disappointed that it's just a billboard. I reported that on that other thread on Dec 23. And I had a very reliable source. Others (including Sammie) reported the same thing, and they also had reliable sources. (reliable source = not a bus driver, not a DVC kiosk person, not a guide).

Yep, I reported that too. Great looking billboard though, and perhaps those Bonnet Creek guests who were told they were buying a property "in Disney World" will finally learn the truth!

I knew it was going to be a new billboard, but that's it??? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I like the the first billboard better!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So, do you think the billboard is really announcing a new slogan?Since "DIsney's Best Kept Secret" is not such a secret anymore, therefore they needed a different promo? Betcha there are will be lots of new pins, clothing, bags, etc. out soon if this is the new slogan.

Thanks for keeping us informed, Doc. Have a wonderful trip and keep posting.

I got too excited there, waiting for your post to open. What a let down - I bet DVC were having a laugh, knowing they were keeping us all in suspense. They could have offered free life time park tickets to the first few hundred of us to photograph that billboard - at the very least!

On my recent trip I kept wondering how DVC could be Disney's best kept secret when it is advertised on every park map, bus, kiosks in every land in every park, fulltime channel on resort TV, buttons on the resort phone, and even the monorail guy hawking it while we passed WLV. I think you'd have to be dead or catatonic to have not heard of it by now if you visit WDW.

Well said, Jen. The nice part about the new billboard is that when that one gets old, they can put a new sign over it, announcing the "coming" of a new billboard!
