My BIL is also my DD's Godfather. My DD6 had her end of the year dance recital yesterday. Due to money issues BIL and his GF only have 1 cellphone and it is his GF's phone. So it is almost impossible to get ahold of him. When ever someone calls the phone it just rings and goes to voicemail. My MIL hasn't been able to get ahold of him since Easter. He never calls anyone back. I IM with his girlfriend a couple times a week. At family stuff we get along really well. I told them both back at Easter about the recital and that we were having DS' birthday after. They were interested incoming but didn't know because of work.
We tried calling BIL everyday lastweek and never heard from him. So I emailed his GF and she said they were coming and to get them presale tickets to the recital. We were buying all the familes tickets. They know that we don't care about gifts for DS. For example for Christmas we just agree to have them out to play with the kids. The kids enjoy spending time with them and not having to share them.
So it comes time for the recital. They are no call no show. My DH has called many times to try to get ahold of him. DH is getting pretty ticked, because BIL has done this before. We are out $15. I know it is not a lot of money but it is just the point. My DD was upset at the end of the recital that her uncle was not there. They are close and I am afraid that it is going to stop because is always a no call no show for her events. She even said" Why doesn't he call to let me know." Do I keep making excuses to protect her or tell her how it really is?
