Bike Rental Questions

I am not soliciting business, but I have several questions for FW campers.

My wife is looking to start a business renting Bikes to FW campers. I realize that the Bike Barn rents, but I also realize that they close at 5:00 and bikes need to be returned by that time.

She would provide bikes for the entire stay, equip them with headlights and tail lights for getting around at night. Provide helmets, delivery and pickup (overflow parking lot)

She would have:

Hybrid-Mountain Bikes, Beach cruisers, kid trailers, kid tandem (attach to back of bigger bike), kid bikes, etc. Also, possibly provide jogging strollers.

Other options, adult three wheelers w/baskets, and Tandems (old fashion bicycle built for two).

She would charge anywhere between $50 - $70 per week ($10-$14 per day).

Bikes would have the following:

- Headlights/taillights (all)
- Helmets (all)
- Training wheels (as needed)
- Baskets (some)
- Bike locks (possible all)

Could you see this working out? Once again, not a solicitation, just a business viability question.

I was actually wondering yesterday if there was a business that did that. The reason it crossed my mind was because I was looking at www.abbf.com which rents and delivers strollers and much more. Our van is going to be packed! Even with the luggage rack loaded. If I can get out of hauling a stroller (well actually 2) at a reasonable price I am considering it!

Well the same runs true with bikes. We have 6 in our family. We can manage it with a bike rack but whew! I really would like to have our bikes at FW.

It would have to be very reasonable for me to consider it since I have 6 in my family. My youngest our 3 year old twins. I would like to bring our kid tandem and would consider renting one of those if it was available.

I would definately think there is a need for this service IF (there is always an if!) the powers that be at FW would allow you to deliver there. Just thinking about the off-site golf cart rental services--they once were allowed to deliver to FW but now they are not.

I'd also be sure to check out your liability if someone were to be injured riding one of your bikes.......

I wonder if you will be allowed to deliver...it was my understanding that there used to be a company (Enterprise??something) that used to deliver the golf carts and much cheaper rates than Disney offers them at. I think now you have to pick them up yourself. Perhaps you could set a destination close to FW for pick ups and drop offs. Sounds like a good idea.

i know that FW will not let us deliver into the campground. We hope to deliver from the (Hoop-dee-doo parking lot).

Anyway, hope to offer an alternative for those that can't get the bikes down or are staying in the cabins (after flying in).

I was doing a search this evening for bike rentals and stumbled on this thread. Does anyone know whatever came of this idea? We could haul our bikes down to FtW, but would consider renting if it was easier.

We tried to get some traction with this, but no one ever really wanted to commit. Everyone liked the idea, but when it came down to it....
