Biggest Loser show chit-chat

I remember Neil drinking the water - he had a strategy and he was not subtle about making his plan work.

I think some people go on there without truly realizing what is expected and decide they don't really want it. Was it Kelly's ex-husband that really didn't try too hard at all. I remember they went home for a visit and he went straight back to his bad eating habits without even trying to stay on program.

Other than Ron, has there ever been a male manipulator? I can only remember ladies...I'm just glad every week we don't hear them say ad nauseum "Blank needs to be here". You all need to be there, and so do I! But you are there, so you should do your best to stay as long as you can. If you don't, I don't care if it is a personal sacrifice, you are not doing your best.

I know those are harsh words, I guess I'm just feeling like you should fight for it if you realize it is important for you. I think I like the individuals better, when they aren't taking care of their relative or best bud.

Maria :upsidedow

Oh my gosh I remember that like he was the judge presiding over all the others deciding their fate! Got a little throwup in my mouth every week when he said that. But they all went along with it.

Finally I got to watch BL! & read what you all have said about it!

I really like the gray team. They seem to have a lot of integrity. I love how close they are to their parents (spoken as a parent!)

Green team- wowee! I was wondering what was going to happen if Miggy got voted off! A fight?

I can't wait to see how the blue & yellow teams did next week!

I'm not sure what to think about the red team. I believe Bob & Jillian, and I saw her smirk on the scale last week, just a little slip, which led me to believe she threw the weigh-in. I can't believe how hard they fought for it though. She really reminds me of Vickie! Except Vickie was pretty blatant about game playing. She didn't play all innocent.

I couldn't believe Jillian did another Ziploc placement. They must really force her. I wish Glad was the sponser, at least then she could sincerely get behind it.

Exactly - own it. I missed it about Jillian, Ziploc and Glad - what's going on? We did think she was laughing so hard at the ziploc plug that she wasn't going to get through it!:rotfl:

I agree - I think it's a lot harder than I think it is while I'm here on my couch! Yes I think that was Paul wasn't it? Poor guy. And then Daniel's team mate too, from the orange team two seasons ago.

Jillian says in Master Your Metabolism that Glad doesn't have the bad stuff that plastics have in it. Here it is from their website:

Glad food containers, wraps, and storage bags and other food contact products are not made of Polycarbonate nor is Bisphenol A (BPA) used as a raw material in their production.

I believe it's changed for Ziploc, since I looked this up when her book came out, and this is not what it said then, but what their website says now:

SC Johnson does not use BPA in its plastic products, Ziploc® Brand bags and containers, and Saran™ brand wraps.

So maybe that's why she can support it now?

I finally got through the show as well. Our TiVo just decided to skip it and we got it from the iTunes store, but it's been one of THOSE weeks.

I think it's a little crazy to think you can put produce in baggies and have that be the thing that slows the decomposition process - I think things go bad faster when sealed up in a bag - they left out the steps of cutting up the melon and putting it in the fridge!!!

Are we going to have a week where SOMEONE doesn't have immunity sometime here? It seems like they have immunity every single week!

I was so amazed at how hard the Red Team pulled at the end of that ropes challenge! I was also not impressed with the way that they doled out the 2 lb disadvantage. They did pretty well with not ticking people off with the other two, but that 2 lbs disadvantage should have gone to gray - two strong, hardworking boys - they'd have taken it in stride and it wouldn't have made a bit of difference. Two women with attitude problems? A two pound disadvantage is like throwing gas on a fire for them.

And I could not believe that they were considering sending Miggy home when the team had specifically asked for Migdalia to be the one to go. They aren't a touchy feely team, but the could not have been more clear. And I find it hard to believe that a further ticked-off Migdalia (from not having her wishes to go home honored) would possibly have been a good person to live with the next week! I think Melissa would be better off if she weren't such a SMIRKER!

I was so surprised when they went to Subway! Actually I really WAS surprised that Biggest Loser is advocating Double Meat. Also, where was the gum this week? How can these people be losing weight without Extra sugarfree gum??

I didn't get to see the promo for next week, but it sounds like it will be interesting, in its way.

Interesting...I didn't know that. Thanks! Have you read her book, and if so how do you like it?

We just watched the whole thing last night and I agree - give the 2#s to gray if you are truly trying not to have an impact or "game play." I think Red just needs to own it and say "yes we want $250k!" And I know - they wrote down Miggy's name?! Wow! Saying things like I wish you could have told us what you wanted...ummmm...I understood it, thought they were pretty clear...

:rotfl2: about the gum!!

I'm glad Stephanie from the purple team is still doing well. She's my favorite player. Not just because we have the same first name, have similar looks and weigh about the same. She just seems like a caring person and I feel badly she lost having the support of her mom there so soon after the show started. She's working so hard! She did awesome on those laps and I felt so frustrated for her when she kept getting the red X's. In the end, though, I'm glad she didn't have to assign those three packages to people, especially since she didn't need immunity.

Interesting...I didn't know that. Thanks! Have you read her book, and if so how do you like it?

Yep, I've read it. I liked it alot! Actually, it was life changing! I'm still making the changes gradually, which is what I'd recommend (instead of throwing everything out & starting over). I also did research on alot of the things in the book, to get some extra imput.

I made a little cheat sheet to put in my wallet, with the things to avoid, so when I get to the store, I'm not like: What was I supposed to not get?

The hardest part is organic meats. They are so expensive. And apples. Organic Apples seem to never be on sale here! I eat at least one a day. I know, that's all the more reason to get organic!

I finally watched the show yesterday and I'll say it quite plainly. I cannot STAND the red team. They are so completely full of it that it's not even funny. Eventually this game playing is going to catch up with them and I can't wait to see it. They're only in this for the $$ and even if some miracle happened and they did win-they'd be fat again in 3 months. Probably even fatter because they'd have more money to spend on food. Then they'd be fat and broke.

I love the grey team, they're in it for all the right reasons. I loved watching the wheelbarrow challenge and how even Jillian thought it couldn't be done and she had gone too far-and they DID IT.

I feel sorry for the green team, I really do. They haven't really reached a point psychologically where they are ready for this, but hopefully what they learn will be useful to them at some point in the future.

I agree wholeheartedly -- until they are mentally ready, they are not going to be successful in the long-term. I think they need more help than they can get in this situation, they need to deal with their issues, and then they will be ready to lose weight and keep it off.

Is BL taking a hiatus for the Olympics? That could be interesting. I will be watching it on Tivo from now on, I have to watch "Lost" live!

Maria :upsidedow

Saw this over on FB, tomorrow on Today show will be an interview with Migdalia. Might be interesting, I may DVR it.

Hiatus for Olympics, hmm, I don't know. They really haven't said. I am hoping that maybe they keep regular programming until 10pm then show Olympics (who watches Jay Leno anyway??). Plus with all the other channels under the NBC umbrella, they have plenty of places to show the games.

WE WANT BIGGEST LOSER!!

I think there will be no elimination because one of the single members will fall below. I seriously think it will be Miggy. She doesn't want to be there either and her head is not in it.

Man, I hope they don't skip BL this week but who knows? :confused3 Everyone seemed pretty teared up in the previews when Ali said there was no need for an elimination -- I don't really think people would be that sad to see Miggy go, unless she has some mega-transformation this week! ;)

DH (AKA Mr. TV) thinks they are taking a week off for the olympics, but it will only be one Tuesday night missed. Could be worse!

We have one tomorrow, though, thank goodness! I can't wait to see what happens next.

Its hard to say whether it will be Miggy or the person with the health issue. Again, I find the previews to be interestingly edited, so it is sometimes not what you think. Can't wait til tonight to see what happens!! DD and I will be on the treadmill for the first half hour, sweating along. (And me yelling, Don't hold on just like Jillian!)

I don't really like green team and the mom has spent too much time teaching her daughter to "be strong" instead of dealing with things.

The red team is strange, sometimes I like them. Sometimes I just think she's a nutcase. The bit where they were sitting in bed and she tells him she wants to continue working with Jillian and she was way too happy at that point.

I did like the reward challenge and how red and grey were really giving it all to get there. I thought grey were classy guys in how they picked who to give the phone calls too. It must be much nicer to give out the good stuff instead of the bad stuff.

I thought the red team did ok handing out the bad stuff, and giving someone the 2 lb disadvantage was going to make someone angry no matter what, so giving it to the green team seemed reasonable to me. If I'm stuck making someone angry, may as well pick the ones that are angry most of the time already.
Okay, so everything you wrote is what I was going to say. ITA!

I was so surprised when they went to Subway! Actually I really WAS surprised that Biggest Loser is advocating Double Meat. Also, where was the gum this week? How can these people be losing weight without Extra sugarfree gum??
:rotfl: So true!
As soon as Bob said they were going somewhere, I told DH, "They're going to Subway!" He was like, "How do you know?" Haha. Big surprise. But I was surprised about the double meat. As much as BL contestants exercise, they can use the extra protein and handle the extra 80 cals of lean meat (still a questionable sodium level though). But that's not as realistic for your average viewer. I do wish the show would talk about more healthy eating strategies for the home audience. I mean, besides gum. ;)

I agree with you on the nutritional information - I just wish it weren't so completely up for sale. It's been a long time since they told people to eat oatmeal for breakfast. Or sugar free pudding. Oh well. I guess they have to have sponsors to cover the cost of the show.

I thought of you guys today when I did the Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga DVD workout. Heba and Vicky were there! I must confess, I'd like the video better if they were not. Bernie and Michelle were there as well, though, so that was nice!

oh gag - that would be hard to do with those two on there! I liked Heba at the beginning but not at the end.

How was that workout?

I thought it was a pretty decent Yoga DVD - challenging at times, for sure. I am not convinced of the whole "Weight Loss Yoga" claims, but I believe Yoga is a force for good in my life, so I don't mind if it's not specifically cardio or strength. There was a strong abs segment in the version I did (the middle level). And Yoga is the kind of thing where you don't spend that much time watching the screen, so I just tried to ignore Vicky and Heba. They weren't too much of a presence, but at one point I was like - ugh, Vicky. It was somewhere in the middle of their season. Ally was there as well - she was from a previous season of course and was looking adorable as ever.

Ok so is it on at 8 or 9 tonight? On my TV, it says 8-9 is a repeat of the last hour of last weeks show. Then the new episode is 9-11.

On the BL Fan page on FB, it says the new episode is on at 8:confused3

DD is upset because if the new one is 9-11 she has to miss the second hour (she is 10, I let her stay up to watch normally, but 11 is pushing it).

We are heading for the treadmills at 7:45, she says she wants to walk for 45 minutes. Guess we will see when it comes on!

I know exactly what you mean. I wonder if I could pick up oatmeal and sugar free pudding at Walgreens? I bet they might have gum, too! :confused3

I have that dvd! I think that both Heba and Vicky seemed sort of chastened, like they knew no one actually liked them while they were making the dvd. It could all just be in my head, though...

I'll have to check out the BL schedule for tonight. I'm tivoing, so I want to make sure I get it right!

Maria :upsidedow

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :scared1:It looks like the new episode isn't on until 9! I was going to watch the new episode and do the elliptical. I guess I'll have to do a 1 mile workout and then watch it in bed! I was hoping to be asleep early tonight!!!!!

Anyone seen if it will be on during the Olympics or is it taking a 2 week hiatus?
