Biggest Loser show chit-chat

I have to agree that Tracey looked unhealthy. I didn't recognize her at first.
I thought Abby looked great.
Danny was an amazing change, and looks so much younger.
I did not like Rebecca's blonde hair, and think a darker blonde would have been more flattering.

I was surprised that Danny didn't mention Liz at the end, and instead only talked about how great Rudy was in the house. Liz looked unhappy throughout the show, and didn't seem excited at her results.

I think its great that Shay is getting the second chance and that's she's getting so much help. Didn't she say somewhere else that she's got 4 trainers working with her? I think she'll do great. I think the show was too short and I'd have liked to hear a quick bit on how people are doing now instead of so much showing their moments at the ranch.

Oh, I agree! Liz totally looked unhappy, and I'm not sure why. I'm glad Shay is getting a reward to continue, I think that may be just the inspiration she needs. I would be pretty discouraged if I worked that hard and ended up at over 300 lbs. No matter where you start out, it's hard when the people around you are at goal weight and you have a long way to go.

I'm more interested in what happened when they went home and over the days by themselves. What were the strategies they used? That would be useful to me.

I was on a Disney cruise when the finale aired, and DCL doesn't have NBC available on their TVs! I read Jillian's recap of the finale in the e-mail I got from her, so I knew who won - but I was glad to SEE everyone when I watched it on my laptop last night. I was glad Danny won, and he looked great!

I'm sure Liz expected Amanda to be chosen as the 3rd finalist, but I knew neither of them would win. (I voted for Erin, not Amanda, on last season's finale.)

Hi! I don't think I actually commented on the finale! It was a crazy time of the month, I guess!

I thought Danny looked amazing. Remember at the start of the season when he was the weird guy whose eyes popped out when he got excited? At the finale, he looked so handsome, like Mel Gibson handsome. What a transformation!

Tracy DID look scary. She looked too gaunt, I thought.

I was also so excited for Shay with her Subway challenge. I bet she'll get there - she's got so many trainers now! I can't wait to see her again at the next finale.

Thank goodness the next season is starting so soon! Do we want to keep the Season 9 chatter on this thread or start a new one? Anyone have any thoughts? This one is not labeled for a particular season, so we sure could just share the link and add more people to the thread. Anyone have thoughts?

Hey Corinna!

I am happy to keep going with this thread. I am looking forward to getting a good look at the 22 contestants -- and also getting going with the inspiration I need!

Did you guys see that on Discovery Health, there's going to be a show- Confessions of a Reality Show Loser with Erik? I'm not sure if it's a one episode thing or series. Just a heads up!

I'm okay with keeping this one or starting a new one, either way.

It will be interesting to see another group of folks -- since this last BL was the first I'd watched in my mind they will all be the same people again.

Isn't he the guy who won and gained it all back? It would be interesting to see what he had to say about that -- obviously he didn't figure out what he needed to make it stick long term. :confused3

I'm good either way...actually if we keep this one I don't have to find the new one! :rotfl:

I didn't see that about Erik...I'll have to look for it. I did just read Ali's book and she said Erik was the person who inspired her to go out for BL (although her mom's the one who forced the issue lol)

I looked it up! Here's the info on Erik's new show!

Confessions of a Reality Show Loser Wednesday, Jan. 6 @ 9 PM (ET/PT)

Watch the weight woes of Erik Chopin, best known as season No. 3's winner of NBC's "Biggest Loser". After losing an astounding 214 lbs. in 2006 Erik has gained almost all of the weight back, leaving him at risk for serious obesity-related health problems. Determined to regain his healthy lifestyle once again, "Confessions of a Reality Show Loser" follows Erik on his personal journey to lose the weight for good -- and to ultimately save his life.

Does anyone else watch Ruby? Looks like the new season of that starts Feb. 14. She had a rough second season and I hope she's doing better now.

I just watched BL last night. I have not been followng the last few. I can not believe the amount of weight those people lost. WOW. Now I am going to have to go back and rewatch the series after all the comments. I am definately watching the next season.

OOH, can I join too? I love the Biggest Loser! :lovestruc I really want and need the motivation. THis is my year!

Of course you can join us! Everyone is welcome. If you are interested in losing, the Biggest Loser 9 Spring Challenge is just starting this week as well and you are welcome to join that at any time, as well, if you wish! I'm so excited - it's just around the corner now!

I just finished Julie Hadden's book (from season 4), "Fat Chance" and it was a pretty quick read. She told things about her experience on the show that you don't see on the show, but in the end, I thoght she kind of had just barely enough material for a book. She told a lot of the stories that we saw ON the show, too, so that didn't seem as fresh. There was more on her son's adoption, too, so that was interesting. And there was a lot about her faith, too.

Wow - 24 hours (though not 24 Hour Fitness!) since the broadcast and no comments over here? I guess there has been some chat on the other thread because of the QOTD over there. Plus as fast as that thing moves, it seems like it's easy to miss things like links to another thread. :confused3

Well, I will start things off. It seems like a real lonely hearts club with all the people who've never been in love. I wonder if there will be some new couples by the end of this season. I do wish they wouldn't send people away on the very first episode. The two teams going home for 30 days only to return for a face-off weigh in? It's awesome that they'll have Bob and Jillian helping them, but we don't really get to know them at all until they come back. Obviously, I'm rooting for the Yellow team of those two - they are from Minneapolis, after all!

I did feel so badly for the blue team as well, though. That mom was a trooper, but some pain you just can't push throgh. Hopefully they'll do great at home too.

I felt so bad for...oh, I don't know any of their names yet! That guy on the White team who is the biggest contestant ever? How horrible to have to sit on a bike seat all that time without any, you know, time to toughen up, let alone sitting on the bike at over 500 pounds. OUCH.

Anyone else think it's a little weird when Jillian perches atop the railings of a treadmill, like spiderman? Oh, and here's another personal pet peeve - that one woman on the pink team fell off the treadmill as so many have before on this show. WHY?? Why on earth do they not use the safety strings? I am so accident prone, I don't dare use a treadmill without the safety string!!!

That was one of the first things I thought of as well when I watched. I felt bad for the two teams that had to leave just after getting there, basically. It will be an interesting season. I loved the mother for the orange team. So meek and mild then after Jillian talks to her..........look out!!

Jillian being able to perch on top of the railings doesn't bother me. I just wish I could do it:rotfl:

don't know about anyone else, but the guy for the orange team kind of reminds me of Matt from season 2or3 can't remember which season it was just that he won. I don't know why, but when I see him all I can think of is Matt. AND! For some reason I think him and the daughter from the purple team will end up together. No reasons why I think that. Just a thought.

I liked that instead of sending a whole team home during elimination it was just one person. If it stays this way all season there will be no way one whole team will make it to the end. Unless there is a team that never goes below the yellow line.

I watched it last night, and I am amazed at how harsh that first trial seemed. That's a long time on a bike for people that aren't used to activity.

I like the pink mom, it was great to see her get fiesty!
I like the big Italian white team guy. I laughed at the weigh in when he said something about his abs :lmao: His first loss was huge, but as a percent his team was not great. I think he could add some humour so I hope he's able to stick around :thumbsup2

I forgot about that!!:rotfl: It was too funny.

I was really disappointed with how quickly those 2 teams were eliminated! I'm glad they'll have a chance to get back, but it's lame that they didn't even get a few days on campus. Even crazy Tracy got to stay after collapsing before the 1-mile course was up on season 8 first day (because they didn't vote people off on the 1st challenge, but still). I'll also be rooting for the yellow team - Mpls represent!
I'm glad that only 1 person below the yellow line was sent home. In his update video he seemed really on track and I was impressed that his wife had already lost 24 pounds too!
The Jillian-Spidey thing is weird, but I see it more a quirky than bugging me. DH asked if she was a hobbit.
Now usually I do not enjoy people falling down, but something about the way that pink girl fell had me laughing. True, though, that they should have a safety on her.
So far teams aren't really standing out to me - it'll be interesting to see the personalities come out more in the coming weeks.

I think the Jillian perching thing is odd, but always figured she does it to be face level with people.

I also think it would be great to get rid of the elimination aspect and see how people do when they all stay on the ranch. It was impressive to see the changes that the home twin made, but not having to go back to work, and being able to treat exercising as his job, should show up on the scale. I did think it was great that his wife had lost quite a bit too :thumbsup2

Oh, I was seriously annoyed when they sent those two home - almost turned off the show! But at least they come back eventually and they do get help. Still, keep them for a day!
Out of ALL the teams I did NOT want to see split up, was the twins! Ahh! But at least he was able to take some time off at home. And I have decided I LOVE that orange team mother. She is fabulous! And a testament to how awesome Jilian is that she was able to get her to open up and literally scream after just one episode!
