Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Um, I'm just curious.. are perogies really rare in the States? I have never thought of them as being more common in Canada, but they are pretty much a staple everywhere I have been here. Mostly Western Canada though... maybe that's it. And in case you were wondering (which you probably weren't), there are different types of perogies for every country in that European region... Polish and Welsh and German and all that, though Polish generally are most commonly associated with perogies. The best way (and probably least healthy) is fried with oil and then topped with sour cream and bacon bits. DBF has found a way to make them even less healthy than that... perogy poutine. I kid you not. Perogies layered with shredded cheddar cheese and gravy. Not that this is a HEALTHY ethnic food, but I am just throwing it out there (and it sure is tasty).

ICK to the poutine. I had never heard of it before a few years ago. A local French Canadian woman opened a diner and we went in a few times. Couldn't figure out the french fries with poutine thing until we asked. Like I said... ICK. Definitely not my thing. And it would be a way to ruin a perfectly good pierogie. I agree the pierogies are GREAT with sour cream... but sadly that is a menu item that is no long on my radar.

Morning all. I feel horrible! Bloated, indigestive, sore from riding, tired from not enough sleep. BUT---- DD IS THE STATE BEAM CHAMP FOR HER AGE AND LEVEL!!!!!!! :yay::yay::yay: She was 2nd on all other events, and second all around. I am sooooo happy for her. She had a GREAT meet, highest scores ever for her on floor and bars!

It's tough, b/c our little gym works out about half of what the girls she competed against at state. They are 4-5 hours a days, 6 days a week girls. We only go 3 hours 3 times a week.

Sorry for my proud mom braggging!

After the meet was finally over, 2 HOURS LATER THAN SCHEDULED :headache:, DH decides he wants to drive 30 minutes in the OPPOSITE direction from home so he can eat at his favorite seafood buffet. I really didn't think I ate that much, I just wasn't feeling well and DD2 was DONE after being at the meet for 5 hours and wasn't on her best behavior. I didn't eat any fried foods, just a 1 inch square each of mahi mahi and flounder, salad, and a taste of a couple of other things. I did have a small piece of baklava and flan, maybe that's it. THE SCALE WENT UP 4 pounds since Saturday morning. I really don't get it. I do feel rather bloated, and I know I didn't have enough water, but I didn't feel like I ate 4 pounds worth of food in 2 meals.

Yesterday's QOTD: I love fresh salsa with lots of cilantro, hummus, most anything Mexican, but not much of it is healthy!, and Chinese makes me feel bad. I think it's the sodium. I do like steamed dumplings.

Hopefully I can come back this evening and not be so grumpy! Apologizing again for the rant.... Happy Monday!
Taryn

WOOHOO!! to your DD. We definitely have some talented kiddos here! Couldn't be anything to do with their great parents, could it?? ;)

MMMM... salsa!

Great question on the ethnic foods. I don't get chinese very often, but when I do, I would say I don't get anything healthy. The healthiest ethnic food I would eat would be fajitas, done without cheese or sour cream, with whole wheat tortillas. Salsa is a favorite food of mine. I throw it in egg beaters many mornings, in salad to spice it up, on top of chicken and pasta. Lot's of good ideas here. I worked with a few polish girls and they always talked about their pierogies, and gawumkies and always brought them in around the holidays. We used to joke on the gawumkies which is stuffed cabbage because my mom was swedish and made them too, and called them cauldomers. I know the spelling is horrible.

Michael missed the bus this morning, so I'll drive him in a bit. I grilled a bunch of food last night, so I"m all set for healthy food through tomorrow. I did pick up a piece of carrot cake at the grocery store and at that last night, but at least I didn't buy the whole cake. They have alden merrel slices at market basket, and some days i just can't walk by. But I tracked it, and still have flex points left. Week days are definitely easier for me to stay on track. 4 days left of this challenge!!

Have a great day everyone.:)

I had forgotten about galumpkies (what we call them). My Mom used to make them but I have had them in a few years. DH is not picky AT ALL, but one food he flat out refuses to touch is cabbage. I like it, but I have to eat it out or at my Mom's if I want it.

I love the idea of salsa in the eggs. I usually put chopped tomato in my egg whites, but salsa would be much easier! Gonna try it soon.

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Is this the salad that you tried, pjlla? http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=23907835&postcount=1797
You may not have to start from scratch -- there are a lot of Disney recipes online.

I don't know that I would say that pierogies are rare here, just that you don't come across them all that often. The frozen ones that everyone is talking about on the thread seem to be readily available. But I'm not that far from you and I don't see them that often except in the frozen food aisle.

Have a great day all!

Nope, that isn't the couscous I had.... but thanks for looking. I will have to check around myself.

Good morning all. Sorry I have been so delinquent in my posts the past month and a half. I have been so sparatic in my exercise that yes, I did gain...big surprise surprise. A big..9 pounds in 1 1/2 months. It was very hard walking the same routes I did with my dog. It made me sad, and I would cry. So, I let my sorrow get the better of me, and I slid and slid.....until 2 weeks ago, my back started to spazum..the disks that are out were really getting to me, my leg was getting progressively number and I was getting a constant pain all the way from my back right to the top of my left foot. I decided it had been long enough, life must go on. I started walking 8 miles a day, and lost 7 of the 9 I gained. I have my yearly doc appt. on the 28th and have set my sites on being under 130 for that appointment. I am confident that I can reach that goal. I plan to walk 8 miles a day each 5 days a week. Time to get back on that horse!

Woo hoo! I am wearing pants that I havent been able to wear since 2003!!! :cool1: I really dont think they are stylish anymore (capri length, black with light blue toile print) but I DONT CARE! Cause THEY FIT!!!

Have a great week everyone!
They sound stylish to me!

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been so delinquent around here just recently - the kids' school closing abruptly, subsequent start at a new school with a shorter day and longer drive sent me more off-balance than I expected. It really has changed the terrain of my day a surprisingly lot. Follow that up with a quick trip to New England for DH's high school reunion over Mother's Day weekend and man, things have been off for a while now.

So here's what happened: I might have slipped a bit in the food department. OK, I did. I slipped in the food department a bit and had a hard time with hitting a training plan like I wanted to because the weekends were crazily full with that musical I was working on, etc. etc. etc. And I noticed my clothes were starting to feel just a bit more snug. And feeling complacent about food and being at the top of my maintenance range is NOT where I want to be at the start of this summer, which is going to be FULL of opportunities to eat freely, badly and with menu options not entirely within my control. I want my head to be in the right place going into the summer and I want my weight to be at the lower end of the maintenance range. Because it is all too easy to gain a few pounds under the circumstances and then I'd be OUT of that range if I am at the top of it to start.

So as of Saturday, I set my points back to the "losing" level - I make better choices when I don't have as many points to "play" with. I do still consider myself to be maintaining, so no need to switch teams or anything, I think - this is just the "catching myself before it goes to far" part of maintenance.

In addition to that, does anyone remember this crazy plan I had to do back to back half marathons the first weekend in June? Well, the one on the 5th got cancelled due to construction and flooding on the course, which is probably for the best. I barely feel like I'm on track for a single half marathon, let alone a double.

I'm sorry to make it all about ME this morning - there's a bunch of stuff I'm putting off even now, but I hope to catch up with everyone later on today or tomorrow! :grouphug:

You sound like you are right on track by not letting your weight get out of the maintenance zone... you are right about catching yourself before it goes too far... that is what maintenance is all about! Glad that the half marathon schedule is working out in your favor. Thanks for coming back and talking with us! We missed you. Hope the kids are doing well in their new school.

Happy Monday everyone! I've got about two minutes here to post the QOTD and then I need to fly!

Monday's QOTD: How do you imagine your life will change once your reach your goal weight (or get nearer to it anyhow)? Will you be more confident? More outgoing? More athletic? More energetic? Or still just the same old you, but thinner?

Since I am really close to goal I can talk about how my life has changed. First of all I am DEFINITELY more confident... I can talk to strangers and meet new people without having an anxiety attack about what they will think of me. Along with that confidence I am a BIT more outgoing (but I've always been shy and that hasn't changed). I am more energetic so I am able to do a lot more with my day!

I am VERY interested in exercise and healthy eating... much more so than ever before. I read about it and think about it A LOT! I am constantly thinking about how I can tweak my food to eat healthier and more food without adding more calories.

Other than that I am still the same old me!.................P

CC--so glad the wedding went well! :goodvibes

The sun came out for 10 seconds today. I think that was it until maybe Wednesday. It's starting to effect my mood. I'm trying to stay positive, but I'm having a hard time. I wanted to eat everything in sight today, but I towed the line. I wanted to go out to eat and have a beer, but I cooked dinner and had water. I wanted a big old chips and dip binge, but I had a Luna bar instead. Mostly today, I want to not be a girl for a month or so and not deal with girl things. I'm tired, and have calculated that I've had the "Reds visiting" for at least 15 of the last 40 days. Probably more. Yuck! I now remember why I cut back on exercising and started eating more last time. I'm going to do another google search and see if I can find anything out, cause this is getting OLD! Sorry for the whine. to everyone else who is struggling today. Sorry for the TMI.

EDIT: Ok I googled and found out diet and exercise, stress and perimenopause all can cause this. So, last time it happened when I was exercising a lot, and same thing this time. Crossing my fingers that it straightens out on it's own.

Have a nice evening!

Oh--QOTD--I think I am much more confident. I feel strong and I'm trying things I never would have tried a couple of months ago. I feel like I am more me. Like the person I want to be. Good question!

my calories have been okay, but i haven't been paying attention to the fat content! duh!
sometimes checking out everything can be tedious, but definitely eye opening!

I got my 20 pound clippie! I am so excited! :dance3:

It looks marvelous on you!

Perogies layered with shredded cheddar cheese and gravy. Not that this is a HEALTHY ethnic food, but I am just throwing it out there (and it sure is tasty).

That almost made me want to vomit!:)

Maria - I am a hummus addict too! Thanks for the hug, and I love the way you have it alll planned out for the day. And :worship: for your early morning workouts! Thanks for the hug!

Jen - GREAT job on your run! That is soooo close to a half. I ran once on gravel, but it all ended up IN my shoes! Never again! I agree with a Brita pitcher! Take some mugs (maybe disney ones) and fill those as soon as the first pitcher filters, then refill so you have a bunch!

redwalker - so sorry it's been so hard for you! I hope your pain, both physical and emotional, eases soon! Glad to see you back!

I broke down and weighed myself thinking it might not be too bad! BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! !

I had to :lmao:, because as I reading back through posts, I read at least twice that you vowed not to weigh until Wednesday! But at least you got a little motivation!

Woo hoo! I am wearing pants that I havent been able to wear since 2003!!! :cool1: I really dont think they are stylish anymore (capri length, black with light blue toile print) but I DONT CARE! Cause THEY FIT!!!

I found an UGLY pair of capris, with big red flowers, from 2005. I put them in my closet since they fit, but can't bring myself to wear them!

Been reading the last of the Twilight books. I swore I'd slow myself down on the last 2 but no dice. Asked for 3 days off this week so I could get a perm. I know it only hurts it if you wash but I'm very paranoid about the first few days--I don't want to put it in a pony tail and stre--tch my hard earned curls out.

I did the same thing with the Twilight books. I was like a maniac until I finished them. And I LOVE how you took 3 days off to get a perm. That is classic!

Corinna - so glad to hear from you! We've missed you around here. Sounds like you have a solid plan for getting back to where you want to be!

Monday's QOTD: How do you imagine your life will change once your reach your goal weight (or get nearer to it anyhow)? Will you be more confident? More outgoing? More athletic? More energetic? Or still just the same old you, but thinner?

I had a bit of an epiphany yesterday. I am terrible about asking DH "Am I her size? Am I that size?" Well, I caught my reflection in the mirror at the meet, and thought "I wouldn't say that girl is overweight." Of course I am, but I look a lot better. So yeah, I'm more confident. I haven't gotten to the more energetic yet, b/c I always have something to do with my energy! I do consider myself more athletic!

The sun came out for 10 seconds today. I think that was it until maybe Wednesday. It's starting to effect my mood. I'm trying to stay positive, but I'm having a hard time.

I am very affected by the amount of sunlight. My grandmother actually suffered from seasonal affective disorder, or something along those lines. It progressed to the point where she didn't want to move or speak on dreary days. With all of the TOM stuff you have going on, that has to bother your moods, too.

So I did half of Jillian's no more trouble zones this morning followed by an 8 minute ab workout. My chest, back, arms, and abs hurt sooo bad. I am battling a sore throat, and at first thought I was achy from a fever, until I remembered my workout. Still felt bloated, so I ate a Kashi bar for both breakfast and lunch, and a 6 inch sub from subway, 400 calories, for dinner.

Hope everyone is having a great day. Thanks for all the congrats for DD and kind words. Your support and encouragement keep me going! DD actually slept in her medals, and couldn't wait to tell the principal this morning. She had said to her on Friday to bring her home a state championship, and she couldn't wait to tell her that she had! She has her science test tomorrow. We've studied for about 2 hours, and will probably hit it for another hour before they get in the tub.

Night all!
Taryn

Taryn your dd must be over the moon!! How exciting for your whole family!!:woohoo::woohoo: Feel free to brag away...I love it!!

Redwalker...big hugs for you:hug:

Corrina glad to see you back!

QOTD: Hmmm...I see myself as Tigger jr;) A lot of energy, and maybe a bit more outgoing. (I can be outgoing when I want to, I just usually don't want to. I'm a bit of a loner.) A big difference will be that I won't be embarrassed to meet dh's work friends! Or dd's friends' parents.

Today Tigger you have motivated me...I worked out before I cleaned the house and then took a cleaning break to get a walk in. I'd planned on doing another one but I don't have it in me.

I have a gain this week :( but I like the way LuvBaloo puts it...a speedbump.:goodvibes

We're supposed to walk a 5k this Saturday but I didn't realize the pace is a 16 minute mile. :scared1: I can't walk that fast yet - what do I do? I don't think I can do it. I can run a little and walk, but I think that is pretty close to my running pace (I am slow slow slow).

WOOHOO! Found the book I needed for DD1 for school in the first box in the attic I looked in. I have a ton of books from my 5th grade teaching days and DD1 is thrilled as she is all set for summer reading with 2 full boxes of good literature that she can read and I have read most of them so we can discuss them as well.

Took DD2 back for her last appt with the psychologist for her neuropsyche evaluation. She told me that her IQ is in the 99th percentile! Not sure if I should be excited or scared or both! The doctor is more worried about making sure she doesn't get bored. She has a lot of DHs traits in terms of becoming totally involved in what she is doing. DH and I will go to meet with the Dr to go over the final results of all the testing in a few weeks.

Need to go down and get in a workout after putting girls to bed at 8. Time to drink my last jug of water, may have another partial one later too. Been good all day. Measured out a half cup of chocolate ice cream and had a tiny handful of M&Ms. Not sure what's on the calendar for tomorrow. No clients scheduled but I need to go to the grocery store at some point and clean up after the party more. Didn't get anything done today. Doing some laundry so DD1 has her soccer uniform for her makeup game Thursday. Later in the week it will be crazy with that and getting ready for stuff over the weekend!

I had to :lmao:, because as I reading back through posts, I read at least twice that you vowed not to weigh until Wednesday! But at least you got a little motivation!

I think I have an addiction to my scale! It misses me if I don't step on it daily! Oh well, like you said, it did get me motivated a lot!

Corinnak - good to see you. Thats pretty awesome of you to notice you need to get back on track so quickly. I hope I can get like that! :)

Flipflopmom- How awesome for your daughter! I would be screaming from the rooftops! How exciting! :cool1:

Rose&Mike- sorry about all your troubles! Sometimes I think I would like to be a man, then I step back and look at my hubby and think "nope, being a girl is good!" lol Hope things get better. Have you ever thought about having your hormones tested? You can even do a saliva test (which is suprisingly more acurate than a blood test I heard) through the mail. Just a thought..... :confused3

Redwalker - so glad that your back and good for you! I think youre doing wonderfully! :flower3:

QOTD: I am no where near my desired weight, but I feel like I will be more confident and not so down on myself. Sometimes I feel like I hate myself and that is NOT the way I want to be, especially around my girls. I think I will be more comfortable with my husband too. I dream of the day when I can walk into a regular store and buy clothes, so I may become a shopaholic too!!! :woohoo:

I worked out at the gym today for almost an hour, and I actually liked it! I did 3 miles on the bike and 11 different weight machines. I really like doing the weights. The baby didn't go into the nursery, my sis watched her, but maybe later this week.

So we are pretty sure we are going to do a Disney trip Dec. 8-13th. I also think we are going to renew our wedding vows for our 10 year anniverssary! Anyone ever go at that time? I wonder how crowded it will be. It would be soooo great if they extend the free dining plan into that week. Its going to be a big chunk of the girls Christmas gift, has anyone ever done it like that? I told them if we go we will only have a few gifts under the tree on Christmas morning, but I am worried they will be dissapointed. Worries worries worries.... but a wonderful thing to have to worry about!

I hope you are all doing well and have a great night!

We'll be there Dec. 1-9! It's crowded but doable. We went 3 years ago that week as well. It's a huge DVC time as that's the lowest point time. We're at SSR hoping for BCV or BWV!

Did 2 miles on Walk It Out! Still don't completely have the hang of it as to what I'm supposed to be collecting and what not but once DH does it that should help me as well. I had a ton of perfects which was cool and got several more songs. I think I want to focus on that next time, adding to my song titles. I did a couple songs 2 or 3 times tonight so that was getting a bit boring for me.

Watching DWTS now and heading for a bit more water.

Enjoy the rest of your night. 4 miles at 5:30 in the morning followed by 3 more at 7:30.

Oh yeah, I did about 9 today!

So as we are getting REALLY close to the end of this challenge....are we doing a summer challenge again? Please excuse me if this was already discussed....I haven't had a chance to read very far back! I know the summer challenge was really helpful to me last year! Can you believe this one is almost over?!?!?

Did Week 5 day 2 of the C25K Sunday! Movin' right along chick a boom chick a boom!

I was busted by Jenn on the BL TV chit chat thread.

Yes, I have been MIA
Yes, I have been a very bad contestant
Yes, I have fallen off the wagon
No, I have not lost any more weight (shhhh, I gained 2)
No, there are no excuses why I have been MIA

Well, except this week. DH is home with pneumonia. Not making my life easy by any means.

I'm gonna go stand in the corner now.

I saw a show about dumpster diving, I could NOT BELIEVE the kind of stuff that is thrown out! I've got an old ugly ring and small broken gold chain I was going to sell, probably won't get much but like you said - better than a kick in the pants! Who did you us
e?

--the Uof O is expensive and a lot of these kids are of the spoiled rich brat variety. There's a lot of foreign students too though and they can't take everything back with them so it gets tossed. You know how many cats I have right? Well last year I ended up with about 25 cans of tuna lol. I only go nights that I work because I'm very close to the University. I get off about 9 and have a routine. I alway park my car and do rounds, stashing stuff if I need to. The kids are used to people being out and looking. Campus security stopped to talk to me once saying they were discouraging people because of identity theft but I wasn't on campus so there wasn't anything he could do about it. I had a huge full bottle of shampoo in each hand and said-- do you see what they just throw away? He just looked disgusted said yeah I know, and left. I used to be prolific around town, I curbed the ritzy neighborhoods, Trader Joes, starbucks, grocery stores without compactors, $ stores were really good. The stuff that I didn't need I donated. I found too much stuff to mention at Petsmart..donated 100's of pounds of food to a plce that helped homeless people care for their animals. These days I just don't have the time to do all that. I will leave stuff on the top for people though-- hopefully someone else comes along to save it..

I used US goldbuyers. You can find the thread on the budget board-- people have had the best payout with them.

QOTD: Congratulations! You've just won a trip to WDW...one week, all expenses paid...you choose your resort! This is a dream trip, kids are excused from school and work is covered. When would you go and where would stay? (Sorry, the Castle Suite is not included.
)

Disneyland! I ache for it. Well I have a month to go. I'd love to go back in Oct. though and see the haunted mansion with the nightmare before christmas overlay. And all the decorations. I'd love to try the grand californian.

.What are the warning signs for you that you are maybe starting to lose your way on this lifelong journey? Is is eating more? Not journaling your food? Skipping workouts? And the more important part of this.... HOW DO YOU GET BACK ON TRACK?
Well this is new for me. The last time I lost weight was 20+ years ago. I haven't had much trouble at all this time. Going on trips and holidays did some damage. the only answer for me is to "save" calories. This did start me thinking though about our upcoming trip. I penny pinch so much it's hard to relax and just have fun. I'll try and bring some things to help make the trip more luxurious. I also pack very stringently. Since we're driving there's no need to--under do it so much. Explaining: I think a lot of the times I would eat had something to do with feeling deprived in some way. We all sacrifice, we all work hard, but I feel like I'm never really giving myself a break. It took me a long time to realize what was happening. When I did finally lose my 'control' I would fall hard whether it be eating, reading, movies. It's so nice to have an immediate want and have it gratified instantaneously. Now I still do it but I try to ration and be healthy about it.

Well, I'm halfway caught up anyway. Catch up more soon :-)

Morning all! I am somewhat happy, 2 pounds of the 4 that were up yesterday were off. 2 more, and I'll be at a loss for the week. It's virtually impossible for me to lose 5 before Friday, which is what I need to get that 50 lb clippie I wanted at the end of the challenge. OH WELL. I didn't get as much water yesterday as I would have liked, as I was proctoring the state tests for small groups and knew I couldn't go to the bathroom. Also meant a lot more sitting.

Just wondering - I've read the whole "muscle weighs more than fat" thing so many times. Has anyone found their weight loss slowed as they added strength training? This no more trouble zones I am doing is really building muscle, I can feel and see it in my arms after just 2 workouts! I just wonder if that will affect my weight loss?

Throat is still sore, but better. I am hoping I feel up to a run after school. DD has her Science test today, and when she went to bed she said her chest hurt. I HATE THE STRESS OF THESE STUPID TESTS!

I hope you all have a great day!:flower3:

Goal!!!!!!! (For this challenge :goodvibes) 25 pounds lost. Finally the scale moved. I just have to keep it off until Friday!!!

SarahMay--The next challenge starts on May 28. There's a thread started to sign-up, but we're supposed to keep chatting here.

Taryn

Taryn--I have been doing strength training 2-3 days a week since February. I would say the weight has definitely come off slower since I lost weight a couple years ago (though I guess that could be age). Anyhow, the weight I'm at today, is within 3 pounds of my lowest weight last time and this time my clothes fit sooooo much better. I got into smaller sizes faster and I never would have bought a 2 piece bathing suit last time. So even though the weight is coming off slower, it is so worth it. I love my muscles.:thumbsup2
Hope you get your run it today!

Off to the Y today to spend some time with my fvorite elliptical machine. Then I'm going to shop for a dress for our anniversary and get my haircut. I still can't believe I wrote the wrong date down. I have been really distracted lately and I need to get my act together. Hoping for a glimpse of the sun today, but I think I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!

SarahMay

Yes, Sarah May we are doing a Summer Challenge! Here's the link:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2466123

Slept in until 6. Will do my 3 mile workout at 7:30. No clients scheduled so I will probably stay here and clean up since I really haven't done much since the party. I will also get in some more workout time. I also need to go to the grocery store.

Time to get moving. DH had to go into work early so DD2 has to walk to the bus stop with DD1 and me.

qotd- I think when I reach my goal weight, I will feel less self conscious of how I look. I hope I'll be able to put on a tshirt and not worry if it is too snug and my rolls are showing, because I hope those rolls will be gone.:rotfl:

Just a quick morning hello to all. I'm heading to work early so I can get out early for ds's baseball game.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:Hugs to those needing them this week.

Graciesmom- we went the first week of dec in 06, and loved it. I didn't think the crowds were bad at all and the christmas decorations were absolutely wonderful.

Have a great day everyone.:)

Just had to post this...I was reading an article about depression and how consistent exercise can release endorphins to help depression long-term. They went on to list drugs that release these same endorphins, like cocaine. Then it says "Overeating can also trigger the release of endorphins" :scared1: Wow!! I really did not know this...this kind of puts eating in a different light. So when I'm sad stressed etc and want to eat...this could be why, my body is looking for these endorphins.

Wanted to share. :goodvibes

In addition to that, does anyone remember this crazy plan I had to do back to back half marathons the first weekend in June? Well, the one on the 5th got cancelled due to construction and flooding on the course, which is probably for the best. I barely feel like I'm on track for a single half marathon, let alone a double.

Sounds like there has been so much going on...no wonder you got a little off track. I am glad you have a plan of action again though! :thumbsup2 Will we be seeing you at the Minneapolis Half Marathon? DH and I feel like we are on track to complete it....slowly but we will complete it!

The wedding was absolutely wonderful. My sister looked beautiful. We couldn't stop smiling.

Sounds like a lovely wedding!

So I did half of Jillian's no more trouble zones this morning followed by an 8 minute ab workout. My chest, back, arms, and abs hurt sooo bad. I am battling a sore throat, and at first thought I was achy from a fever, until I remembered my workout.

Taryn - I do feel like I can do the half now, even though I am not sure I could have gone one more step on Saturday! :rotfl: We are getting the Brita and I love the idea of bringing up my Disney mugs.

I would love to hear more about your Jillian workout - is it a DVD? What is the exact name of it? I need to get moving on more than just running. I say that all the time and then do not do it! My goal is to get some good ideas and then once school is out, really hit it.

Jenn - I would time yourself doing a 5K this week to see how close you are. You might surprise yourself. I think if you really focus and work hard you can make it! :thumbsup2

Measured out a half cup of chocolate ice cream and had a tiny handful of M&Ms.

You are so great with this...I need to take lessons from you.

I think I have an addiction to my scale! It misses me if I don't step on it daily!

Me too!

I think I will be more comfortable with my husband too.

This has been one of my favorite parts of losing the weight.

Did Week 5 day 2 of the C25K Sunday! Movin' right along chick a boom chick a boom!

SarahMay - WAY TO GO!

I have to wonder the same thing. I have really slowed down but know that my body is changing for the better.

Goal!!!!!!! (For this challenge :goodvibes) 25 pounds lost.

CONGRATULATIONS! :woohoo:

Alright, time to get to work. No biking today as my bike bag ripped yesterday. I will run tonight though.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Jen

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Sounds like everyone is pouring it on as we come into the home stretch of our challenge. :thumbsup2

For those of you who haven't been with us at the end of a challenge before I thought that I would explain what happens at the end of a challenge. On Friday 5/21 we will send in our final weights to LuvBaloo. There will still be some chatter, maybe even a QOTD or two, and sometime that following week LuvBaloo will release the results of the challenge. The numbers are always interesting and help you to see the big picture. By the end of the following week we will migrate over to the summer challenge thread. I usually let the challenge threads just fade away because they are helpful to refer back to sometimes. Don't worry we will make announcements and tell you what is going on because we don't want to lose anyone!

Monday's QOTD: How do you imagine your life will change once your reach your goal weight (or get nearer to it anyhow)? Will you be more confident? More outgoing? More athletic? More energetic? Or still just the same old you, but thinner?

I think that I will be more confident and all those little frustrations, like why doesn't anything hanging in my closet fit, will be gone. I think it will still be a challenge to consistenty do what I should but I hope that I will be like corinnak and rein things in right away if I feel that I am heading somewhere I don't want to go. I think I will be more energetic and able to cope with the things that happen in my life but the main part of my life will be the same, only I will be healthier.

pjlla, I know what you mean about spending HOURS thinking about this stuff. DS was asking me this week-end how I knew whether I would enjoy being a nutritionist more than being a lawyer (it was part of a deep discussion on picking a job that you LOVE). I told him that I knew that I would love being a nutritionist because I spend hours and hours thinking about it, reading about and enjoying it. Now I just need to tweak the old applying that knowledge thing a little better and I will have it made. :goodvibes

cclovesdis, glad the wedding went well! Sounds like a lot of fun.

CCMostly today, I want to not be a girl for a month or so and not deal with girl things. Sorry for the TMI.

, Rose. What you are going through is very similar to what I went through due to uterine fibroids. It really is the pits. I eventually had a hysterectomy and was so glad that I did. Work with your doctor to see what your options are or how long you have to "wait it out" before they can do something.

I found an UGLY pair of capris, with big red flowers, from 2005. I put them in my closet since they fit, but can't bring myself to wear them!

:rotfl2: I had a pair of capris with big pink flowers! I wondered why I liked them and why they were still in my closet after all this time. I got rid of mine. I didn't care whether they fit or not! :lmao:

Hope that your DD does well on her test. Bless her little heart getting stressed out like that.

We're supposed to walk a 5k this Saturday but I didn't realize the pace is a 16 minute mile. :scared1: I can't walk that fast yet - what do I do? I don't think I can do it. I can run a little and walk, but I think that is pretty close to my running pace (I am slow slow slow).

jennz, I bet you are not as slow as you think you are. Try the timing like jenanderson suggested. I am slow as can be and still at 19 minutes a mile. I think everyone is faster in a race because everyone around you is, too. Give it a try. You already paid your fee. I know you can do it! :cool1:

Not sure what's on the calendar for tomorrow. No clients scheduled but I need to go to the grocery store at some point and clean up after the party more. Didn't get anything done today. Doing some laundry so DD1 has her soccer uniform for her makeup game Thursday. Later in the week it will be crazy with that and getting ready for stuff over the weekend!

, Tracey. This is a busy time of year!

I haven't been to WDW the week that you are going but I was there right at Christmas last year. It was crowded but still enjoyable and doable if you can get everyone hauled out of bed and out first thing. We loved taking breaks in the afternoon and going back at night. It will be fun!

So as we are getting REALLY close to the end of this challenge....are we doing a summer challenge again? Please excuse me if this was already discussed....I haven't had a chance to read very far back! I know the summer challenge was really helpful to me last year! Can you believe this one is almost over?!?!?

Yep, close to the end. Did you know that it was about this time last year that you joined the summer challenge? I am so in awe of how great you've done and how quickly you got to the century mark. :cool2: You are an inspiration to us all! :flower3:

Disneyland! I ache for it. Well I have a month to go. I'd love to go back in Oct. though and see the haunted mansion with the nightmare before christmas overlay. And all the decorations. I'd love to try the grand californian.

It won't be long now! :yay:

mikamah, enjoy your baseball game! :)

Sounds like there has been so much going on...no wonder you got a little off track. I am glad you have a plan of action again though! :thumbsup2 Will we be seeing you at the Minneapolis Half Marathon? DH and I feel like we are on track to complete it....slowly but we will complete it!

I think running a half in Minnesota is good training for running a Disney half -- same humidity!

Now I need to go and reclaim my 30 lb clippie. I'm 1 pound away from losing 20 lbs for the challenge -- which was my original goal. I think I am going to make that. I will be happy to be 20 pounds down for this challenge as last spring I maintained the whole challenge. (I know, I know -- maintaining is underrated :) )

Have a great day everyone and be strong!

That's why it's called comfort food! :rotfl:

Just popping in to see how your challenge wraps up. I'll be joining in on the summer challenge.

The house is nearly stocked with GOOD groceries, I cleaned a pile of strawberries and blackberries last night, hard boiled some eggs this morning and will actually GET OFF THE COMPUTER any minute to pack my lunch!

.

Good morning, losers, maintainers and the rest of us! Hope your last week of this challenge is going great!
I've been reading here off and on the last few days - and not had time to post...
Major thanks to all of you for your encouragement as I start down this prep for a walking half marathon thing... I am looking forward to losing enough that I feel OK starting the C25K--maybe sometime in September :) Until then--focusing on increasing my exercise til it's more like Tiggers :)

CC - so glad that the wedding went well and that it was a happy time :)

Flipflopmom--major congrats to your daughter--that is sooooo cool - what a fun way for her to end the school year - bringing home state like her principal told her to. With the weight gain from days of icky--I have found that TONS of water help me to literally 'flush it away' within a few days. Glad that your extras are starting to go away too. Hopefully you'll get some post increase quick loss momentum that takes away a bit more with it ;)

Tigger - thanks for your shining example of exercise--I look to you!

Sarah - I'm looking to you too--I jumped up and down here at my computer for your 100lb clippie! And that you did it by your year anniversary is just so impressive. Thank you for your example.

Jen - thanks for posting that thought about the overeating endorphins--I guess that's a reason to try to replace overeating with exercise--I'm loving those endorphins and have to get a more healthy way to get them ;)

It was so fun to see several people return to the ranks for this last week--and hopefully joining the summer challenge too... I really do enjoy reading all of your posts--thank you so much for the time that you take to share with all of us here!

Best of luck as we come to the home stretch of this challenge... I am really hoping to get to goal by Friday--I'm so close I can taste it (and it's a taste that doesn't add any calories!! :lmao: )

pixiedust: and :grouphug: to all who need a little extra right now!

:) Liz
