Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

QOTD: Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc?
I'll say Sleepy since I'm still getting over the flu and feeling lazy. There's a dash of Sneezy and Grumpy though. I'm just trying to stay afloat. This is my first day back at work in over a week. Being off last week made me realize just how much I dislike my job now. I'm already giving myself a break to come and talk to you lovely DISers.

I still don't have my appetite back so it's been easy to stay with in my calories. Yesterday I took a brisk walk for 45 minutes - first real exercise since coming down with the flu. It's progress!

Hope everyone has a healthy day!

Hi everyone!!:wave2:

We're back from WDW, and had a fabulous time. The weather was awesome, on the cool side a few days which was great for the parks, and there was so many Christmas decorations up, it was awesome. You all are getting in the Christmas spirit already, and I'm going to join you now.

On the eating and drinking front, I could have done worse, but I totally enjoyed myself and stepped on the scale today and was only up 2.6, which after burger king last night at the airport, was pretty good. We got in at midnight. Love the dining plan, but had a hard time passing up dessert. We did split a few counterserve meals which helped. I'm on track today, drinking the water, and journalling every bite. I'm hoping to see that 2.6 gone on friday. I know from my past trips, it is key for me to get right back on track, and this is the first time I've done that. The kitchen was pretty bare before we left, so I went shopping this morning and stocked up.

Lisa and sskem96- I'm so excited for you guys with your trips coming up. The decorations are awesome, and we were able to see the castle with the twinkling lights, and the Osborne lights. It really helped me start to get in to the holiday spirit. I do think that I must start planning my next trip to help me through the holidays. :rotfl:

My son just wrote his and his guinea pigs christmas lists, and on them he put "Joy for everyone", and in his letter to santa, he wrote- "I will do Fred's shopping, (our guinea pig), but I can't buy him everybody's joy. Me, Fred, and my mom will make joy for everybody we know." It was so cute and sweet, and really is what I needed, to remind me about the true meaning of Christmas.

Glad you had a great time at WDW. We leave in 10 days! We were there around the same time frame 2 years ago, and the weather was perfect, I can't wait! Working on packing today!

I love your son's letter to Santa, that's so sweet. My girls will be visiting Santa at DTD and I have no idea what they're asking for, so I hope Santa will let me in on it! We always tell them they can ask him for 1 item that's between $20-$25 because he has so many kids to deliver gifts to. Other than that, they're just getting some stocking stuffers and $100 cash from us because they're both saving up for bigger items that aren't in our budget. They'll get a couple small presents from DH's family, and my parents I think will just give them cash.

Getting the QOTD up before the day gets too old...

Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc?

I guess I feel like Doc today because I've been balancing the checkbook and planning the budget for the next couple months. Now it's time to exercise and shower, then get to packing for vacation next week!

Thanks for noticing! I was an regular on a couple of other threads, but they were moving SO quickly I felt out of touch in no time, so I kind of stopped "visiting". I am sticking with mostly just two threads here on the WISH board and just one or two on the Scrapbooking board.

It is really hard to be on too many threads. I have this one and two others that I try hard to keep up with.

Weekend QOTD: I woke up to a Nor'easter today and had to change my workout plans. What do you do when Plan A has to be altered, for either exercise or eating? Do you have a Plan B ready to go? Do you wing it? Do you decide it wasn't meant to be?

Well.... I try to have a "plan B" handy at all times, but sometimes a change sneaks up on me unexpectedly. So I guess that was my "Plan B".... I just adjusted my calories at another meal.

My plan B as far as exercise goes is usually to get in an evening workout when my morning plan gets foiled. If I KNOW I won't fit in an evening workout, I try to at least bring my sneakers to work and walk for 15-30 minutes during lunch or break time.

Sometimes you just have to go with what's available and even out the calories later. :thumbsup2 I walked 45 min at lunch today, so I consider that a nice bonus!

And, pjlla, you are ahead of me because I haven't even touched my cards and I really want to do them soon because they hang over my head the whole season.

DH informed me yesterday he wants to make photo cards for some of his friends. I think that's great, I hope he has a good time...I'll be concentrating on letters for the regular cards for my friend and our family that wouldn't understand his sense of humor. He wants to take a photo of ds holding his Halloween heads with Santa hats on

For Christmas it seems like I do less and less decorating every year. We are down to just a tree and a few sentimental favorites that I put around the house every year. No outside lights or decorations (other than a wreath on the door and a candle in each window), nothing extreme inside. I don't mind doing the decorating too bad, but the though of having to take it all down, pack it up, and put it away just makes me nutty.

Anyhow.... about the cards... I realized late Friday evening that I needed a "project" to bring with me to the swim meet this weekend (LOTS of time to sit around and do nothing usually!), so I scrambled to pull together a card design using supplies I already had on hand. I packed up what I needed in a tote bag and did the first part of the cards yesterday (border punching, rubber stamping and mounting some embellishments) and another part today (until I ran out of the correct color paper). I bought the two remaining supplies I needed today and will finish up the cards tonight or tomorrow

So very impressd you have your cards ready to go, and you actually make them yourself! It's all I can do to get the storebought ones ready! :worship:

Back from the movie! It was AWESOME! Or as DD1 put it halfway through "WOW!!!!!" QUOTE]

You did a great job following your eating plan, and it sounds like you enjoyed the movie much more than the food! :yay:

Wow! You did very well on your vacation, and I'm so glad! You deserve some time away with ds, and now you are off to a great start on the holiday season :santa:

Just finished all sorts of crunches and as soon as the girls are in bed DH and I are heading downstairs to watch the Patriots game while I do the elliptical!

Tracey

Tracey -- You are an exercise machine! Incredible how you keep throwing activity in there. Let's not talk about the Patriots. My heart is broken. :sad1:

I'm so excited, my family and I are doing the couch to 5k program together! I told them when we go they can just go ahead without me and then they'll catch up with me on the way back :rotfl: We found a great place to go, very wide sidewalk by dd's cheer gym. I got new sneakers today and was explaining to the sales guy what I was doing and he said, "Great! What 5k are you running?" I was like what the heck I'm not actually committing to finishing it! DH was there and jumped on it though, so we are doing a 5k in May. Yes it's a long time from now but I'm fine with that. lol

Very exciting that your whole family has joined in! :cool1: You are going to enjoy your new shoes and have a great time training. Fantastic example for the kidlets!

I"m a little sleepy, but happy, still on my disney high. Back to work at 9, but it's a short day, then i have michaels teacher conference, and am going to hit walmart to get guitar hero for wii for christmas. Don't know if that's a toy that will be hard to find or not, so I thought I'd start early.
I think starting early is a great idea! I'm almost done shopping for nieces and child cousins. DS is making his list tonight -- this should be interesting. DH has taken over buying his gifts this year, but I'm going to add my input. He thinks I spend too much. Wait until he sees what a Wii game costs. He has no idea! :lmao:

Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc?

Well... since there isn't a dwarf named "Busy", I guess I'll go with Doc. Pleasant, but all business.

I think "Busy" would have made a great Dwarf! :goodvibes

QOTD:
OK, I'm totally HAPPY today! Somehow, I am down 2.2 pounds since Friday's weigh in. I think metabolism has totally kicked in with me again. I don't remember the last time I weighed this! Can I put up my 15 pound sign!!!!!! I'm almost to 20!

Congratulations! Fabulous news! You are totally rocking out this Challenge! :cheer2:

Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc?

I think Happy today.:thumbsup2

Yea! So glad you are feeling Happy -- we seem to have quite a bit of that going around -- lots of optimism on the DIS! :)

I'm going to pick Doc today because I have a busy, busy week so I'd better get myself off the computer and into the shower!
Maybe what we really need is a dwarf called "Multi-Tasker", because that seems to be what we all do!

So sorry you hare not liking your job -- hopefully that something you can make better? Sometimes it's not, and that's when it's time for a DIS break, so good call! :flower3:

I guess I feel like Doc today because I've been balancing the checkbook and planning the budget for the next couple months. Now it's time to exercise and shower, then get to packing for vacation next week!

Good for you, taking care of your financial future! :surfweb: It sounds like you are using your time wisely, as well as doing the fun stuff! I'm going over my toiletry bag tonight to see what I need to replace. It is fun to plan, but I can't dream too much or I get too impatient! It's hard enough to keep my mind here at work!

I went out for lunch with a friend at a place which gives you all the nutrition info -- I had a filling sesame ginger chicken salad (9 ww pts), and now I'm debating my afternoon snack. I think I'll have it close to 4 so it will tide me over until dinner.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends are is ready to have a great losing week! :dance3:

Hey all. Dh and I did our second training session and my 4th time working out in a row yesterday. It went pretty well. Today is cardio at the gym then I am off tuesday to rest and have my ww meeting. Our next training session will be wednesday. Hope everyone is doing well.

As for the QOTD: Grumpy. I am sore and was up way late last night picking my mom up from the airport 2 hours each direction in the middle of a wind storm...talk about white knuckle!

Later,
Sarah

Worfiedoodles: It reminded me of when they left Pedro in during the playoffs years ago. I couldn't get up to do the elliptical at 5:30 this morning since I stayed up. I made up for it later though.

Enjoying supper with the girls before DD1 and I have dancing tonight. Still working on my water. I have been a cleaning machine today as we get ready to start decorating for Christmas and my parents visit!

Have a great night everyone!

I'm a pooped puppy :guilty:
I went walking on the treadmill for the 3rd time since Saturday and did it for 30mins. I went to my school gym to do it. But thats not the only reason. I had a bad night. I had bad dreams. They weren't exactly nightmares because I was hanging out with my grandma like I use to before she passed away. But then it sunk it that she was dead and it started to make me cry in the dream and I woke up sad and continued to have this happen through out the rest of the time. When I finally got up and felt sad and exhausted. I went to my single class for the day and did an in class project in Illustartor:surfweb: Then I went and ate some chicken and then went and walked for 30mins. Now I'm tired and it doesn't help that it was gloomy all day and that its dark already and I'm craving chocolate or something sweet :guilty: I've been sad all day it feels like thinking about my grandma. It's been 4yrs and a month since she passed  I just feel like sleeping :sad1:

I vote for the new dwarf Busy

I am on ly on here for a few minutes to see what is going on.

Friday I was at school until 5 doing marking period grades. Today I was back at school at 6:15 to get paperwork done. I had a math team meet this after and I am going out to get a hair cut. Tomorrow I am giving a workshopp and Wed marking period grades are due. I also have to meet with the supervisor about my observation last week and also need to talk to him about some of our student's grades.

Eating has been pretty good but exercise has been no go except for yoga on Thursday night. I can't wait till Thursday night.

Have a good evening everyone. I know it will be quieter soon. This week of the marking period is always crazy so I am used to it.

Hey CptJackSparrowsGirl,
Did you ever think to why your grandmother might have come to you in a dream? Maybe she came to you because she knows you need that comfort, she knows you miss her, but she wants you to be happy to. Remembering the good times we have had with others that have passed is a way of always keeping them alive in our hearts. She would not want you to give up on yourself, she would want you to be happy, living life, taking charge and living up to your full potential. Look down the road of your life, and see that you have many choices ahead. Right now you have the choice to eat the chocolate you crave or turn that craving into a craving for life, a healthy you, someone that can despite missing your grandmother and the pain that brings, can remember how much she loves you and how much she will be smiling down on you when you do something to improve you and the wonderful life you have ahead. There are always better days ahead.

Good Morning Everyone! I know this will sound strange to many of you, but today I am celebrating because I weighed in at 199.5. This is the first time in 3 years that I have weighed less than 200. So - 40 pounds to go and a lifetime of maintenance, but I am oh so happy today! :goodvibes

That is AWESOME dreamlinda!!! Congratulations!!! That is wonderful..and you will see as you keep going you will be stronger and more able to do anything you want. Your energy will be so much more then you could ever imagine!!! Keep going!!! You are doing GREAT!!!

Getting the QOTD up before the day gets too old...

I'm going to say I feel like Happy today -- I'm having lunch with an old friend, I've already done my 5M, and it should be a good week -- even though I'm going to have to pour it on to lose this week. I had a good loss last week, and that means double-time if I want to see the scale go down again. :goodvibes

Back later after I make it to work, gotta get the family out the door!

Maria :upsidedow

I would also go with Happy. And I am, I was able to run(dance) about 2 miles and walk the other 3miles. I am feeling good, despite my husband traveling in Denver. I am going to do the 30day Shred now. It is a good day. :dance3:

Thanks Red. Thats very helpful. I look forward to going back to the gym tomorrow now. Hopefully I'll have the time. I get out of class at 2:50pm and have till 6pm. I'm not sure if I'm hanging out with my BFF or not. I wish I just had a treadmill in the dorm/apt. room here on campus lol:cloud9:

Hopefully better dreams will come tonight. I believe my grandmother would be very proud of me right now doing so well in school and striving to be healthier.:lovestruc

Thanks for asking, Maria. My job isn't awful - but the combo of low pay, my immediate boss being on maternity leave, and some frustrating projects...
I do know that part of it is my outlook - at least that part I can change! I've taken to listening to podcasts or music while I work - that helps the most.

Unfortunately, I've ended up Doc today. DH is sick. The Sore throat devolved into a cough with an accompanying fever and fatigue. I sure hope it doesn't linger. The weird part is: I thought I must have given it to him because I had a little sore throat on Saturday, but mine just kind of went away. Could a 5 mile tempo run in the brisk morning air vanquish a nasty virus? Who knows. It could be two totally unrelated sore throats, I guess. My dad was supposed to drive up for a visit tomorrow. Unless there is a miracle cure, I guess THAT is off. ]

I made a really good quinoa recipe from the WW online recipes tonight. Quinoa and Spinach. I served it with some aduki beans and winter squash. Fantastic!

Bodypump class again this morning. I love how I can see actual muscles in my arms when I work out in front of the mirror!:thumbsup2

My grandmother has been dead for 13 years and if I hear a certain song or do something with sewing I can feel her near me. It is not strange to feel how you do. My grandfather has been dead for almost 30 years and I can't walk past certain Easter flowers without thinking about him.

Memories are very powerful

A Great Morning to Everyone!

Tuesday QOTD: Tonight "Merry Madagascar" premieres on NBC -- I think its the first holiday special of the season. What holiday special, movie, etc. do you most look forward to from year's past?

I'll give you a big hint on mine -- "He's Mr. Heatmeister..."

Up and on the TM today, and now gotta get breakfast and everyone up and moving. I was in bed at 9 last night, just couldn't even stay awake for another half hour. All that fresh air walking yesterday did me in!

Maria :upsidedow

QOTD: There are too many specials to count. We always look forward to Charlie Brown and Rudolph! I'm a Christmas nut which sometimes drives DH crazy! May start putting up my village later if I feel any better!
I hope to do at least the Wii Fit today to keep up my progress. And if the headache goes away I will do 2-3 miles on the elliptical or the 3 mile WATP. I'm going to lay low today as I woke up with a headache and stuffy nose this morning. May watch a few Christmas specials.
Meeting Redwalker for our sprint around the mall tomorrow so I really need to feel better!
Gotta finish getting DD2 off to preschool and get gas for my car. No plans tonight except for watching Madagascar and BL.

Just the usual.... Charlie Brown's Christmas, Rudolph, and Grinch. In FACT.... I can remember being at WDW in 1974... the first week of December. And my brother and I watched Rudolph on a tv in some sort of arcade at the Contemporary!! I remember being excited because I didn't miss our holiday tv specials, even though we were on vacation. The room/arcade had big windows that looked out onto the water where the electric water pageant went by. Interesting memory.

I didn't get in my morning workout today, but I will have a few hours at the Y tonight to be sure I get in some exercise. I'll try to be sure to get in 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights/Nautilus..... maybe more if I can swing it with DS hanging around with me.

My YMCA is offering a special "Thanksgiving morning" workout session. The Y is closed, but one of the teams (gymnastics??) is running a few classes as a fundraiser ($5 to get in and use the exercise/fitness room and another $5 for one of the special classes). It starts at 7am I think and goes until about 10 am. I am REALLY trying to talk myself into doing this. I don't mind getting up early, so I could plan on being there right when it starts. If I did 90 or so minutes of exercise and rushed right home, I would have time to shower and get dresssed and get the car loaded and on the road for the 90 minute ride to DBIL's house for dinner. It would just take lots of planning ahead (we need to be packed for the whole weekend, since we go to my parent's house for Fri-Sun and I get little/no help getting this stuff ready). I'm going to look into it more tonight.

Imagine the GREAT feeling I would have for the rest of the day, knowing I got in a nice long workout before the eat-a-thon weekend begins!! I'm really getting excited about it!

I am working in Kindergarten today, so I may have time to hop back over and see how everyone is doing.................P

Well, I am a big ol' grinch, I'm afraid. I am not that much a fan of holiday specials. I do like Nightmare Before Christmas and have fond memories of that Muppet Christmas Special when they kept saying "Watch out for the icy patch!" Has anyone else seen the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978? I like Star Wars as much as the next wookie, but oh man!

DH is seemingly home sick today - the crud has finally caught up with us. :sad2: I am hoping that it confines itself to him and is over quickly.

Pamela - I think it would be fantastic if you could do that T-day workout! A bunch of people on the WISH racing team are doing a virtual 10K that day, so you won't be the only WISHer squeezing in a workout before lunch! :-)

That is AWESOME dreamlinda!!! Congratulations!!! That is wonderful..and you will see as you keep going you will be stronger and more able to do anything you want. Your energy will be so much more then you could ever imagine!!! Keep going!!! You are doing GREAT!!!

Thanks Red!!

QOTD - yesterday I was "Happy", today ~ I will be looking forward to "The Christmas Story" when we get very close to Christmas Day. I have to wait to launch my Christmas spirit or I peak too soon. This year I am hoping to lauch the spirit when we arrive at WDW 12/11. Can you even imagine a prettier place (without snow) to celebrate the season?

I love how I can see actual muscles in my arms when I work out in front of the mirror!:thumbsup2

I wish I could say the same. Toned arms is at the top of my list of things I want. Right after I get rid of this gut and these thighs.
