Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

QOTD: Our Christmas tradition is that each of our family members (my mom, dh's mom and step dad and dh's dad and brother) come over to our place christmas morning. I make a ham and egg casserole that I remember we always had christmas morning growning up and my mil brings home made cinnamon rolls and dfil brings juice and we have breakfast and then divvy out the presents and take turns opening them...youngest first gets to open one and then the next youngest all the way to the oldest and then we do the next round until everyone is out of gifts. We do stockings just the 4 of us before the rest of the family gets there and the kids get to open up one present christmas eve if we are home (pjs). If we are out at a family gathering then they get to open the presents from that gathering there and don't get one at home. I love traditions and I love that we have incorporated ones from our child hoods and that we are bringing all the family to the kids instead of making them go to 3-4 different households christmas morning!

I am on track today after the pie incident and am contemplating excersize.

Sarah

I forgot about NORAD! The girls get sooooo excited to see where Santa is. Somebody also usually reads Twas the Night Before Christmas to the girls, either DH or my dad.

Ordered my photo Christmas cards this afternoon and picking them up tomorrow at Costco. We are using our family photo from the day we visited the Christmas Carol train. It was at the end of the tour with the table decorated and the scene behind us.

People think I'm crazy doing Christmas stuff already. I do what I can when I can since I never know when I will be working. Taking the girls to see Santa tomorrow in their Christmas dresses. Also doing some more shopping!

Tracey

PS Will do 2-3 more miles tonight on the elliptical while watching Biggest Loser . Didn't get the 3 mile WATP in today.

I don't think you are crazy at all! I'm done Christmas shopping and my cards arrived today :rotfl2: I will be doing both the family's cards and my business cards by then end of next week and they get mailed on December 1! :)

I find that getting it all done before December allows me to enjoy the holidays more. We decorate the first weekend in December.

I have finished my shopping but need to work on the calander for my new father in law. Waiting on his kids to get me pictures and info! I may call one of them tonight! Still need to do christmas letters. Might do that tonight too! I agree about getting it all done before december! It helps free up that time for the real joy of the holidays...the events and the time spent with family and friends!

QOTD: I think my favorite is going to the movies with my family on Christmas and Thanksgiving day.

I weighed in at 1.8 this week. I needed that. I had a wretched day. I felt like crap, and would have asked for a sub if it were not for two mandatory meetings today. As it was, I crashed out on the bean bags while the kids were at art. My velociraptor (biter) struck again, and my one para was a total and complete snot to the other para. I have really had it with him (I posted a vent on the community board.) Hopefully tomorrow goes better.

Finished mile 5 on the elliptical for the day plus did the 2 mile WATP this morning. Got 50 more crunches and 50 more reverse crunches for a total of 100 each for the day. Then do 20 more pushups for 40 for the day. I want to have another week of good numbers. Need to go eat a little something and have some more water!
Hopefully I'll get that many workouts in tomorrow. With no school, I'm still going to get up early and work out like I do other days and then just make sure I watch my calories!

Well right now, I'm stuck at school until the weekend:guilty:
And to top the sadness off. I can't try and use the treadmill at home when I get back because a piece is being replaced and so can't be used at this time. I may tomorrow try and go to the school gym and see if they have treadmills and try that out. Have my ipod and maybe listen to music, podcast, or even watch a movie on it:surfweb:

I apologize for not being around, but things are CARAZAY!

We right now are all battling the flu, including my almost 2 yo dd, who is just so pathetic right now. I pretty much have to hold her all day!

The good news is I have lost weight! LOL

I hope to be able to check in some more and read back through the thread.

donac, thanks for adding the word tangram to our vocabulary. I think DS wants to give a few a try -- apparently he's done them before but didn't know what they were called.

To those of you getting your Christmas tasks done early. :worship:

One of our Thanksgiving traditions is the DH and DS bake a pie -- usually apple or pumpkin.

One of our Christmas traditions that just started the past couple of years is dressing up our pets in Christmas outfits.

Group weight loss goal 500 pounds! We can do it!
average percentage of weight lost 0.25%

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week X? This week I’ve went with a simple TOP 10 LIST, which is actually 12 people since we’ve got 2 ties this week. That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!;);):rotfl: (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!

WOOHOO! I finally made it to #1!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!

How do I get the clippie in my signature? I tried and it didn't work!

Slow going this week but any loss is good!

Good morning all!

Congratulations to all our superstars and especially to our biggest loser, tigger13! :cheer2: All that exercising paid off! Woo! Hoo!

(Control and C at the same time) then go to User CP up at the top. Click on edit signature and paste the IMG phrase after your BL stickie phrase but you have to add the [ right before /IMG] at the end . Test it out with preview signature and it should work. If not, let me know and I will ask ohMom to help us out. You earned that special clippie! Those image phrases have to start with [IMG] and end with and a couple are missing the left slash -- I think that's the problem.

Disneyjamie and CptJackSparrowsGirl I forgot to say grab a BL clippie and put it in your signature.

Kelsie, can you take a walk on your campus or at your folks house? Maybe a nearby mall or track? A lot of folks on our thread enjoy Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds DVDs -- you can take a walk in your living room. They are about $12-15 at Target or Borders. Weight Watchers gives you activity points for just about any movement, scrubbing floors, gardening, walking. I bet you can come up with some ways to be moving for the next few days while you wait for the TM and the gym. You can do it! :thumbsup2

devonsmommy, sorry your DD is sick. :grouphug: It's so hard when they are little and don't feel well. Hope she is better soon!

jessi, sorry about your bad day. How is the Bodybugg working? Do you wear it all the time?

Its great to read everybody's traditions, and really neat that so many of them are similar. I guess "its a small world after all" ;) :lmao:

Oh, great, now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day! :rotfl:

Will be back later to answer the QOTD -- off to see what happened on Biggest Loser last night!

QOTD (completely not weight loss related at all, I hope that's okay): What is one of your favorite holiday traditions (whether Thanksgiving or Christmas)???

We don't get to do either of our traditions this year. :sad1: We normally eat Thanksgiving dinner at my best friend's house with all her family, then we go through all the Black Friday ads after lunch, and I meet her at 4am on Friday to go shopping. She brings her mother-in-law's left over pumpkin bars from the day before to munch on between stores. This year we'll be eating Thanksgiving dinner at 1900 Park Fare, and no BF shopping. I'm sure I can survive it though! ;) I'm going to ask my friend to bring my brother a carry-out plate from her dinner since he's house and pet-sitting for me.

For Christmas Eve, we normally go to DH's grandparent's house where there's around 80 family members. We go to church, then go back to their house for dinner and a gift exchange. Well, his grandparents decided not to come home for Christmas for the first time ever this year (they winter in TX), so we all had dinner together at a restaurant last Sat, and they headed south on Mon. I decided to sign up for call at work on Christmas Eve and I'm already working Christmas night, so DH might take the kids to his mom's for the day after I go to bed, assuming I do get called in to work on Christmas Eve.

WOOHOO! I finally made it to #1!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!

How do I get the clippie in my signature? I tried and it didn't work!

Slow going this week but any loss is good!

Congratulations! Time to take down my clippie I guess. It was nice while it lasted, but I was way up this week. :sad2: After you cut and paste the signature line for the clippie you have to add

Big Congrats to our superstars this week!!!!! WOW great job tigger on being our biggest loser!!!! THAT IS FANTASTIC!!! Everyone its a brand new week so keep it up!!

I did actually do my WATP video yesterday, so that is a start in the right direction!!!! I'm actually really looking forward to getting back to school because having that routine really helps me not go OP its been a bad week as far as food goes, but I am hoping today will be a better day!!!

Welcome to our new members!!! It is never to late to join up and particpate and the more the merrier!!!!!

Thanks to everyone who shared their traditions, there were some really great ideas out there!!!!! And to those of you who are already done with your Christmas shopping and cards...holy moly I am in awe!!!! I need to get started on all of that ASAP!!!!

QOTD: I think every single one of us has had to oversome some sort of weight loss myth or idea firmly planted in our heads in our journey to become healthier, What weight loss myth have you had to face and triumph over???

For me it was the idea that as long as I was exercising I could eat whatever I wanted, which was very self defeating. I had to learn that its about both watching what I eat and exercise if I really wanted to see the results on the scale!!!!

I would also like to take a moment to thank our VETS today!!! Many of us have men and women in our lives who have taken the stand and defended their country. TO all those men and women who sacrificed to protect the United States I would like to say THANK YOU and you are very much appreciated!

Thanks, that worked!

That clippie looks good on you, Tracey! You could add the / to one of the bigger clippie phrases since it looks like your signature has the room.

, sskem96, you had the winning clippie once and I bet you can get it again with all your hard work.

QOTD: I think every single one of us has had to oversome some sort of weight loss myth or idea firmly planted in our heads in our journey to become healthier, What weight loss myth have you had to face and triumph over???

I agree, jenjolt, that thinking because you exercised that you can eat whatever you want is a tough idea to get around. I think it was corinnak in our last challenge who said that she could never run enough to burn off all the calories that she could eat that made that really hit home for me. That girl runs marathons and she still has to watch what she eats and I do too!

I think the other big myth to overcome for me is that it takes time and changing your life to make this work. That is the idea that pjlla has down pat now and I am trying too.

Happy Veteran's Day to our US participants and Happy Remembrance Day to our Canadian folks! :flower3:

Thanks to Redwalker for all of her encouragement! Congrats on making the top 10!!!!!

I have to agree with the last few posters on the QOTD. I've had one awesome week so far and that's the week my exercise and food were both great. Most weeks I'm just on top of the exercise and don't follow the calories close enough. That doesn't work.
