Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all enjoying the weekend. It's been a beautiful fall weekend here in new england. We went to my brother's in western mass sat, saw my niece's soccer game, and then took a nice bike ride in the afternoon. Yesterday my brother was really pushing my sil and I to get out and climb a mountain, so we hiked Skinner mountain. (BilltM- I think it is in your home town of Holyoke- do you know it?) We drove up halfway and took the halfway trail up, but it was steep for us, but not too far, so we made it, and it felt great once we reached the top. There is an old hotel that was built in the 1800s at the top that they have restored, but it was so cool to see the old pictures of the folks way back who vacationed there. My son got a passport and it lists a bunch of state parks that he can visit and they have stamps in a little lock box with a secret code for each one, so he did that and loved it. Today he wants to go to the state park near us for a bike ride, and we'll find the stamp box to have his passport stamped. I was going to take the day off from exercise, but I'll follow his lead. It's been a pretty healthy and active weekend for me, and we had a nice visit with my brother and family, so I'm feeling good today.

I'm amazed at all the volunteering so many of you do. That so wonderful and generous. I have volunteered at my son's school, and helped out with sports as I can, but that's about it. He's just starting cub scouts, and I'll be helping with that too.

Yesterday's qotd- the last thing I ate was kettle corn, and apple crisp with ice cream at the Topsfield fair last night. I had planned on the apple crisp, but ended up splitting it with my son, and then he got the kettle corn, so I had some of that. When we were waiting in line for the apple crisp he said "now mom, what would bob and jillian want you to get" :rotfl: I said they'd want me to get an apple, but I've planned for this. I am still within my weekly points, and when I got on the scale this morning, I'm the same as I was on friday, so that is good.

Jennz- I am so sorry about your dog. It is such a difficult decision to make, and it's been a rough year for you. :grouphug: Love that you are thinking positive, and by keeping your other pup active, you're getting more exercise. Hang in there.

Congrats to all the losers here this week, and hugs to those struggling. Don't beat yourself up if you fall off for one day, just get right back on and start fresh. We all can do this as long as we are patient and persistent.

Have a great day, and a Happy Thanksgiving to all you canadians!!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

Ok, first it is snowing alot here! Yuck! Way to early in the season. No the best way to start my Monday.

I had a crazy weekend. Some of it good, some bad. For those of you who have also dealt with a family death, may be able to relate to me. My grandpa passed away 3 weeks ago, dealing with the sadness is bad enough, but dealing with the family drama, is enough to send me over the edge. I know emotions are high, but I wish people could grow up a little and focus on what really matters: helping my grandma. Sorry, just had to vent a little.

My food weekend was ok. Could have been better. I am proud of myself, though, because I got a strength workout :yay: in at the gym last night and then had soup for dinner. Yes, finally started my week off on a good note. This is the first time I have felt this positive in over 3 weeks!!! It feels good. :banana:I want to be one of the Biggest Loser's this week!

I hope everyone has a magical Monday!!! pixiedust:

Good to hear we all seem to be doing pretty good. I shoul have gotten in a walk last night but between the turkey leftovers, my flu shot I got yesterday and bitter cold outside we didn't. In fact I struggled through American Dad and crashed almost instantly at 10. Did battle with Katrina over blankets though--she likes that wool blanket all bunched around her I think, the great huge black lump.

QUOTD: What cd is in your car right now?

I have this:

1-4 Aristocats
5-14 Mary Poppins
15. Louis Armstrong Chim Chiminy
16-17 Poppins
18-22 Snow White
19. Music Box Dancer
20. When I see an Elephant Fly

I'm going to put the Sweeney Todd soundtrack in today though. That with Bach's Toccata De Fugue made an 80 minute cd. I love that soundtrack-- it totally cracks me up and it's-- great!

HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING!

I've had a crazy long weekend so far, driving all over the place to see family. I did fairly well with the eating... I indulged, but less than half of what I would have this time last year, so I was pleased. Last night I had cheesecake though (my biggest weakness), but my DBF whispered (when I was looking at it longingly), it means another couple days running outside in the snow (that's right, it was blizzarding here Wednesday and Thursday and the snow hasn't gone away). He asked if it was worth it, and it TOTALLY was!

Today I am making my very first Thanksgiving dinner for my DBF's parents. Wish me luck!

As for the QOTD, right now I am alternating between all of the "Classic Disney" cds. Usually in my truck I listen to Disney, or homemade CD mixes, or books on tape (I have about an hour commute to work every day). I also like the Vinyl Cafe cds when I need a laugh.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I was down almost 3 lbs last Friday, but I think it will have gone up by now.

mikamah - that sounds like a great weekend! my outdoor activity here is walking in the neighborhood...some new scenery would be great. :goodvibes and thanks for the hugs about my poochie.

Cinderella Girl - snow?!:scared1: That makes me want to go back to bed! Stress always twists up those family dynamics doesn't it?? It's enough to make me want to beat my head against the wall sometimes...:headache: always feel free to vent here! Great job keeping up w/the exercise!!!

QOTD

I have the Official Walt Disney World Soundtrack (the blue and red cd's)

Wishes

Illuminations

and Oak Ridge Boys ( does not fit the rest :goodvibes)

Any music that can transmit to my happy place, works for me!

Sunday QOTD: I have a lot of volunteer experience. I co-founded an organization at my frist college that was dedicated to volunteering for children's causes. At Truman I was a member and later advisor of a co-ed service fraternity called Alpha Phi Omega. I also served on service committees at both the Baptist Student Union and Catholic Newman Center. When I worked for Disney I was an Angel (volunteer) for Give Kids the World, the resort where all the wish children stay. I mostly drove the cookie cart or the trains Big Blue and Little Blue.

Jessie -- Did you go to Truman State?! I graduated from there a million years ago when it was Northeast Missouri State! I haven't been back since the early '90s, I'm sure it has greatly changed!

QOTD: What cd is in your car right now?

Umm, I have no idea. My dh listens to cds in the car, but I never do. I have 4 radio stations I like programmed, I just flip among them. If I had to take a guess, I'd say he's got Alice Cooper, Motorhead, or Ted Nugent ready to go. Not my style in the least.

QUOTD: What cd is in your car right now?

Barry Manilow, Mel Torme, Some best of Disney, Michael Finestein, Fred Astaire, Diana Krall. Yes I like old timers.

QOTD: What CD is in your car right now?
I have Wishes, the Hannah Montana Movie soundtrack, New Kids on the Block (don't laugh, I love them :lovestruc ), and my daughter's mix CD with a bunch of tween stuff on it.

I haven't been very OP the past few days. Went to a cookout Sat. night and a family dinner Sun. night. I wasn't hungry at all today though, and didn't eat at all til after 1pm, and then it was only because I realized I hadn't eaten yet. I had a grilled cheese sandwich, some grapes, and a small brownie. Not sure about dinner. DH is headed an hour away to pick up DD12 who spent the night there, so it's just me and DD10 for supper, and she's sick. Strep and flu tests were both neg, but the dr. wants me to keep her home from school tomorrow anyway because of her cough.

It's just so icky and gray outside I don't feel like doing anything. I have to go into work and finish getting the next 8 week schedule in the computer. I couldn't access the program from home, so I'm at the library now and can't access it here either, so I have to go to work. :sad2: I was hoping to avoid that on my day off! We also have a new puppy who isn't letting me get much sleep, so I'm sure that's affecting my mood and fatigue. Hopefully she'll be sleeping through the night soon!

I have The Return of the King Soundtrack, Phantom of the Opera, Love Actually ST, and some random ones in the seat separator between the kids. I'm also having a craving for QUEEN right now. I have all my Disney music on my IPOD and several movies. I added some more to the IPOD this morning including QUEEN, Hannah Montana, etc. I can't wait to put the Christmas music back on the IPOD. I think once we go see Christmas Carol next month I'll be able to convince DH to start decorating. He used to work at a Hallmark store and having to start dealing with Christmas decorations in July makes him NOT want to put them up too early.

Sorry that was off topic. I've got a cold and it's cold here. Did over an hour on the Wii Fit today and had most of my water. I had some veggie stir fry for lunch and a salad for supper. Did have a small handful of M&Ms and a Hershey with Almond, mini bar earlier. I'll have an apple after the kids go to bed. Hoping the cold is better tomorrow though I have no plans except taking the trash to the transfer station so I can take it easy. I may run to Trader Joe's if I feel up to it! Love their Orange Chicken, it's quick and easy and not all that fattening. Redwalker also suggested the dark chocolate covered Almonds from there so I may pick up a package of those when I need a quick fix.

Hope everyone is well. Time for some cold meds and the American Girl Game with the family.

I'll try not to ramble next time. I think I'm overtired from my cold!:confused3

Jessie -- Did you go to Truman State?! I graduated from there a million years ago when it was Northeast Missouri State! I haven't been back since the early '90s, I'm sure it has greatly changed!

Yep! I got my bachelor's in 06 and my Master's in May.

I saw my PCP today and I have found at least one good doctor in this area (results are still out on my endo.) I found that I do indeed have asthma. I figured it was a misdiagnosis since it went away for two years, but she explained that for some people it only flairs up after sickness primarily. So I now have Advair, Albuterol, Prednisone, and Flonase added to my routine. Hopefully it will work.

My IBS has also been flaring up more than normal, although I'm sure part of it is from coughing and being sick. The one advantage is I have not had nearly as much of an appetite, so I have been losing weight without having to put in too much effort. ;)

Tigger813, I am smiling that you started talking about Christmas music and decorating. I am procrastinating doing any marking right now, and I was just looking at ideas for Christmas concerts for my fifth graders. I've been looking for about an hour, so I am also in the Christmas train of thought right now. We have a rule in the house though - no Christmas music over the stereo (in earshot of DBF) until December 1. No decorating until after Halloween. :)
I will dig out my CDs tomorrow for my drive to work so I can get more ideas for the concert... It's not breaking the rules, it is "research" and planning for the concert. :):santa:

Good evening all. :goodvibes I am waiting to see if we get our first snowfall tomorrow -- not sure if I am ready for that . . ;)

QOTD: What CD is in your car right now?

Okay, I have to confess that my car is so old that it doesn't have a CD player -- it has a cassette player that I never use. My office and DS' school are three miles from each other and my house. I pretty much drive in that little triangle and just use the radio -- NPR or a local rock station. I do use my iPhone sometimes, especially at Christmas.

Tigger813, I was smiling about your Christmas decorating rule. We have a similar rule for Halloween -- we must wait until after our anniversary on September 11th. We have a lot of Halloween decorations -- I even have orange and purple lights on my car!

Cinderella girl-

Any music that can transmit to my happy place, works for me!

Amen to that.

Tigger 813-

You-- are an inspiration.:thumbsup2

I figure the internet is kind of anonymous place where you can be honest without too much embarassment, so I hope this question isn't too serious or out of line...I think though dealing with our pain relating to being overweight, letting some of that go can be theraputic. Ok here's the quotd.

Quotd Tuesday:
What is one of your most embarrasing moments relating to being overweight?

Mine is when I was about 12 and the teacher had left the music room for awhile so we were listening to records and I was sitting on a table with the turntable on it. I think I started moving to the beat some and a boy yelled get your fat ___ off the table. (I made the record skip) I wasn't even that chunky at that point but I remember being just absolutely killed by it. :(
