Time to change my clippie! I have reached 20.3 pounds for the challenge!!!! I am sooooo excited! Wearing a pair of size 12 jeans really comfortably today! And I've lost 5.2 pounds since last Friday!!!!!

Time to change my clippie! I have reached 20.3 pounds for the challenge!!!! I am sooooo excited! Wearing a pair of size 12 jeans really comfortably today! And I've lost 5.2 pounds since last Friday!!!!!

Let me be the first to say "WAY TO GO"!!!:yay:

You have been on FIRE lately! Send some of that energy to me!...P

Here is a problem: I've been invited to a Cookie Exchange party that is being hosted by a lovely woman from Church. I hate to turn down an invitation for a social gathering, but honestly, I do not want to bake 6 dozen cookies, I do not want to have six dozen cookies in the house. Cookies are....well, they are DANGEROUS, that is what they are! One cookie is doable, but they have the perfect storm of attributes to make them highly addictive. They have the sugar, fat and just a little bit of salt layered together which tweaks that "Eat more" part of the brain. They are also something you eat by hand without a fork or spoon, can eat on the run and can break off a piece at a time to fool yourself into thinking you're not really eating a whole cookie so it doesn't need to be tracked.

So I'm not quite sure what to do. Do I bake cookies and then not take any home with me? Do I decline to attend? Do I ask if I can attend without bringing cookies? It is a celebration of cookies! Does an alcoholic go to a wine tasting, even if invited by a lovely woman at church who is trying to include her? Maybe, but she sure doesn't take 6 bottles home with her, right??? I am open to thoughts or suggestions. :)

Wow, what a dilemma! You said it yourself -- you don't want to bake cookies or have cookies. I would say explain to the nice lady from church that you are training for the marathon in January and that you can't make the exchange but make arrangements to do something like go out for coffee
-- have some alternate social activity since it sounds like you would get to know her better. Or do as pjlla said, buy the cookies and don't take any cookies home.

I will deal with stress better as a comittment. I'll be organized and not put things off so they build up. I will also commit to my walks with my son although it is freeeezing cold here. We went last night and a good scarf made all the difference. I want to go all over the neighborhood to see peoples decorations and lights. Well I better go-- the roads are icy so I have to not do my usual mad dash :rolleyes1

It is a busy time of year for you at work, Susan. Good job getting out there and walking. I need to do that tonight -- I'm sure it won't be too bad once I get out there. You are right that the right gear is key!

I'm thinking ahead to my weight loss and maintenance for next year. I am thinking of buying or making myself a "healthy" calendar for next year to plan and track my exercise and eating. I do good with my food journal and I do track my minutes of exercise in my food journal, but I don't keep real detailed records. It would be nice to have a PLAN also. When I get to the Y I usually start with 20-30 minutes on the Treadclimber, but beyond that I just kind of wing it... I go with whatever suits my mood for the day. It would be great to have a PLAN every day. Does anyone else do that?

pjlla, I think that you should give yourself the present of a couple of sessions with a trainer at the Y for Christmas. You work so hard on trying to find workouts that are challenging for you and that you will enjoy. You've worked hard and deserve a little input from someone else. That would be a great reward for making your goal! :cool1:

Time to change my clippie! I have reached 20.3 pounds for the challenge!!!! I am sooooo excited! Wearing a pair of size 12 jeans really comfortably today! And I've lost 5.2 pounds since last Friday!!!!!

Woo! Hoo! Way to go, tigger813. You are workout machine, girl! :cool1: :cheer2:

Better get myself on track here at work!

My funny Disney story is for this year. We will be at WDW. DS who is 10 understands that we can't take his presents back and forth. He asked that I take pictures of his presents before wrapping them. Then I am to wrap the pictures and bring them to WDW. On Christmas morning he will unwrap the pictures so he can see what he got.

Have a great day all! :goodvibes

I LOVE this! So funny!

Thurs QOTD- What can you commit to today for the next 2 weeks to keep on track, and finish this challenge strong?

Here is a problem: I've been invited to a Cookie Exchange party that is being hosted by a lovely woman from Church. Yeah, I am HOSTING a cookie exchange this weekend! It was actually suggested by the WW meeting I attend. The idea is that you get to try a couple different types and don't have to bake so much and have so much around. I will be having some cookies at the exchange and putting a few aside for the kiddos and santa and the rest are going to my co-workers (a bunch of guys - they can decimate cookies!) Good luck with your decision!

Time to change my clippie! I have reached 20.3 pounds for the challenge!!!! I am sooooo excited! Wearing a pair of size 12 jeans really comfortably today! And I've lost 5.2 pounds since last Friday!!!!!

Congrats on the new clippie and AWESOME loss for the week! Way to go!

I've been thinking of doing this for DH! We spend Christmas at my folks house, which is a plane ride away. DD is young enough and gets plenty of toys from my parents. But the stuff DH wants this year is either too heavy or already in use! (He bought himself an HD Tivo).

Thurs QOTD- What can you commit to today for the next 2 weeks to keep on track, and finish this challenge strong?
I'm committing to journaling my food and exercising 45 minutes/day, 6 days/wk.

I am finally able to catch up on QOTD! You guys have been incredibly busy!

Saturday QOTD- When and where was your last disney vacation, and when do you think you will be going again? For those who have been to more than one disney parks/cruises, what is your favorite?

Our last Disney vacation was at WDW in January for the WDW Half Marathon, and we will be going again Jan 2010 for the WDW Half Marathon. We have been to WDW and cruised on the Wonder, and I prefer WDW for an active vacation, and the Wonder for relaxing. I guess if I had to pick a favorite it would be the Wonder, I enjoy the relaxation more than the rides.

Sunday QOTD- What do you say or do when people try to push food on you at parties? Is there anyone you will be seeing at the holidays who tries to sabotage your weight loss efforts, and how can you handle them?

I just decline politely if it's something I don't want or feel I shouldn't have. No one will really try to sabotage me on purpose -- but there is one thing that happens every year. We host a family christmas party (dh's family), and his cousin's girlfriend (they have 2 kids, but choose not to be married, so this is a grown woman) always tells her oldest son not to eat too much so he won't get fat, while pointedly staring at me. My dh comes from a naturally thin family -- my SIL was heartbroken when she couldn't fit into a size 2 wedding dress and had to buy a 4, and she was in her late 30s. Even when I get near a goal weight, I will still look like gargantua next to these people. I don't eat at this party (well, I try not to because I'm sure every bite I take is noted), but when we get home I usually go a little crazy. I'm going to do my best not to let them get to me this year. Other than the girlfriend, no one is deliberately mean.

Monday QOTD- what on the menu for todays meals?

I had a vitamuffin and apple for breakfast; hummus, peppers, carrots, yogurt and Veggie chips for lunch; grapes and a Babybel will be my snack; and I'll have a low points soup for dinner, with a dark chocolate peppermint Lindt ball for dessert.

With the holiday season here, I thought we all might have celebrations coming up, and maybe we could share some recipes and ideas to make them a little healthier.
Tuesday QOTD- What is your favorite healthy party food? Do you have any healthy or low cal recipes to share?

I love salsa and veggies to munch on. I don't really have healthy recipes. I only bake at Christmas, so I just make them as they are, and limit my consumption...

Wed qotd is not really a question, but thought we might share a funny holiday story or memory, or if you want to share a funny disney memory that would be great too.

You mean other than when my cousin's ditzy wife announced she loved WDW at Christmas, even though she lives in FL but has never been, and then proceeded to explain to us how things work at WDW...did you know the monorails are only for people who stay onsite, and you are not allowed to enter a resort unless you have a reservation there? :rotfl2:

Thurs QOTD- What can you commit to today for the next 2 weeks to keep on track, and finish this challenge strong?

What a timely question! I've been mulling around just accepting this is it for my weight loss this year. But why should I do that? There's no reason to stop trying. Even if I don't lose much at all, every ounce will help. I will commit to getting up and making my workouts happen. I missed today, but I will come through for the next two weeks.

It always gets hard at the end of a Challenge for most of us, I think. It's frustrating because I don't seem to make my goals, no matter how low I set them. I'll be having a very low goal for BL9, so I can meet it and keep going!

Congrats to all the losers, maintainers, and yes, the gainers who are sticking with this -- to paraphrase the FlyLady, "Weight loss done slowly and not exactly to plan still blesses you!"

Maria :upsidedow

Maria I love Flylady!! I did my antiprocrastination phone calls today.:thumbsup2

500 pounds is still attainable...we can do this!

I do have to confess that I didn't walk today, but I did exercises. I don't feel good and it is nasty windy cold out there...now I'm sitting at dd's cheer practice b/c she doesn't feel good and I want to be here if she needs to go. I did plan for tomorrow though - if the weather is nasty again I will do a watp tape. I was so focused on getting outside today I didn't think about that.

My plan to get through...I got the BL 30 day jump start book and started it yetserday (even though I didn't walk today! lol)...at the end of 30 days I'll start the couch2-5k. I have modified the diet in the BL book by switching some food arounds but am also ready to try some new things. Like jicama sticks. I went to Wal-mart to get them and they were actually sold out! Who would have thought?? Anyway - I am loosely following the plan and tracking everything I eat in sparkpeople.

Well since I forgot to post last week I have two weeks to report on. The numbers really dropped off last week because of Thanksgiving.

COW 11

THis week's COW starts on tomorrow 12/4/09 and will run until midnight Thursday 12/10/09.

SInce most people feel that 4 is the limit to keep in mind for the COW this week I will start to take some away and add new ones.

YOu get 1 point for each day you follow the COW

Eat 2 pieces of fruit or drink 1 glass of fruit juice and eat 1 piece of fruit each day
Journal your food each day (1 point for each day)
Try to add 10 minutes of stretching or yoga to your workout everyday. ( point per day for the 10 minutes)
Get a good night sleep. I am not going to put a number on it since everyone has different needs. Just try to go to bed at a reasonable time for you. With the holidays coming up we are better able to handle the stress if we get enough rest.

On Friday 12/11/09 send me

XX days of eating fruit
XX days journaling
XX days of stretching
XX days of getting a good night sleepThanks and enjoy the COW

A great, big thank you to mikamah for being our coach this week! You had some great questions! :goodvibes

:cool1: Woo! Hoo! I won the COW 2 weeks in a row! :yay:

Thanks, donac, for being our COW keeper!

When I told DH he said in a funny voice "Is that a good thing?" :rotfl2:

Maria, the Flylady quote is a great one! :thumbsup2 I'll have to go read what else she has to say about weightloss. I've gone to something called the "daily hotel clean" instead of zones -- it seems to work better for our family.

jennz, I think your plan sounds great. It is hard to plan for working out when the weather gets nasty outside. :cold:

Please remember to PM your weight to LuvBaloo tomorrow. I hope we see some good numbers this week! :cheer2:

Have a great evening all!

Heading downstairs at 8 to do the 3 mile WATP. Ended up going out to lunch with DH and DD1 for some Mexican food. Don't think it was too bad. DH then made his Mom's spaghetti and meatball recipe for supper. I had a small amount and 1 meatball (turkey and pork) and 2 biscuits! I'm still drinking my water and will continue to do it the rest of the night! Hoping my adrenaline helped with the food today. I will definitely get up and do the 3 and 2 mile workouts in the morning. Not much happening tomorrow though I do plan on checking out some new sneakers at the Rockport outlet before going to work for awhile.

Making my first batch of Chex Mix right now. Will do a lot of baking and cooking this weekend but also a lot of running around. Plan on working out both days if time allows. We also need to get our tree and put it up on Saturday. DD2 gets her H1N1 shot on Saturday morning. Sunday I will be at church for several hours for costume fittings, Sunday school, church and DD1 starts Junior Choir on Sunday. Then DD1 and I are going to the local HS to see the musical version of A Christmas Carol.

Time to stir the Chex Mix for the last time this batch!:santa:

Lisa, you have to share the "daily hotel clean"! What is it and where did you find it? I'm intrigued! And Congrats on winning the COW two weeks in a row!

I'm back on the COW wagon this week, let's do it!

Thanks!

I got the "daily hotel clean" from this article in Woman's Day. http://www.womansday.com/Articles/Shelter/Organizing-Cleaning/Countdown-to-Clean.html I do the day to day things in the morning and then tackle upstairs one day and downstairs another. It's a lot easier for me just to keep up with things but that doesn't always happen. ;)

Last chance workout anyone? Got another 2 miles to go this mornng before my weigh in! Sticking to my regular schedule!

Good luck everyone!

Good luck, I did my weigh in. I was up all night will my D2. We went from H1N1 to puke bug..strep? what ever...at least I am down.

Good morning everyone. It was so helpful for me to coach this past week. With the start of the holiday season, it's so easy to fall into old, bad habits, and so far I'm on a good path. Thanks to all of you. You are the best.

Today is my son's 8th bday, so we're going to chili's for dinner and molten chocolate lava cake, but thanks to the Cow, I'm going to journal all my food this week, and do some wii fit later. I'm off to check dwlz for points now. We're making the cake for his kids party saturday, and we're having a family brunch sunday, and will make a cake for that too. I'm planning to have cake sunday, but not saturday. Plus I'll have a fruit platter both days for picking, and will stick with that.

Lisa- I love that you're bringing pictures of the presents for your son to open. So funny. Two weeks!!! How exciting!!!

I'm down .8 from last weeks gain. It's probably a good thing that it isn't more, or I'd feel like I can do it again, eat too much, and then lose it right away. All those little splurges add up. I gotta run to target before work. Hope you all have a great day and weekend.

Poor Sammy! Give her lots of hugs from us!

I'm down 5 for the week! 161.2 this morning! Just need to behave this weekend! The holiday baking kicks into high gear this afternoon! And I've earned my drink for the week!:)

Talk to you later I'm sure!

Morning all! I am up a bit this week... less than a pound though, so no big worries. I am feeling a bit bloated and have been having some intestinal issues (sorry if that is TMI), so that could definitely be part of it.

I am subbing for the art teacher today and (GOD BLESS HER) she left a movie about Monet for the kids to watch so today will be EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZIE for me! I brought a small scrapbooking project and I will be able to work on a bit while they watch the movie! Plus I have TWO free periods today... wish I had thought to bring my sneakers!

I skipped this morning's workout (unusual for me) and will get in at least 60 minutes at the Y tonight before I run to the grocery store.

I will be at a swim meet almost all of tomorrow (I think we leave the house at 4 am and I probably won't return home until at least 7 pm or later), and then we have our State Robotics tournament on Sunday (again, all day.. leaving the house at 6 am, probably not home again until 6pm), so if I am not around here this weekend, I have a good excuse. The hard part will be fitting in my exercise both of these days!

Any suggestions for good, low cal, easy crockpot meals I could make both of these days? We had pork tenderloin last night and crockpot salsa chicken the night before.

I'll hop on later to see how everyone is doing!............P

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Please remember to PM your weigh in numbers to LuvBaloo today -- we've got that group goal that we are chasing! I was happy to be down 2 pounds this week -- wipes out last week's gain - yay!

Thanks for coaching this week! :goodvibes I hope that Michael has a wonderful birthday. Sounds like you have good plans for the celebrations. Wasn't it just last week that he was a baby? Where does the time go? :confused3

What a busy few days! Good thing you have some down time today. Too bad you just had pork tenderloin. Green chile pork is always a quick and easy favorite: one pork roast, one white onion chopped, one bottle green salsa, combine, cook for a few hours, and pull with two forks. Do you have any frozen meatballs around? Maybe some spagetti or glazed meatballs?

Crockpot for dinner sounds good -- I think I will get something for tomorrow since DH and I are both working this week-end.

Have a great day all!
