It's a sad day. My dog has been in poor health lately and took a turn for the worst over the weekend. We had to put her down this morning. (She was almost 11 years old. ):sad1:

I am so sorry!!!

On a personal note, has been a bad day dietwise, I'm PMS girl today!!

Well I've been doing pretty well lately. We've got the stove and oven working so we've both been eating a lot healthier. A lot of corn and grapes, a lot less Chilli's and Skyline. I haven't been very well behaved today diet-wise, but I guess it's to be expected :sad2:

I hope everyone had a good day!

There's my cutie Tootie and my poochie. :sad1:

I love that pic Cassie. :thumbsup2

I didn't do too bad today. I'm going to go take my measurements to see if I lost any inches. You'd think with all the excercising I'm doing.. I'd drop some lbs. :confused3

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone

It is still cold and damp here in jersey. I hope no one was in those tornados in Va. If you were I hope you are safe. I was glad to hear that as of now no one was killed but the destruction was terrible.

Princess Vija Congrats on your first day.

Tart Annihilator Sorry to hear about your dog. In 2005 my dh and dss all went away and the dog got really sick and I had to put him down by myself and then call the boys and tell them what happened. It was a difficult week because the day before I had to put the dog down my dh had collapsed at the camporee that he was attending (Heat caused) I was in the vets office crying my eyes out because of that and the dog being so sick that he had to be put down. They must have thought I was a lunatic. But they were very kind and it all worked out.

domiii WHere is Three Bridges NJ. I a jersey girl all my life and I have never heard of it. It could be right around the corner. What melting pot are you going to? What hospital do you work at? I am in West Long BRanch

Have a magical losing day everyonepixiedust: pixiedust:

Good thought. Maybe I should save my whole week's cheats for Friday. Our 21st anniversary is Friday - I'm already worried about cheats then!! We are planning dinner at the Melting Pot. I've never been. :yay:

I love the melting pot. Tomorrow is my birthday, so we are going there! Don't even try to count calories there, you just don't want to know! :lmao:

Ok so I have 27 people participating in the extra challenges. If you are not on the list, please send me your scores today. Oh and dear clippie makers (OhMom I think) I need the clippie reward still.

Well, I was one of the 4 gainers last week ... gained 4 pounds. Not entirely sure what happened there.

Anyways, just got back last night from a long weekend in Texas w/ my best friend. Lost all 4 of those pounds I gained last week. My BFF is a personal trainer with Cross Fit and has her own facility at her home, so we worked out hard (if anyone is in the Dallas area and is looking for an awesome trainer, let me know!) and she is a strong advocate of the Zone eating plan, so I ate really REALLY healthily down there too. After this weekend I think I'm definitely going to be making the change over to the Zone. It just makes sense! (and I'm too lazy to submit points for the challenges, but I tried lots of fruits and veggies this weekend that I've never eaten before!)

Can you explain the ZONE plan?

Can you explain the ZONE plan?

There is a lot of info on the web about it www.zonediet.com is REALLY comprehensive, but I kind of needed it 'dumbed down' so to speak. The basis is that you eat your meals in a 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat ratio, but you get your carbs from fruits and veggies, very little or no breads. The fruits and veggies have more fiber and are less dense so you stay full longer as opposed to the breads/grains which make you feel very full initially but then you are hungry just a couple hours later. Essentially, 1/3 of your plate is protein roughly the size and thickness of your palm. The other 2/3 of your plate is all veggies. Have fruit for dessert. If you 'slip up' and eat something that isn't as great for you, just get back on track at the next meal or snack.

There are a ton of books for the Zone, but I started with A Week in the Zone, which simplyfies things and makes it very managable. This weekend, my BFF gave me a chart which will make it even easier - I'll just choose things from the 3 categories to build my meals. I can see if I can scan it here at work and email it to you if you would like. It's a little overwhelming at first, but after this weekend with her it's making a lot more sense. You end up eating a lot of food because it takes pretty high volumes of veggies to meet the amount of carbs that you would consume in just one slice of bread, which is hard at first, but I didn't have any of the hunger or emotional "dips" that I usually have. Beyond having the balanced nutritional aspect, apparently some of the science behind the zone is understanding how different types of food groups can affect the hormone and insulin levels in your body. Sugars and starches cause insulin to spike, etc. The more I read, the more interesting it is.

PM me if you have more questions - if I don't know the answers, I'll pass them on to my BFF - she's been eating this way for the past couple years now and is pretty much an expert!

Took the BL quiz and didn't do so well. It definately was a lot harder than i thought it would be. Lots of surprising answers. My DD and I have had some kind of stomach bug this week. She hasn't been to school since last Thursday. Hopefully I'll get back to exercising tomorrow. Not too sure about trying new spices with the upset stomach. Maybe next week.

Hi all!!! :wave2:

Sorry I haven't reported in for the last couple of days.
Life has been busy!!
We got my DD's First Communion party done, and I'm happy to say, it was a success:thumbsup2 Now we are working on her report for school about dolphins - that is taking a lot of time. Work has also been keeping me busy, which is a very good good thing!!!!

This morning I speed walked my first 3 miles, and I did it in 45 minutes:woohoo: I was so proud of myself!!!! Now I"m looking forward to when I can go out and do it again!!!!:yay:

I've been doing okay food wise. Saturday, at my DD's party, I had a small slice of cake w/o the icing - I didn't think that was to bad :sad2: Sunday morning I had a HUGE stack of pancakes for breakfast, and they were so yummy!!!! I felt slightly guilty, but I got over it real fast:laughing: Those were my 2 slip ups lately, so I guess I'm not doing to bad:thumbsup2

Well, I gotta get back to work - continued good luck to all!!!:wizard:

If any one is interested Spark people is having an exercise contest. It runs for the month of may. It looks intersting and do able. It's called beach body bootcamp. I was not so good this week end so I need to get back on track.

Hey everyone - just checking in - I didn't lose last week - but I think I will definately lose this week.

I had an awesome salad for dinner tonight. Romaine lettuce, corn (cut from the cob), grilled chicken, sunflower seeds and homemade dressing (balsamic vinegar, olive oil, basil and oregano). YUMMY!! I've been eating a lot more veggies this week - lots of salads.

Good Wed Morning Everyone.

It's been pretty quiet here yesterday. NOt much going on with me. Just trying to keep on track. Pretty hard with the crazy day I had yesterday. I wrote up at least 3 kids. And 1 will be a very long story. He is not going to be happpy when every thing comes out.

Off to get some things done before the day starts.

Good morning!

It's a beautiful day here on the east coast. I have been naughty about working out this week, so I must step it up today and get walking. I seem to be unmotivated when the weather is damp, chilly and gray. Today the sun is shining and my motivation is back.

Mary

This thread has been pretty quiet lately! For me that means it has definitely been a challenging week. The weather hasn't been the greatest and I really haven't felt very motivated. So here I am, asking for some motivation!!!

I haven't tried any new foods this week. I eat almost everything, but I did try a new type of food. I tried sundried tomato tilapia with garlic pasta. It was sooo yummy! I did try turkey sausage patties, so I guess that is new! I loved it! I also tried a new french toast recipe.

I need to find a new spice to try.

Also trying to find more ways to eat healthy when I can't cook. It's so HARD! I try to find a salad or limit my portion. How do you guys do it? Lately, the only solution I have is to cook extra when I do cook, and freeze it for later use when I can't cook.

Our runner up is donac with 80 points

Second place goes to Micmac with 90 points

And in first place are....

heart4pooh and Jakenjacksmom with 100 points each! Way to go

Congrats! Great job!

I walked another 3 miles today, and it was much easier than yesterday. I'll keep us this 3 miles for another couple of weeks, and then I'll bump it up to 4 miles:thumbsup2 It feels so good to start getting fit again!!!:woohoo:

Keep up the good work everybody, and have a good day!!
