Weight watchers.com is good if you are an online member. Then even have a calculator where you put in the items in the dish and it adds them up and spits out a points value of your meal.

calorie-count.com (not really recipes, per say, but I use it almost every day to check calories of things) One nectarine has 70 calories:scared: gotta go easy on those:rolleyes:

I use allrecipies as well

gourmetsleuth.com is also good since they put nutrition info at the bottom of recipes, but most of their stuff is high in fat and calories so it is special occasion stuff.
There is a section of low fat http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/ListWebSites.asp?RunReport=Run+Report&SelStart1=LOFAT.
The other annoying thing is that you have to scroll past the shopping part and there are not a lot of recipes, but the few I have tried are good (creme brulee at 200 calories cant be beat!)

Okay - I haven't done much on the challenge but I thought I would at least list my favorite websites.

www.weightwatchers.com (If you're a member) I really love their website - but I'm doing meetings so I get the etools free.

www.dwlz.com Again - this is a good one if you are following weightwatchers.

and www.sparkpeople.com - I quit using this one now that I have weight watchers, but it is a WONDERFUL site.

I also get newsletters from Jillian Michaels that I LOVE - I didn't sign up for her program but even the little bit of wisdom she provides free in her newsletter is very motivational. I used to just LOVE Bob and I'm surprising myself by finding myself liking Jillian more now.

Then I also get the Biggest Loser newsletters - not as good for information but the motivation is there.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!!
Amanda

i just went back to look at the challenge and noticed my error
The challenge begins on Wednesday Feb. 6 at 12:01 a.m. and ends on Tuesday Feb. 11th at midnight. Your final score must be reported in by Wednesday Feb. 12th at noon (EST) in order to be included in the team score.

i meant it ends on Tuesday February 12th, and report in points by Wednesday February 13th. go by the days of the week, not the numbers. sorry!!

Okay guys!!! I know I don't post a lot to our weekly thread - just here and there. But I am seriously getting the feeling that our entire group needs some serious encouragement. Here we are - the eve of our 6th weigh in - and the last week has been dead as far as activity. So I'm guessing I'm not the only one frustrated that the losses are slowing down.....I'm not the only one who temptation is trying to grab and suck in....I'm not the only one not getting my workouts in like I'm supposed to.....I'm not the only one who is going to squeak by with barely 15 points for this week's challenge and WOOHHOOO - this is the first one I've gotten any points. Come on guys....we can all do this.

This past Saturday I had what could be considered as a "bad" moment in my diet in the past - but I don't see it that way at all. We went to lunch at Red Lobster - my DD LOVES seafood. Okay so first off - it's lunch portions which helps. I ordered the choose your own 2 and got fried shrimp and shrimp scampi with mashed potatoes and coleslaw to share with DD. DH got the choose your own 2 with clams and fried shrimp and brocolli and salad. And then he "added" snow crab to his for DD. I ate a little over half of the coleslaw and left the rest in the bowl (DD doesn't like it) - I ate 4 fried shrimp and 4 shrimp scampi (DD ate 8 shrimp - 4 fried and 4 scampi) and I ate maybe a little over half the mashed potatoes - DD isn't a big potato person so she ate maybe two bites. Then DD ate 1/2 pound of snow crab (She's 4 - can you tell she is going through a major growth spurt right now?) And I ate 1 1/2 cheesy biscuits. Then we ordered the chocolate wave cake to share three ways - with DD eating her share :rotfl:

The reason for this LONG, BORING story is this - in the past 1.) I can't stand to "waste" food and would have ate it because it was there even if I wasn't hungry 2.) In the past I would have chalked it up to a bad day and then pigged out the rest of the day too and 3.) It was a financial win for us too - we ordered water (If you didn't see my caffeine drama I gave up caffeine) and by sharing our bill was less than it usually is even WITH the $7 crab legs. And last but not least 4.) I got home and calculated up my points for that meal erring on the high side and for the week I still didn't go over my points.

This is LIFE - it's not a race it's a journey. I know how badly I want it to come off and how frustrated I am that I'm not losing like the Biggest Loser folks are but then again I don't have 6 hours a day to devote to working out in a setting that the entire focus is on FOOD and EXERCISE. I am serious about winning this time - but so much of what will allow me to do that is to change my mindset. Slow and steady wins the race.

If you are bored by this post - I TOTALLY understand....I just happened to notice that it seems like we have lost quite a few of our members lately and I know last week we had a lot of gains and maintains....but we cannot give up. We have to continue lifting each other up and TOGETHER we will win.

Hi everyone,

I am here, reading and lurking and trying to post. I had a day off today as I worked the weekend, but still got called in four 2 hours this afternoon due to a computer problem. Oh well. ;)

I was ready NOT to exercise and told myself that I need to exercise even if it was for 1/2 an hour, just do it (isn't that an old nike slogan?) I am trying for my cardio a beginning running program on the treadmill, c25k, (couch potato to 5 k in a period of 2 months). I hope it works,

Tomorow morning is weight in and I hope I have aloss to report. If no loss, then a maintain and if not a maintain and a gain, I am determined to work harder and make better choices. I like the one post that was up a few days ago, if you lose a pound a week by ...............and then there was a list of all the holidays for the rest of the year. Slow and persistent weight loss is the best as we continue with the lifestyle and healthy habits that we are all developing!

As far as the weather, it is very cold here, the actual temperature this morning was below zero with the windchill of 20 below. Our kids did have school. The forecast is still very cold for tomorrow and during the day tomorrow a snowfall of 2 to 4 inches. I see more shoveling on the way.

Take care and best wishes for everyone tomorrow on the weigh in.

I'm just quiet due to tax season workload. Sticking to my calorie range, getting at least reasonably close to 10k steps even if I don't do any formal exercise, weight keeps coming off. Should have a scale loss for this week; I'm down about 1.5 by trend.
