Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

I’m sure I’ve left out a lot, but my brain is fried. I am so terrified something is going to get lost in the shuffle. I am hoping to keep everyone safe, sane and happy for the next 7 ½ weeks.

Cam, I just want to come to your house and help you!! It sounds like you are doing the ultimate balancing act AND remaining sane :goodvibes I am sending you lots of pixiedust: ...hang in there!!

Hello everyone,

Sorry I have not been on here in a while. Crazy week with book fair at one school and preparing for book fair at another school. I am also having a hard time with snacking in the afternoon. This has been since we got back from our cruise. I really need to get back on target.

On a good note, I was looking through some pictures on my phone and found one that was taken last August, a few weeks before I started WW. It shocked me.
It makes me feel good to see the results - and hopefully get back on target to keep going.
Kristi!! You look wonderful! Congrats on all of your hard work!

I journaled again today! I can't thank all of you enough for the support and encouragement! :) Journaling is definitely working. I was down at WW when I weighed-in today. I had planned to make Wednesdays my weigh-in day, but tomorrow is getting busier and busier and I didn't want to miss going. I am still up for the BL challenge and even up since I rejoined WW, but this loss is really motivating me. :cloud9: I used 4 weeklies today, bringing me to 39 left for the week. I do not plan to eat them all. I may eat 3-4 depending on what tomorrow brings. I think dinner will be Subway.
CC, you are an inspiration! I've been a little slack in my journal...I am back on board!

QOTD for Wednesday, April 13:
I know this one has kind of been done before, but here is your big chance. You are on stage. You have everyone's attention for about 30 seconds. LOL!!! Tell us a joke or something inspirational. Seize the opportunity to plant a smile in someone's head or a positve thought that they can go back to when they are feeling a little low. For those of you with little ones, it can be something funny they've said or a joke they've told (even if it is corny).

Ok, this is a little haha from the book of little kid humor. My nephew Brady is such a good helper. He helps clean up and fix things and if he can help you look for something, he will. At his pre-K they have 4 pottys in the big bathroom for the kids - both girls and boys use the bathroom together at the same time. Well, Brady was using the potty along with Abby. Ms. Kate walked in to check on them and Brady was searching the room and looking behind and under things. When Ms. Kate asked him what he was doing he said (dead serious), "Ms. Kate, Abby lost her winkie and I need to help her look for it! If she doesn't have a winkie she can't go potty and I know she needs to go." That's my little man - always so helpful. Later in the day they were playing some kind of game where you needed a partner. Brady did not want to be partnered with Abby because, "She lost her winkie this morning and she need to be more respondable (responsible)." Apparently Brady lost something and my sister had to explain "what it means to be responsible". At least he picked up on a valuable lesson....

I just had to laugh....

Good morning!! I think I need a do-over day today. Aside from the crappity weather I think I would have left my head at home if it wasn't attached!

Today is Brian's first day back to work since his brother passed away. He was hemming and hawing the entire morning that he got up too late and wanted to be at work before his co-workers so that he could slip in without people making a big deal about his return. So, I pushed and treated him like a child (picked out clothes, poured his coffee, got his lunch out of the fridge). This better not last long than..this morning. I love him dearly but...

I made a pact with my friend Christine that we will go walking/jogging outside at least once per week and I am very excited to get going! It looks like tomorrow the rain goes away (until Saturday :sad2:) so we can begin tomorrow! She has 3 rescue greyhounds so we will have some fun company on our outings!

Well, back to the grind...meetings with students begin today as well as the reorganization of my files for the end of the school year meetings!

Make great choices today :thumbsup2

QOTD--The princesses have heard this story, so I apologize. When DS was three or four we went through Mickey's house. I don't think it was even toon town yet. Anyhow, he kept asking Mike--where is Mickey's puter? DS was really into computers. And Mike had to keep telling him Mickey didn't have a computer. Fast forward 16 years, in December we were at the pin store at DTD and DS said--Mom come here, look, I found Mickey's puter! It was a computer pin with Mickey on it. It's so silly, I don't know if he remembered cause we told him the story of if he really remembered. But I now have a computer pin on my lanyard.:goodvibes Oh my gosh, and now I'm all weepy too!:goodvibes

Rose - That is so cute! What a great story. And I am of the opinion that regardless of whether Tom has an innate memory of that moment or an implanted memory, it obviously means a lot to him. How sweet!! You definitely raised him right if he still loves Disney and can share those memories. I am so sorry for all you are dealing with and am glad if you felt like this thread wasn't one more thing on your plate even if for a moment. Just know that you are loved and missed and I am thinking of you and hoping all is well.

Cam, I just want to come to your house and help you!! It sounds like you are doing the ultimate balancing act AND remaining sane :goodvibes I am sending you lots of pixiedust: ...hang in there!!

OMG! That story is hysterical!! I LOVE this QOTD. I was worried that no one would respond or that people would think it didn't have merit, but you have all brightened my day so much by sharing your stories. :grouphug:

Nancy, I am sorry that DH had a rough morning, but you were very sweet to "baby" him through it. I hope you enjoy your walks with your friend and her furbabies. :goodvibes

Cam- Her class isn't until Aug 1 but we'll play around with the sewing machine and my mom can show her how to use it when she comes too.

Ash was in a much better mood this morning. I just caught up to where she is in Kingdom Keepers and we are going to read together when she gets home and before Izzie gets off the bus.

I need to get back to work cleaning now. I finally put special photos in our Disney frames and got them hung up. The pork in the crockpot is driving me crazy! It smells so good! I'm going to have to go and meet Ash at the bus stop as it's POURING!

Girls are going to clean their rooms after lunch before we get to do something fun and watch a movie. We want to bake some cookies today as well. Izzie has dancing at 4. Hoping I don't get called into work tonight as I'm enjoying a quiet day!

Enough procrastinating!

TTFN :tigger:

:wave2: Didn't end up making it here yesterday. I had a bad day and was wallowing in self pity so didn't feel up to it. (I'll explain in another post) But I have read back today to try to catch up from when I got back.

if not feeling better by wednesday I am going to the doctor, I have suffered my whole life from sinus issues and it's getting old
Do go and see someone. I have also suffered from allergies, sinus infections and general nasal misery all my life. I have been getting allergy shots for a little over a year and finally got my deviated septum fixed last fall. OMG, the difference is amazing! I really had no idea that septum was such a big deal. I have been avoiding the surgery for about 20 years and now I am kicking myself for not doing it. I have gone from blowing my nose every 15 minutes throughout the day to only maybe 2-3 times a day, and I am sleeping so much better.

OMG! This wind is awful!!!!! The whole house is shaking and the windows rattling! No more sleep for me which also means no working out or I will have to take a nap in the middle of the day when I have a client! Ok, there's a bad excuse. I will workout during BL tonight though.
The storms the last week or so have been terrible all over. Our neighbor had a huge tree limb fall between our 2 houses. Thank goodness it didn't hit either of the houses or the transformer. We had siding come loose that DH had to fix the other day. The wind has just been awful!

First of all......I MISSED YOU!!!! I kept meaning to send you a PM so you would have it when you got home, but I forgot.

AMAZING job with maintaining.....and when that pesky "visitor" is gone, you may even see a loss for these last few weeks!!
Thanks. I have such a scrapbooking bug going for this trip. I took TONS of photos. My sister thought I was crazy to keep having my kids pose in front of the signs everywhere we went but they are so good they just stand there and smile and let me take all the photos I want. How often do you get your picture taken in front of Boomland or at the World's Biggest Catsup Bottle? I want to get them uploaded and printed and start scrapping them while it is all fresh in my mind.
I grabbed some meat for burgers later this week. DD and I will need to go "bunless" but the men will enjoy a "real" burger!

DD is on day #3 of trying SB with me and I am really proud of her. I KNOW she is really missing her carbs.... mostly bread and fruit. But she isn't complaining. I'm trying to make it as agreeable as possible, but it is tough. Honestly.... she probably wants to lose just 5 pounds or so. But I know she'd like to lose it before Disney. Honestly.... she looks great....but I want her to FEEL good about herself and feel like she looks good.
YOU WENT TO SB while I was gone???!!!! :cool1: Let me know if you want any recipes. We really do love it, and apparently it is easier to stick with when you are eating out for every meal than even I thought! I either have my burger wrapped in lettuce or I pile on the toppings (love me some sauteed mushrooms) and eat it with a knife and fork.

Be sure to eat BEANS! The South Beach Flu may start to set in around day 5. Black beans, pinto beans, fat free refried beans, any without added sugar will really help. I actually got so sick that my dr won't let me do a strict Phase 1 with no added carbs.

I didn't mention this earlier, but right after my great weigh-in last Friday, "Aunt Flo" arrived a full week early!! I figure if I can lose 2.9 in a week with Aunt Flo on the doorstep, then this week should be really good too!! Fingers crossed!!
:cheer2::cheer2:

Okay, I promised an update and you’ll be sorry you’ve indulged me.

First of all, I am so sorry I have been so out of touch. To say that it has been a bit busy in our house is a big understatement. I don’t even know where to start.
WOW! You do have a lot going on. I know that P and I would say the same thing-- lists, lists, lists! Just reading that I wanted to start making lists for you! :rotfl: It will all work out and remember it is about the time together so take the time to enjoy these days with your family. I have been very guilty in the past of spending so much time planning that I don't enjoy the event.

On a good note, I was looking through some pictures on my phone and found one that was taken last August, a few weeks before I started WW. It shocked me.

It makes me feel good to see the results - and hopefully get back on target to keep going.
You look incredible! What a wonderful inspiration. :goodvibes

Yeah, I'm looking for a good CS at Hollywood Studios. In all the trips we've ever gone to Hollywood Studios (other then Christmas) the only place we ate at was the "Rosie's" place across from Beauty and the Beast. However, when we did Sci Fi for Christmas last year I was hooked
Unfortunately we haven't had much luck with CS at DHS. We usually do Pizza Planet because they aren't too bad and they have salads and at least one sandwich option. We usually don't do pizza much while at WDW so it is our designated Pizza meal. We ate at the ABC Commissary out of necessity last time and all agreed we would rather starve next time! But they have some unique options that other may really like-- they just weren't things we enjoy. Starring Rolls has some nice sandwiches-- you just have to resist the scrumptious bakery items while you are in there! Backlot Express used to have a roast chicken that was really good, but don't have it any more. But their menu doesn't look too bad. I think it sort of depends on what you are planning to have other times during the week.

I journaled again today! I can't thank all of you enough for the support and encouragement! :) Journaling is definitely working. I was down at WW when I weighed-in today. I had planned to make Wednesdays my weigh-in day, but tomorrow is getting busier and busier and I didn't want to miss going. I do not plan to eat them all. I may eat 3-4 depending on what tomorrow brings. I think dinner will be Subway.
:cheer2: Keep on Journaling! Congrats for getting back on track. Just making sure you go to weigh in will help keep you OP. You CAN do it!:cheer2:

Hmmmmm, need to think about this one.:scratchin Maybe I should post my photo of the World's Biggest Catsup Bottle? We sure thought it was funny!

When michael was about 3, we were at my nephew's birthday party, and a little girl walked in with beautiful, long curly blond hair, and he pointed at her and said, "when I'm a girl, I'm going to have hair like that."
:lmao::rotfl2:

Sorry for your loss. :flower3:
Hopefully after today he will back in his routine and the co-workers will all make a fuss today and be back to normal.

I think I lost some quotes in there somewhere!

I am almost unpacked. The laundry is all done and just have a few assorted items to put away. I am not sure what is harder, getting packed for a trip or getting unpacked when you get home.

The van we rented for the trip had Sirius Radio and I am now hooked on the 80's channel! We get it on our Dish Network but I have never payed any attention to it. Now I will be listening to it all the time. It was kind of funny that much of this trip was about revisiting places from my past and I ended up with the soundtrack to go with it. My sister and I did a lot of "Do you remember. . ?". My girls did a great job putting up with it and I think they enjoyed some of the stories.

I did learn that 2 Independent Control Freaks can NOT road trip together! My sister and I are both very used to being in charge and we had some issues, but we each did some compromising and we are still speaking to each other.

We watched the Extreme Couponing Show at her house and now have decided to try to do better at using coupons. Not in an extreme way but in a normal, save some money on the stuff we normally buy way. So we are having fun working on that together.

My mom did not notice my weight loss (nor did my sister) but not long after we got together she took a look at me and began the usual criticism with "Those jeans are WAY to big on you! They look terrible, like clown pants. They are baggy all over, especially in the butt. Don't you have any pants that fit better?" I nearly died laughing!:lmao: Usually she is complaining that I am too overweight and here she is complaining that my clothes are too big. So of course I had to inform her that my pants are too big because I have lost nearly 40 pounds! I don't have much that fits right now. Good thing she didn't see my underwear!:rolleyes1 I did wear better fitting jeans the next day but I wanted the loose comfy ones for the 7 hour trip in the car. She was impressed with my weight loss and even didn't throw a fit when I showed up at her house with fresh veggies to add to the meals she made, and skipped the bun and potatoes. Of course now she will be asking me everytime she calls how much I have lost and will drive me crazy with that.

So yesterday I had an appointment with an Orthopedist for my hip. Because of the foot issues/walking off balance/falls/etc.. my left hip has been a problem for about 2 years. I did see 2 doctors and did some PT (made it worse) so I have been trying to just ignore it but it is really uncomfortable, and is really disrupting my sleep. My feet are doing better, I got my sinus issues under control, the weight is coming off so this is sort of the last thing to have "fixed".

I wasn't really worried about the appointment- I figured the worst thing to happen would be a cortisone shot with a big scary needle which I HATE but it if works then I would put up with it. Yeah, that was not the worst case scenario.:headache: Instead he wants me to have a scary sounding MRI that involves taking fluid out of the joint, putting stuff in and at least an hour in the machine-- an open machine is not an option, they don't do this involved of a procedure. And if that confirms what he thinks it is then the solution is surgery. :guilty: I really, really, really, really, really don't want to have anymore surgery for a long time. I have had at least one procedure a year for the last 4 years or so and I am so done with IV's and anesthesia and recovery and pain and pain pills and all that. The last one I had was a really terrible experience with the nurses in recovery (I love nurses but these were awful ones and I am still a little traumatized). I can't decide if I want to just skip it all and put up with this for a few more years or just put on my big girl panties (in a smaller size now!;) ) and suck it up and do it. Right now I am really leaning towards skipping it. Maybe at least until I can get more of the weight off and be healthier. From the research I have done it looks like the recovery time is at least 3 months and probably more like 6 months or more. At the very least I will get a 2nd opinion (and maybe a 3rd!) before I agree to surgery at this point. I probably should at least get the MRI, but they are going to have to provide me with something to help me relax. No way I am doing it without a hefty dose of valium!

While I am checking out and trying to keep from crying right there in the office my phone rang and it was DD15 in the nurses office at school because her glasses broke. Nothing like being able to be distracted from your problems with your child's problem! I had to race home and try to find her spares, which we can not find anywhere. :sad2: I took her the prescription sunglasses which is all I could find. We searched all night last night and the spares are no where to be found. DH put her glasses back together the best he could so we are hoping they will last until we can replace them. She is blind without her glasses so we have to figure something out pretty quick.

So I am still wallowing in self pity today and need to figure out what to do. I actually wish I could talk to my mother and get her advice but that just isn't a good idea. She is not very helpful in these situations. She thinks I am a big baby that over dramatizes everything (I wish!) and that being overweight is the root of all illness and disease and injury and losing the weight will magically make everything better. Anything I tell her can and will be used against me in the future.

Darn I just lost my post with one errant keystroke! I tried to get it back following Buffy's instructions : (When you are typing and something disappears look in the tool bar at the top of the URL window, you will see a button that says edit, click that and you should get a drop down menu, click undo typing and it should bring back the typing you just deleted.)
but that didn't work for me.....I don't have an 'undo typing' selection!

So, the short version of what I can remember now:

I'm sick....felt a little blah yesterday, made it through yoga and haircut this morning but on the couch all afternoon. Feels like I am getting another cold after just having one first week of March. Before that, I had not been sick since Winter 2010 as best as I can remember.

Congrats to all the losers this week! Awesome numbers!

Cam, OH MY!!! That's a lot to do but I have faith in you. Hopefully you can enlist Howard and lots of other helpers. DON"T try to take all that on by yourself! I think my relocation back to the US this Summer looks pretty simple compared to all you have going on! I'm going to remember you when I get busy coordinating our move later on so I won't feel sorry for myself. Boy, you are really going to enjoy that cruise after such a busy Spring.

Kristi Mc Thanks for sharing your pics! AWESOME!!! SO motivating!

LTS: Welcome back !!!! Fantastic that you did not gain any weight on vacation!

Dumbo Buddy: Enjoy your trip to NC, I am so jealous. We love the Oreo flavor milkshake at cookout but I'm not a huge milkshake fan, it's something I can take or leave. My favorite there is a plain hamburger with thick slice of raw onion!!! I don't go there too often but I don't think it's toooo bad of a choice;) Now, Bojangles is a whole 'nother story! So, which college in NC did you attend?????

Kathy:  for your dental work. I feel your pain, my teeth are breaking as I get older and about once every 2 years or so I get another crown. I HATE the dentist. Cute story about Michael !!

Karen: That story about the winkie is hilarious. I've got to remember to tell DH later.

DisneyWedding: Your trip sounds fantastic!

That's about all I can remember right now. Hello to everyone else. I hope you're all having a great day and making healthy choices. Me, not so much. Sometimes when I get sick, I don't feel like eating and other times when I get sick I want to eat junk or comfort food. I'm in the second category today. I'm giving myself until tomorrow to snap out of it.

Let's see......just remembered...
Tuesday QOTD: Recent change-up in your menu:
I've started subbing quinoa in place of rice or cous-cous in dishes and it's been delicious.
Weds QOTD: Your laugh for the day:
"I don't want to brag or make anybody jealous, but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school. ..."
ba-dum-bum

I got that on FB the other day and it cracked me up:rotfl2:

Shawnprincess:

LTS:  So sorry to hear about your hip and the recommended test. I don't know enough to give you any advice but I just hope you have a good outcome and can get some pain relief, whichever route you decide to take.

My hip pain has lessened dramatically as I've lost weight but is still there if I've sat for a long time. I imagine it's nothing compared to what you are going through..

Good luck!:goodvibes

Shawnprincess:

LTS--I'm so sorry about the hip stuff. What does he think is wrong with it??? Is it something that an alternative therapy could put off when you need the surgery? Does that make sense? I am a big believer in trying non-medical, non-invasive first--but maybe it won't work in this case. In the case of the itbs/hip stuff I've been dealing with I had two choices--rest, rest and more rest and hope 3-6 months from now that it would be better, or the non-traditional route of dealing with the scar tissue and other stuff that built up and strengthening the other muscles in my hip/glutes.

It has been EXTREMELY painful, but worth it. (My leg is covered in bruises for the fourth week in a row.) Ice and the foam roller are my best friends--we've been spending waaaay too much time together.;) I have developed some hip stuff too from favoring my leg and the rehab exercises, but as I get stronger and do more of the rehab exercises it is getting better. Anyhow, this might all be pointless, but I know that I am TERRIFIED of surgery, too. (My one and only surgery was emergency surgery after DS was born and I woke up with an iv and a blood drip in my arm from almost bleeding out--I definitely have issues. ;) ) If you are interested in the names of the treatments send me a pm. Hang in there.:goodvibes And just remember--losing more weight really is a very good thing for your body right now.

****
And kind of on the same subject, I posted this on the BL Princess thread, but just wanted to let you all know as well. Please as you start serious exercise programs AND especially as you continue to lose weight, get your shoes checked to make sure you are in the right shoe for you. I have learned the hard way that things do change as you lose weight. And the wrong shoe can cause all kinds of problem. It is definitely more time consuming and expensive to get your shoes fitted and checked but well worth it. In my case I was going to a reputable shoe store, it just never occurred to anyone to make sure I still needed to shoes for pronation--it's not a normal occurence. So I got a new pair of staility shoes in February--and they just pushed things over the edge. I will now get my shoes checked a minimum of twice a year, and definitley will not be making any assumptions. Some injuries are definitely avoidable.:goodvibes

He thinks it is a torn labrum (?) . I am not sure I can do much more resting than I have the last 2 years! :lmao: I guess since it hasn't gotten any better and occasionally locks up he thinks that there is stuff that needs to be "cleaned out". But taking Advil really helps it so I think that it is more inflammation causing problems so I would really like to at least go the cortisone shot route first (can't believe I am saying that!). I was also thinking about going to a chiropractor and see what they suggest. Since it is the joint I wonder if some manipulation to get everything where it belongs might be a good thing right now. But of course I don't want to make anything worse.

I am open to any suggestions that don't involve surgery.

Afternoon Mickeys and Donalds!

Today's plan:

Need to make my "last week before Disney to do list" (i.e. call Pet Hotel to board dog, call car service to arrange airport pickup, etc etc).

I made a comment on FB about doing all of this and my best friend's response was, 'Your not leaving til May, Kristina, why the rush?" No rush its just one of those things if I don't do it now I'll forget, :lmao:.

Need to get some laundry done

Cleaning my kitchen (Sunday, I get the chore of completely clearing out my kitchen from top to bottom. Cabinet/counter people will be here first thing Monday morning to put everything in).

Slowly start picking and organzing this house

I say slowly because now with Alan at the shop 9 hours a day I'm the one doing all the housework (I'm not complaining, just stating fact), however it takes me a lot longer then him. Darn leg only let's me do things in 20 - 30 minute spurts before I have to sit down and relax. So yeah, getting this house in order before we leave is going to take some time. I'm the first to admit ever since Josh and Maddie died I'm not the best housekeeper. I'm hoping I can get a good chunk of it done.

That is a great plan! I don't have a dog and I don't want a dog.... but sometimes I wish I had a reason to HAVE to get out and walk.... like today!!

Cam- Her class isn't until Aug 1 but we'll play around with the sewing machine and my mom can show her how to use it when she comes too.

TTFN :tigger:

You are such a great Mom! You are always doing stuff with the kids! Don't know how you resist all of that baking though! I had originally put "make banana muffins" on my to do list for this week in an effort to clean out the freezer (lots of frozen bananas).... and coincidentally I needed to sign up to bring a goody to Bible Study brunch in a few weeks.... so I figured I'd make the muffins and put them in the freezer for now. But I'm so afraid of the temptation of the muffins! Especially since I cannot eat ANY right now, with the SB plan.

Well.... anyhow, I forgot to take the bananas out this morning to defrost, so I won't be making them today anyhow.... but again, I don't know how you can resist! And enjoy your movie time.

:wave2: Didn't end up making it here yesterday. I had a bad day and was wallowing in self pity so didn't feel up to it. (I'll explain in another post) But I have read back today to try to catch up from when I got back.

DH was never diagnosed with a deviated septum, but he always claimed that he NEVER breathed out of both nostrils... and he snored terribly and got congested easily. But lo and behold, since he broke his face/nose during his accident last fall, he says he is finally able to breath from both nostrils for the first time in his life! And his snoring has improved drastically (that is also, I believe, because of the dramatic weight loss). Sorry you had to wait so long for the relief, but glad it was worth it!

I LOVE taking pictures of quirky stuff like that too!! Share some here!!

Just "visiting" the SB for a few weeks to see if I can shake off the last stubborn pounds.... and so far it is working! But honestly..... I am barely finding it tolerable. I give you MOUNTAINS of credit for sticking with it so long.

I have not been hit by any "SB flu" symptoms and I'm on day 12, so I guess I missed it.

I have not had ANY beans (except for a bit of soy hummus) because I was under the impression that I should not have them on Phase 1. But I really miss them!

I must say, even though I pretty much read the SB Diet book cover to cover and read the "Good Fats, Good Carbs" SB book from cover to cover, I still had many, many items I was unsure about. I had two Boca veggie burgers last week, but when I mentioned it on the SBD thread, I was told they were a no-no during Phase 1. I also had some raw carrots, but did go back and re-read and discover that was another no-no. The only non-veggie carbs I have willing added is the occasional cup of my morning hot beverage (drinking it for an evening treat) that is about 2 gr carbs per serving. I figure that won't do much damage.

Depending on what the scale says this Friday and how I am feeling, I may do one more week of Phase 1, especially since DD wants to do two weeks of Phase 1, which will bring her to Easter weekend. I'd like to stick to Phase 1 with her to help support her efforts. She is talking about sticking with Phase 1 until we leave for Disney, but if we take Easter weeekend "off", I'm thinking she won't get back OP after that. Playing it by ear for now.

I am almost unpacked. The laundry is all done and just have a few assorted items to put away. I am not sure what is harder, getting packed for a trip or getting unpacked when you get home.

Definitely the unpacking! No "pre-trip" excitement left!

That sounds like so much fun! I enjoy the 80's channel on my Dish Network, but I usually only listen when home alone doing housework.

I did learn that 2 Independent Control Freaks can NOT road trip together! My sister and I are both very used to being in charge and we had some issues, but we each did some compromising and we are still speaking to each other.

Very mature of you!!

Sorry that you just can't seem to win. I'm sure your Mom is proud of you, no matter what she says.

Sorry about all of this with the hip. It just keeps coming, doesn't it???

Definitely get a second (and third) opinion. And don't be afraid of researching alternative therapies. I've never been to a chiropractor and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about them.... but I think it would be a step I would definitely consider before I would agree to surgery. How about acupuncture? My Mom had some luck with this with some chronic neck pain and DH has tried it for his MG. Mom had some modest improvement. DH didn't really have any measureable improvement, but with his disease, sometimes it is hard to tell, since certain things will make him feel better and worse anyhow (like lack of sleep, etc).

Keep us informed and I will definitely add your medical issues to my prayer list.

I'm so glad you are having improvements Rose! And AMEN to the bolded part! LTS, you never know what a few more pounds might do!!!

Rose.... thanks for the much needed PSA!! Fortunately for me, I knew that the ankle pain was shoe-induced. But I have to wonder how many people are walking around out there with pain that they are taking meds for, etc, who might be helped with just the right pair of shoes??!!!

Suggestions.... chiropractics (at least a consult), acupuncture, deep tissue massage, hot tub (I think your insurance should buy you one!), and prayer.

I thought I was the only one nutty enough to make lists that far in advance! We should share lists! And I even save my lists! That way if I feel like I am forgetting something important, I can look at a previous list and see what's there!

**********

Afternoon friends! I had started a post earlier today with some responses to replies from yesterday and the day before, but I had to log out quickly at school today and it appears to be gone. If I have time tonight, I might try to go back and repost.

Worked today, but it was an early release day, so not too bad (although my class was TERRIBLE!).

Got in 30 minutes of my planned 45 minutes of exercise early this morning. No Y tonight (:woohoo:), so whatever I do for the last 15 minutes will be at home tonight.

I did NOT get in two workouts yesterday, but the one workout I did at the Y was a pretty decent one. 60 minutes on the TC (really hoofing it) and 25 minute on the TM. The TM time was just a brisk walk.... I was trying to get my pedometer callibrated (put in new batteries). It just isn't working right or consistently, so I may have to skip it at Disney (although I recently bought DD one... could borrow that I suppose).

I promised myself I could spend at least one hour at my scrapping table today.... but if I don't get moving I won't get to it. Exercise time must come first and despite folding laundry for almost 2 hours last night, I still have one load waiting and another to go in the dryer..... does it never end??:laundy: No "play" time until that is done too. Other than that I will try to ignore the dirt and dust and grime around here!!

Suitcases come out tomorrow for Disney!!

DD seems to be having a crisis of sort.... guess I'll go see what's up. TTYL.....................P

Pjlla, I posted a few things to you on the South Beach thread.

OMG--anybody watching Oprah??? I never watch anymore, but Stevie Nicks is on. I adore her! I wanted to name my daughter (that I didn't have) Rhiannon. She just sang Landslide with Cheryl Crow and I was sobbing! Just what I needed today.:goodvibes

pjlla - No your not nutty. I'm constantly making lists whether its a daily to do list or school related or vacation related. It helps to get everything down on paper and then if a few days go by and i remember something I can just add it to the list.

MY WEEK BEFORE LEAVING FOR DISNEY LIST:

Call Pet Hotel and make boarding arrangements for Lizzy
Call car service and reserve car for transportation to/from airport
Call Randy's Mobility in Orlando and reserve wheelchair for trip
Check ADRs and print off ADR reservation information (I type this up all pretty in Word)
Pack
Last minute cleaning of kitchen (couple days before we leave; I hate coming back to a dirty kitchen)
Take trash out (day before we leave)

Call car service and reserve car for transportation to/from airport
Call Randy's Mobility in Orlando and reserve wheelchair for trip

Really not being nosy, is there a reason that you use a wheelchair instead of an ECV? (you don't have to answer if you don't want to :))

QOTD--- my daughter, Amanda when she was about 3 or 4 years old while talking to my dear friend and her godmother:

Amanda: My mommy is magic
Godmother: is she now?
Amanda: yes, she is
Godmother: why, can she turn horses into unicorns?
Amanda: no but she can turn bread into toast!

made a appointment for a ENT who comes recommended in the area for 10days from now, trying to get my physical "house" in order...diet, orthotics, a minor eye surgery to correct a issue since childhood and now maybe no more sinus suffering! feels good to take care of myself after all these years of ignoring myself and worrying about others first

I told my hubby last night, i know i am a tough cookie, i have handled a lot but physically and emotionally BUT there is no award for being tough all the time and there is no honor or award for suffering needlessly!!

everyone have a great day...still exhausted from the sinuses. can't sleep more than a hour at a time, have to keep rolling over to let one side of my head drain...so no gym.. hubby and i are going to a move tonight though
if i stay still and keep up on the cold & sinus meeds i can manage the post nasal cough
hubby is a corrections office who works a rotating night shift, i go to school and nanny 2-3 16hour day rotating shifts so we rarely have a day alone not going to waste it by sleeping...
the teen is babysitting so it will just be the 2 of us!

It is rainy and dreary here and I thought we could all use a smile. I hope you are all okay with a non-weight loss related QOTD. :)

Ah, I love Stevie Nicks! Bummer that I missed it. If I would have know it was on I would have DVR'd it.

There hasn't been a whole lot going on over here this week, so I haven't posted much. I've been keeping up with my exercise and doing good with my eating. Still no weight loss on the scale, but I'm not worried. My work clothes are getting bigger and bigger, but for some reason my weekend clothes (mostly tshirts) never fit bigger....it's very odd, but I suppose different fabrics lay differently on everyone's body :confused3 :rolleyes1 Plus, I can see and feel the beginnings of a shape in my waist :woohoo:

My hip lately has been driving me crazy. I've got the same pain in my hips when I lay down as I did when I was pregnant with DS :headache: So after searching on the internet and talking to my sister (who is an athletic trainer) we discovered I've probably strained my IT band (?). She gave me some stretches to do, one of which I've already done here at work, though I looked like a nutball , and it's already feeling much better. I put on my facebook page this afternoon that I really picked the best time in my life to start marathon training...when I've got a sister in college majoring in athletic training :rotfl: She's saving me a fortune on what I'd probably have to go to a sports therapist or chiropractor for :rotfl2: :worship: Whew, this getting older and exercising sucks  She did happen to mention that most of her track athletes have a problem with their IT band and that it's a very difficult muscle to reach during normal stretching, so thankfully it's not a big deal.

Not much going on tonight, having turkey hot dogs again, my Wednesday easy go-to dinner. We may watch The Incredibles that I bought for DS yesterday. DH mentioned last night that we don't have family movie night anymore (it's only been about 2 weeks since our last movie night :)). And here I thought it wasn't something that he enjoyed too much because we were usually watching Disney movies..so surprise, surprise

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Nicole :upsidedow

Never ended up baking today as the kids took too long cleaning their rooms this afternoon. Then Izzie had dancing. I had to run to the grocery store while she was there as I was almost out of milk and we had no butter in the house except for Country Crock.

The pork was yummy and I made some French fries with it.

No exercise today except for cleaning for about 5 hours. I did the kitchen, finally finished the living room and got the dining room done. I do have to work on my desk a little more so Ash can use it to do her homework. This weekend we will start on the laundry room, storage room and garage. I'm trying to get a jump on the laundry tonight.

We played the Magic Kingdom game before the kids went to bed. I finished last!

Working tomorrow though I don't have any clients scheduled that I know of. I need to leave work by 2 so I can get to Joann's and another grocery store before the kids get home at 3:30. There is an event at Ash's school tomorrow night that we try to attend every year but it depends on if I get called into work tomorrow night or not. Brian is on call so it's hard for him to go. They are in desperate need of volunteers so I hope I can go over with Ashleigh for awhile. Ash needs some clay for a project on Friday.

On Friday we need to go pick up Harry Potter and Izzie and I need to get our Easter dresses. If I can't find one I will have to go to Kohl's on Saturday to get one. Ash also needs some jeans and we all need Easter shoes. I may have a client at 1 but won't know until tomorrow afternoon.

TTFN :tigger:

I need to get back to work cleaning now. I finally put special photos in our Disney frames and got them hung up. The pork in the crockpot is driving me crazy! It smells so good! I'm going to have to go and meet Ash at the bus stop as it's POURING!
Your dinner sounds fabulous. Can you please come to my house and do something with the PILES of photo albums and pictures lying around? We still haven't gone through the CDs of over 3600 images from our vow renewal from our professional photographer. Pathetic, I know. So, just WHERE do you find the energy to accomplish so much in a day and still have energy to be a Mom?

I am almost unpacked. The laundry is all done and just have a few assorted items to put away. I am not sure what is harder, getting packed for a trip or getting unpacked when you get home.

Wow! I am impressed you've accomplished so much already. :worship: I'm sorry your Mom just doesn't know what to say to you. You are certainly entitled to her praise after what you have accomplished. I am sorry about your hip. I am another hip pain sufferer. I hurt mine during a race in May 2006 and it has never been the same. I hope you can figure out a non-surgical resolution.

I'm sick....felt a little blah yesterday, made it through yoga and haircut this morning but on the couch all afternoon. Feels like I am getting another cold after just having one first week of March. Before that, I had not been sick since Winter 2010 as best as I can remember.

I hope you are feeling better by now, Shawn! :goodvibes

Thank you for your faith in me. We can commiserate on the rising stress levels over the next couple of months. I did take everyone's advice and allowed Howard to cancel three hotel reservations for South Carolina (drumline audition/tour weekend, move-in weekend, and parent weekend) AND I found a caterer for the graduation party.

Weds QOTD: Your laugh for the day:
"I don't want to brag or make anybody jealous, but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school. ..."
ba-dum-bum

Okay, that is FUNNY!! :rotfl: I might just put it on my FB wall.

Kristina - Your week-before-Disney list is very organized. I am completely convinced a really good to-do or to-pack list can overcome all my procrastinator tendencies. LOL!

Pamela - I hope DD's drama wasn't anything too bad. Boy, do I remember those days. Jenn's nickname was "Little Miss Melodrama". Thank God she has grown out of it. I hope you had a great evening. I hope you found some time at your scrapping table! :goodvibes

OMG--anybody watching Oprah??? I never watch anymore, but Stevie Nicks is on. I adore her! I wanted to name my daughter (that I didn't have) Rhiannon. She just sang Landslide with Cheryl Crow and I was sobbing! Just what I needed today.:goodvibes

That song always gets me choked up. I am glad you happened to be watching. And I really hope Tom's concerns aren't weighing too heavily on you tonight. The mom thing never gets easier, does it? I am now worried about Jenn's job search for after graduation and I am worried that the fabulous guy she is dating might break her heart someday. I know, why borrow trouble, but I love seeing her happy and don't want anyone to take that away from my little girl.

Awwww... the "magic mommy" story is so sweet! What a sweet little princess:

Good luck with the ENT. I had sinus surgery and a correction to a deviated septum in 1996. I went from having 5 or 6 sinus infections per year to none. And I was always in severe sinus pain. Now it is rare. I am so glad I did it. It had gotten to where I was using prescription pain killers to deal with the sinus headaches. It was awful. ...... I hope you enjoyed your adult time. Did you see a good movie?

SQUIRREL! :squirrel:

Cute, kiddo! Very cute!

Great job, Nicole!! You must be so excited to see all those changes to your body and to start noticing your clothes fitting differently. Keep up the great work! Oh, another one suffering hip pain? You poor thing.

I just thought of something. My PT told me that my IT Band is very, very tight. He told me to lie flat with a stretchie band or beach towel wrapped around my foot, to slowly raise the leg to as close to 90 degrees as I can get it without pulling on it and then use the band/towel to guide my leg across the other leg, to stretch it. You can also do it going out from your other leg, if that makes sense, but you have to be careful not to pull your groin muscles. I'll bet there are excercises on sparkpeople that would help.

Okay, I am wiped out and heading to bed. I have a bunch of stuff on my calendar tomorrow including a hearing, so I'll post the QOTD tonight.

QOTD for Thursday, April 14:
