Big tour groups

I'm at POP as well and we had to call the front desk the other night as the girls were sitting all around the pool at 12:30 in the morning laughing and hollering at each other. When they get back to the resort they start chanting and hollering all the way back to their rooms. There are several baseball teams here as well but they have been quiet compared to the girls.

The other day at MK, we saw 12 different groups of girls with different shirts and backpacks. If you wanted to go on a dark ride, you would have been better off with the lights on due to all the flash photography going on. :(

The annual "BTG Thread" is a little late this year.:)

It is July at WDW-it will be like this as long as there is a July and as long as there is a WDW.

July will be even more "interesting" when the Brazil Pavilion opens!lol:)

Early August-The 15s head back to school then.

And they will be back in January and February ....

And this will be the new pavilion, and am sure the chanting will be .... this ......

Leaving the Magic Kingdom after 4th of July fireworks is tough. Leaving with a tour group sitting in the way is tougher... pics: @easywdw

Because it sounds like something you just thought up yourself instead of a fact.

Do you see any parents with them on these tours?

I've actually been trying to find the itinerary but I can't find the link anymore. I think it was on the other forum.

Based on how they behave while they're here... would you blame the parents for getting rid of them for a few weeks?

Apparently you don't understand what LOL means.... look it up... it'll shed a whole new light on the comment you quoted me on...

Sitting on main Street while people are leaving. Everyone should've just started walking through them

"Oh sorry, I stepped on your hand? Shouldn't be sitting there"

I'm not sure why CM's wouldn't tell them to move though from that spot

Saying a nasty comment as a "joke" doesn't make it any less nasty. I haven't witnessed or heard about any behavior from them that any other groups of unsupervised teens wouldn't also be prone to.

It floors me that Disney is still allowing this behavior.
Disney is always going to allow the chanting-they have "tried" to "limit" it-I have seen the Green Shirts shut it down several times this week.

If you think this July is bad-DO NOT go next July-the World Cup will be happening!

If Brazil or Argentina were to win the Cup or the "Nuclear Scenario" happens and Brazil and Argentina are in the Finals-Walt Disney World will EXPLODE!!!!:)

I was there tonight and CM's basically from my vantage point are no where to be seen or doing very little about any crowd control.

Maybe they could open a new "Disney's All Tour Group Resort" especially made to house large parties of teenagers and their chaperones.

In seriousness though, I can see how this would be annoying. I must have been lucky that I haven't encountered a lot of rowdy groups and they don't tend to go to Disneyland in California.

I would tend to believe that the abundance of places to visit in Central Florida is a bigger draw. As I said in prior posts, there used to be a link to the actual itinerary for these groups and they went all over Central FL. Not just to Disney World. I mean, I get that Disneyland has it's share of tourist stuff, but there's just something about WDW.

Well, getting more money would be a reason for Disney to put them in a deluxe. Just like they'd rather I paid $300 for a deluxe rather than $100 for a value...I have no doubt that it's pricey to travel from Argentina or Brazil to Disney, but that doesn't mean these kids are rich. The ones who are rich likely don't travel in mass groups to stay at values. Instead, they'd likely go in small groups with friends and stay at luxury resorts.

It's not about what the groups will pay. It's about what the other guests will pay. A lot of higher end hotels will flat out not take tour groups of teens, unless the organizer can promise one chaperone per room (yeah, right). It is a problem for booking school trips, whether sports or otherwise. Disney, like those other hotels, would not want potential damage or the amount of complaints they'd get from massive tour groups in say the Grand Floridian.

Fair or not, people who stay in GF have more sway than people who stay at all star sports. Their expectations in terms of customer service are different.

It's a coming of age tour. Teens don't typically want their parents on tour trips anyway- it's all about independence and hanging out with their friends. And my parents didn't go on any school tours with us, and it had nothing to do with how they felt about us. Everything to do with their lack of vacation time.

I don't think they're any worse behaved than most other large tour groups of teens. Sure, they cut. Teens cut. Entire families cut, for that matter. Sure they chant. I've seen school groups at the local theme park sing their fight songs. Sure, they make noise in the pool. That is the number one reason I don't enjoy family friendly budget hotels during high season. Not just at wdw. ANYWHERE. The flash photography complaint up above cracks me up because I see everyone- even little old ladies- doing that on dark rides.

They're annoying because they're a tour group. They aren't exceptionally annoying. Tours groups are just annoying. Even adult tour groups are annoying. I usually can travel only during high season and I spend a lot of time ducking tour groups. It's not nationality or age. It's the fact it's a tour group.

Pretty sure they're sitting because the crowd is not moving. WDW after the fireworks is like standing in the airplane aisle before the doors have even opened. You aren't moving and you know it, but people are raring to go.

Everyone's got their panties in a wad over a joke that another poster couldn't take. Jeez...

I did a tour in high school in Europe. I get it, understand it. We were a very well behaved tour, all things said.

These particular South American tour groups though have earned their stripes. Visitors from the UK aren't like them. Again, it's also not just concentrated to WDW.

Yes, everyone pays a lot to get to Disney, regardless where they come from. If you don't want to deal with them, I gave some tips on the first page of how to avoid them.

I dunno, that's down by Casey's and you can see they cover about 2/3's of the road... I get that traffic ain't goin' anywhere, but that doesn't look like it was helping to alleviate any bottlenecks, lol.

Sorry they have negatively impacted your trip.

I have two trips this month; a short one (3 days at CSR) and our big trip (9 days at Pop with two rooms). Just this evening I was thinking that I hadn't heard much about the tour groups. Then I check out the boards and here it is. I'm not as concerned about the short trip as I am about Pop. There are six of us so we have two rooms. I think when I call to request connecting rooms I'm also going to ask to keep us far away from any tour groups. I know there are no guarantees with either request, but I'll give it a try.

I've had my issues with these tour groups in the past, mostly being kept awake at night. In our experience, calling the front desk never got us anywhere. However, when DH showed up in person in the middle of the night at the front desk, the manager returned with him to our room and put an end to the soccer game that was going on outside our door. That manager was fabulous. Fingers crossed our tour group encounters are uneventful.

Yes, you should always walk to the front desk if you have a concern. The resort phone front desk button just routes you to an offsite call center, which is less effective, in my experience. But going to the front desk gets results.

I know this would be an extreme case, but wouldn't the constant chanting be in violation of some sort of local or state ordinance regarding noise?

If hotel management won't take care of it, law enforcement might.
