Hold on folks for the wildest rumour in the wilderness! popcorn::

I just recently bought the Unofficial Guide To Disney World and found a plethora of rumours, most of which were from Jim Hill. While he may not be the most trustworthy person out there he does have some interesting ideas. Here is the exact quote from the book itself.

"As soon as the Imagineers complete their year long redo of Space Mountain look for the 'Wildest Ride in the Wilderness' to get some lengthy and much needed repairs. The upside: once Big Thunder comes back into service in late 2010 or early 2011, visitors can expect to find some Lone Ranger-themed elements added to this nearly 30-year-old attraction, which Walt Disney Pictures hopes will help promote its soon-to-be-released Lone Ranger movie."
Aside from counting economy as a factor, which does affect the project, is this possible or at least planned? pirate:

Lord, I hope this one is not true.

I don't think it's likely. AFAIK, Disney hasn't changed a ride to promote a 'soon to be released' movie. They've only changed them after a movie has been a hit.

Didn't he say in last year's edition that It's a Small World was going to be converted into an intense "roller coaster 'round the world" in 2012?

I moved this to the rumor board a better fit there. Thanks Rich

Disney rarely adds elements to a ride to promote a movie.

If the movie is a huge success, then and only then do they spend the money to change a rides elements.....

Look how long it took to add the elements to the POTC!

Hi Ho Silver! That is a wild rumor!

If the movie is a huge success, then and only then do they spend the money to change a rides elements.....

And even then, only long after the heat from the movie died down.

I don't think the movie is even on the schedule until 2012...

I cannot believe that Disney is actually making a LR movie to begin with. That one that was made years ago with Clinton Spilsbury was the biggest bomb ever. What does Disney think they can do with it? Look how they screwed up Pearl Harbor a while back.

Heard in the board room, "Johnny Depp worked well in the POTC attraction, where else can we put him? OK the Lone Ranger movie is a definite for BTMRR. How can we sneak him into the Jungle Cruise....or HM.....or IASM?"

the one thing I would love them to do if they ever take thunder down for a long rehab is to actually put in the last drop (the cave with all the rocks falling) that they cut during the original construction due to lack of money and time.. if you notice its very anti-climatic it was suppose to be the biggest drop on the ride and maybe update the first cave with some new animatronics (the bats and such)

If Disney does this it's going to make a lot of people [including myself] very angry. I'm glad that Disney waited to change the POTC rides until after the movies became wildly, wildly popular. If the same thing happens with this "Lone Ranger" movie, [which I haven't even heard of yet] then I'm all for it.

Maybe that may be true because I just read recently that Johnny Depp has signed on to play Tonto in the Lone Ranger Movie that Disney is making, and he has signed on to play the Mad Hatter in the Alice in Wonderland movie by Disney.

They have had a few rides made Pre-movie... Countdown to Extinction was always planned to promote the movie Dinosaur. Heard it first hand from some of the imagineers during my 1998 CP. In fact that was the first I heard of the movie Dinosaur.

IMHO, They should change the name back to CTX.

I'm not that big of a fan of the POTC redo... The one scene that really bothers me is when barbosa is dunking the guy to find Jack's whereabouts... MAKES NO SENSE... No one in a town is going to protect Jack...

Now had they been looking for Will Turner, THAT would have made sense.

I'm surprised you haven't heard it... Its been on th boards here.

It was written by the POTC writers and they are trying to attach Mike Newell to direct (He did HP5).

Johnny Depp is Tanto.

It will be several years.

As for show elements, it depends on WHAT they add. If its a blatant Lone Ranger animatronic... yeah that sucks. If its subtle things, then it might not be to bad. It is in need of a long refurb though.

I too would be quite disappointed. It's the one classic that I would like to see stay the same. Sort of how I feel about Space Mountain as well.

The BTMR ride was very disappointing and we will definitely not ride again in October. I hope they do away with!:yay:
