Big Thunder Ranch BBQ Reservations

Just a warning to anyone that has reservations at BTRBBQ this week, it's supposed to rain every day which means the restaurant will be closed if it does. I received a phone call tonight from the park letting me know of this I will be super sad if my reservation is cancelled tomorrow due to the rain!! There's no way to reschedule all these reservations that will be cancelled with the restaurant closing in just a week. Hoping for good weather for everyone with reservations.

Crossing my fingers! We have a reservation for Friday. It's currently showing that day as no rain. But I know how quickly that can change...

Anyone know if they'll only close it for heavy rain? Or will light rain also shut it down?

Ours is for Wednesday night and I keep checking the weather with hopes that our reservation will not be cancelled but the forecast isn't providing tons of clarity or hope.

For example, Weather Underground is predicting about 0.6 inches of rain Wednesday, mainly between 11 am and 5 pm. Our reservation is for 5 pm, at which time they're predicting that the storm will have mainly passed (about a 70% chance of light rain tapering down to a few sprinkles).

If it rains steadily in the middle of the day and then tapers off in the evening, would they just: (A) close down for the middle of the day and reopen in the evening; or would they (B) close down for the entire day?

I'm hoping that since it's the last week the restaurant is open that Disney won't punt and just shut it down a week early due to the weather. If anything, I think they should bend over backwards to keep it running, given they're planning to shut it down forever (for example, couldn't they just cover the netting with some canvas?).

A lot of us, incuding myself, specificially booked for this week in order to have one last chance to eat here.

I don't know about yesterday, but I saw on Twitter that someone said they were called and told that their reservation for today (Tue) had been cancelled because the BBQ would not be opening. If that is true, that's unfortunate for everyone with reservations for today.

Bummer. Based on the forecast, it looks like our chances for tomorrow (Wednesday) are somewhere between slim and none.

The Dine Line CM told me that if it rains heavily enough the day before your reservation, enough to soak the ground, the canopies, and the tables, the restaurant will still close because it is too slippery and wet for guests and servers. If it rains steadily the day of your reservation, there is a very good chance the restaurant will close for the same reasons. If it is only drizzling or misting, it is up to the restaurant to decide whether to stay open or to close.

Good information. Since we had a reservation for tomorrow (Wednesday), we received a call from Disney Dining explaining that the restaurant will likely close all day tomorrow. We ended up switching our ADR to an indoor dining venue.

It pained me to cancel the reservation because it was our last opportunity to ever eat there. But the reservation likely would have been cancelled anyway and, even if it hadn't, I'm not sure how fun it would have been, given it still would have been cold and damp.

Even though we'll never have a chance to experience this again, I hope for others' sakes that they don't just decide to close it for good early in view of the weather.

Sad to hear this, not a good way for BTRBBQ to end. Hope that some reservations can still get the go ahead but hard to tell with weather.

Yeah, that is a sad way to end BTRBBQ. I wish they would extend it because of that. Incredibly unlikely. Wish I had a reservation since I am going this weekend. Hard for me to do reservations because I often make my plans between 1 to 6 weeks in advance. And this trip was a 1 week notice trip.

I know there is only 1 more day, Sunday, to go to BTRBBQ, so this might not be helpful. I was able to squeeze in today for lunch. Walk ins at 10:30a. I got there at 10am and there was already a line and I was about 7 parties back already. I was told that on Friday, yesterday, that for dinner there was a line way into Fantasy land and that only 6 parties got in from the walk in line. So if you are reading this, you might have good luck getting in line around 9:45a to 10a on the last day Sunday Jan 10, 2016.
