Anyone been lately? I had heard they lowered their prices. The food sounds good.

It's really really good! I was there in October and I couldn't even eat more than the first helping lol. The cornbread is super delicious especially :)

We were also there in October and really liked it. Our service was slow but I'm assuming that it's not always like that.

It's delish!! DBF and I really like it, the girls not so much but the adults loved it. Last time we ate there the 2 of us had 3 helpings of everything.....service is a bit slow but we still love it.

Boy, i feel like we are pigs compared to everyone else!
We went on the 1st of December, and it was AMAZING! With tip, it ended up being around $90 for me and the three kids. We went through 4 bowls of corn and 2 buckets of meat.
The cupcakes though, looked much better than they tasted.

We went for a late lunch in September and it was my husband's favorite meal of the trip (yes, even over Blue Bayou and Goofy's Kitchen). The food was great and the entertainment was fun. We were celebrating my DS's birthday and he was brought up on the stage to ring the triangle along to the music. It was very cute! And, the kids got their drinks in souvenir cups with color changing bendy straws - these are one of my favorite souvenir's from the trip and they get used every day.

Did they serve cupcakes for dessert? We didn't get any when we were there Dec. 18th. Is this open every night year round?

Pigs? What do you mean? You had 2 bowls of meat and 4 of corn, we had 3 bowls of everything...meat, cornbread, beans, coleslaw.....they don't do corn for lunch. :)

The cupcakes are not included, you have to order them seperately. They are not that good, ours were dry and yucky so we only had them once. It's open when the weather is good, if it's wet or rainy they close the BBQ.

Are reservations neccessary for Big Thunder Ranch BBQ? Can you just walk up and get a table? How long is the wait usually?

Can anyone who has eaten there recently share your experience?

many thanks!

We did have a reservation but we were 13 people. Kids and adults enjoyed it all around, service was great, food was good. We had one teen that is not much on meat so she opted to eat elsewhere after, there was no charge for her.

Does anyone know what the vegetarian option is at this place? I don't do meat with bones, but it looks like it would be fun.

My favorite meal at Disneyland. My FIL and I went while the girls all went to Airiels Grotto for a Princess breakfast. We both left full and satisfied! Loved the ribs and cornbread, beans and chicken were good as well. Probably drank our money's worth on the refillable pop as we didn't get pop too much in the park!!! Would give it 4 stars easily, maybe 4.5.

Reservations aren't always necessary but they're usually a good idea depending on the day and time.

It's been on our list of places to try for awhile, so on our last trip DGF and I decided to try it out on on 11/9 (our most recent trip). We didn't have reservations, I think it was around 11:30ish am when we walked up to the check-in counter. They walked us to our seats immediately, and our waiter was very friendly.

The food was pretty good. I personally don't care for ribs that are drenched in BBQ sauce and these ones were a little heavy on the sauce, but nonetheless tasty (if a tad spicy for my bland-loving tastes :rotfl:). DGF has even blander tastes than me, and she liked them a little more than I did. I will say that the meat had wonderful texture though, it was soft enough to fall off the bone but still chewy, and had just a small amount of chargrilled goodness. Chicken was absolutely wonderful too, though only if you ate it with some skin; I tried finishing a breast of chicken, but after several bites of just dry chicken with no skin I couldn't take anymore. Then I bit into a wing and was in love with it again :lmao:. We skipped the beans and cole slaw as neither DGF and I care for either generally. In all, we had two buckets of meat and two servings of cornbread, though we were unable to finish the second helping.

Our waiter noted that we would have been allowed to take home any leftovers of the food that had already been brought out to us, if we had containers to take them in (they don't have any to provide). So bring containers! :thumbsup2

Other notes: the show was simple and small, but entertaining enough, and even with the small crowd of people who were there (it was still pretty darn early for lunch), they managed to rope in a bunch of kids.

Also, we noticed a cast member with a golden CM tag walk by and we wondered what it meant, so we asked our server; he introduced the CM to us (if I remember his name later I'll edit this post to include it), and the CM then told us about how he was honored recently as one of just 500 or less cast members from WDW and DLR who received a special award for outstanding service. He was very friendly as well and we were glad to have met him and asked him about the tag.

Overall, lunch at BTR was a great experience. We saw plenty of desserts on the menu that we'd love to try but we were simply too full afterwards to even walk around much and go on rides, so we spent the next hour or two in Jingle Jangle Jamboree (time well spent too!). Food was great, service wasn't noticeably slow for us, and we got to talk with some really friendly cast members. We'll go back some day to try their desserts, but we don't usually have much of a budget for meals every trip, so we probably won't do a full meal again for some time. Still, I would definitely recommend everyone to try it at least once like we did :yay:.

We had our waiter take a picture for us at our table...

We have been there twice now on different trips and we have not used a reservation either time. Both times were prime dinner times and we only waited 10-15 minutes to get seated (party of 3 once and party of 4 once). But we have not been during a crowded park time as our trips were Jan of 2011 and May of 2012.

ManusDei thank you for the great review....you guys look so cute BTW :goodvibes. I am starting to think about our reservations for our upcoming DLR trip in June (this will be our first time) and this is one that I know my family will like :).

When we were a group of 11 we made a reservation, well it was for 9 because my girls aren't big BBQ eaters. LOL They did come in and join us for dessert though. Usually it's just DBF and myself and we are normally seated quickly without a reservation.

I get an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half iced tea) and I can drink about 5 of them. LOL

Cannot recall what though....sausage was good though, no bones in that.

Sausage is only served at dinner, just so you know. :) It is very good though! I wish they did ribs and sausage at lunch instead of chicken, I like the sausage better than the chicken.

I've never had anything at the BBQ that was "drenched" in sauce, in fact it's normally dry so we always ask for a side of sauce so dip in.
Did you try the beans or slaw at all? I'm not a huge fan of either but I like the beans enough to have a couple of servings and I devour the cole slaw, I like it so much that I have the recipe and make it at home. It isn't your normal 'slaw, if you didn't try it you should next time for sure. :)
They gave us containers when we asked (we tend to eat at the BBQ the day we leave, then we take some with us to eat on the drive home), but that was a while ago so they may not do that now. :)

the BBQ is good, the food is good, the service is good, the atmosphere is fun, we enjoy it quite a bit. And the desserts......OMG sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. We had the cookie sundae and the fruit cobbler, amazing!!!

Thanks so much for this review, it is very helpful!

What exactly does the "show" entail? Is this something my 2 and 4 year boys can participate in?

I would also just like to say your pictures are adorable! You two are super cute!!!
