Hi there, I haven't heard a lot about this bbq, it says it's all you can it with live entertaiment.

I need some input guys. Please let me know if you think it's worth it.
We're traveling in october, I have 2 DS (6) & (3) and my brother is flying from CR to go there. Kind of like a small gathering.

Can't hardly wait!!

We finally ate there last week. It was great :) and a real bargain for my 2- 6'2" DSs :) lol
it is all you care to eat, they bring it out portioned, but you can ask for seconds or thirds lol
We enjoyed it, but I have to say that tiny eaters probably would not get their $s worth. But it's very tasty :)

It depends on what you're looking for. If you have big eaters who like barbecue and can take advantage of the "all-you-care-to-eat" aspect, then it might be good for you. If you're looking for a character meal, be aware that they no longer have characters there - just the performers on-stage who do some western-themed song and dance kinds of things. The price is now $19.99 for adults at lunch, $24.99 at dinner. That does NOT include drink or dessert. Corn and sausage is offered at dinner but not lunch. The kids' price is $9.99 for either lunch of dinner.

I don't think it's worth it, but I also don't eat that much and am not interested in the entertainment.

I received an email from Disneyland yesterday in response to a question I had about something different. In their response they answered my original question plus gave me details about a few other things, one being the Big Thunder Ranch Celebration Roundup.

According to the email they are still running it and it still has Woody, Jessie and Bullseye. It mentions the all you can eat BBQ chicken and ribs and drinks.

I know some people here have said that it is not running the same way now but, as of yesterday according Disneyland Guest Communications it is :confused3

There were no characters on 8/13 when we ate there and they had the different menus for lunch and dinner. There were actually more diners there than we had seen in past months. I wonder if they have brought them back :confused3
oh well it was good and we will probably go back :)

It wouldn't be the first time that the information received from Disney was incorrect. I'd go with the information you are getting here and not with what Disney told you.

Thanks for letting me know. It would be sweet if the characters are there. We have never met Bullseye.

On the other side my DS (6) will eat bbq but not my toddler. For some reason they LOVE Hungry Bear and ask to eat there again.

I'm going to play it by year and give Disney a called on the same week, see what they say.

I'm counting the days!!

It's not likely that you will need a PS to eat here. If your DS3 won't eat BBQ see if they will let you bring him something in from Village Haus, they have burgers there. Or you could feed your DS2 earlier than the rest of you eat.

The BBQ is very good!!! We went when they had the characters but we like the price structure now much better. The food is sooooooooooooooooooooo good tho, I'm not sure why, but the BBQ sauce was just delish!!

Are there certain times of the year where it closes? We went last year during spring break and there was nothing there.:confused3

Sounds like you were there around the same time I was last year, when it was still under construction, with a wall around it :)

Sal, I called DL to make some dinning PS, I ask about Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue. I was told by the CM that they are open unless it rains (a lot) if it is a hard rain and lighting they will close. I also ask about needing to make a PS. She told me it wouldn't be necessary with my dates.

We really don't want to book all our meals, hope to really be able to just enjoy and eat when we are hungry. We have booked two dinners, one at Napa Rose and one at Ralph Brennens.

We were there last week and it was open, except when the weather was poor-ish (cold and windy with light intermittent rain). We made reservations at the Ranch, but ended up cancelling. When we made the reservation, she didn't mention a show or anything....

I'm pretty sure it didn't exist yet. They only opened last year and I think it was sometime in the Summer.

For me I really enjoyed it!! I was so full, it was the only meal I ate all day minus a snack or two :)

Thanks Angel!

Thats probably why..

I remember going there as a kid and loved it! I'm really eager to go back. :woohoo:

They just went back to 7 days/week starting today (was Thur-Sun only since New Years). The entertainment runs all day, with a set followed by a 15 minute break, then another set. The sets are not all the same, some are 30 min, some 15.

It's all you can eat, and fun for the kids, although the characters are no longer in the restaurant.

I was there last week, we had PLENTY to eat, and we left feeling fuller than we should have, the cornbread muffins were AWESOME the ribs were fall off the bone, the chicken was super moist, the kids gobbled up all the coleslaw and beans, the server was magnificent and the woman and two men who did the show on stage were a riot! they interacted with the audience, sang some funny songs and we had a great time! I will definitely put this on my list of places to visit the next time im there! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to go here for the 1st time next month. Sounds like a toned down version of Hoop De Doo Review in WDW. They don't have characters either but the show is great.
