Not in the house....thank goodness!!! But yesterday when I walked outside....there was a HUGE web....connected between our trailer and our boat in the driveway which are about 6-8 ft apart!!!!!! I was just amazed at how huge (and kinda pretty) that web was. BUT....right in the middle was the HUGE spider!!!!! It was one that I never saw before. I swear it looks like a baby tarantula!!!! I would say with its legs out it is about the size of a ping pong ball...and just as fat!!!!!

Anyway.....it is back again today....I can actually see it perfectly from my sunroom about 25 ft away!!!!

I wanted to catch it and take it to some exterminator place because it is such an unusual spider....it is actually brown and black striped legs.....and looks quite "hairy"....Let me "rephrase" that......I want my neighbor to catch it!!!....

What do you think....I know there isn't suppose to be any "poisonous" spiders in MI but you never know if some could be "transported" somehow from elsewhere....maybe I should just call a bug place and tell them about it....

ICK!!!!!!!! I wouldn't go near it. I'd either have my dh transport it to some other place far far away from our house, or if I was really concerned, then yeah, I'd call a bug person to take care of it. What freaks me out is that they have babies and then there could be tons of them around!!

We had a huge spider on our front porch one night this summer. It was about 3.5 inches in diameter including it's legs. And had a big body too. My dh put it down the gutter a few houses away from ours. LOL

That would have to go. I don't do spiders!

It really doesn't bother me since it is outside...although, yesterday it was "sleeping" in its web close to the boat....today it is close to the trailer.....I hope it doesn't make its way into the trailer...we may be using it this weekend!!!

I don't mind spiders as long as they aren't ON me! I love to watch those big ones like you described. We had one like that out on the kennel fence once, and I went out there every night to watch it catch big bugs in it's web and wrap them up for a later snack. The big ones are much more interesting than the little ones. I don't care for Daddy Longlegs, but the ones like you are talking about are really interesting. Don't hate them too much, they eat lots of other bugs! I don't think they are the kind that bite humans.

Um, I think that I would be getting a really LONG broom and BEAT IT TO DEATH!!!!!!!!! THEN take it where you want, they can examine the REMAINS!!!!! Spiders of ANY size are something I DON'T LIKE!!!

OMG......just went out to try and take a pic of it with my digital camera....as soon as I was about 4 ft from the web.....it took off!!!!! It is underneath the ladder on the back of the trailer now!! That was just freaky....it must have awfully good eyesight!!!!!

We have a really big spider like that and it builds some HUGE but absoutely gorgeous webs. I do not like bugs and I will scream like a little girl if one is in my house but personally I have a problem with going around and killing things that are doing what they are supposed to do and not bothering me in any way (in house, potentially in bed and biting me = bothering me... spinning a web and keeping my yard free of other pests = not bothering me). Just leave it alone, it's obviously more scared of you than you are of it.

Last summer there was tons of them here! We had just finished renovating our new house and was moving in, the yard had not been cleaned, I hear 3 little girls screaming at the top of their lungs. I go running out in the back yard and they are in the gazebo (which is going to be torn down) crying. They did not notice the trees lined up by the gazebo, but I swear, there must have been close to 75-100 HUGE spiders. Being the brave mother I am, I send hubby and gramps back there to get them. My father spent days spraying our yard, trees and gazebo to get rid of them. We call them banana spiders here. I have only seen 1 this summer and promptly got rid of him. YUCK!

we ever saw was in Arizona. It was so big my DH stopped the car to let it cross the dirt road 'cause he didn't want it to have any chance of getting on the bottom of the car and climbing up.
It was as big as a man's hand.
