Big debate between Poly, POFQ, BC or split stay!

I just booked my flights to Orlando for Feb 29th to March 9th 2016. I am traveling with my husband and my two kids (5 and 8 y.o.). We were thinking of starting our trip at Disney and saving the last 2 days for Universal Studios so that means we will be staying at Disney from the 29th of Feb to the 6th of March: 5 nights 6 days.

We usually love staying at POFQ for its small size, access to POR and boat ride to DTD but now I am considering the Poly or BC.

What happened was that we were supposed to go to Hawaii with the kids in March to renew our vows, but because of unforeseen events we had to cancel that trip. We had enough points to fly to Orlando so we decided to hold off on the vow renewal and go to WDW instead. The kids are ecstatic.

Since we had to scrap Hawaii and the vow renewal, I wanted to treat ourselves to a deluxe resort. I have already been to the Poly 2 years ago alone with my husband and loved it. It was my first experience in a deluxe resort. I would love to go back but the high price tag is what is holding us back. With the money I have to spend on the Poly I could pay for a whole other Disney trip later down the road. He is still willing to consider it if Disney releases a room discount.

My other option is BC which I have never been to. I really love the nautical look of the whole place and think the kids would have a blast in those pools. It is a little less expensive than Poly but my husband says he still prefers the Poly.

The last option is that we try to do a split stay. 4 nights at POFQ and 2 nights at Poly or BC. Will this be too hard on us since we then are moving to Hard Rock at Universal.

MY husband thinks the kids are too young to see the difference between POFQ and the deluxe and thinks it money lost but is willing to change if it make me happy. What do you think I should do?

Personally, I wouldn't do the three resort split. It's too much work! I tend to agree with your DH. While I personally prefer deluxes, my DS7 wouldn't know the difference. He is so happy just being somewhere new, having a pool, a playground and being in Disney! I think the choice is really yours.

What I would do is book POFQ now and keep your eye out for discounts. If Poly and/or BC are included in discounts for your time period and it brings the costs down a bit, switch! They are all great resorts!

Not sure if you've ever stayed at Hard Rock, but we love that resort, too! I think you will have a great trip!

I can speak to a split stay. Last year we did POFQ, then moved to Universal for 2 nights and back to The Polynesian. The way the room discounts lined up, this was the best (i.e. cheapest) way for us. It just really was not that big of a deal changing resorts and I am in no way laid back! We had a great time staying all 3 places. The Polynesian is of course much nicer (and monorail is very convenient) than POFQ but we enjoyed the whole trip no matter where we were staying. So if the only way to fit the budget is a split stay, i woildn't rule that out. And Disney will move your luggage between Disney resorts for you.

I LOVE split stays, but I wouldn't do a second split for that length of stay unless I absolutely had no other choice.

I would stay at the Poly, then move to USF. You want to treat yourself to a deluxe resort and the Poly is the best!!! BC is nice, but it doesn't compare well to the Poly, IMO. The Poly will be just finished all its renovations when you are going. Perfect!!

Enjoy!

This would be my choice as well. We've stayed at both the Poly and BC and while the BC is nice, I agree with Babsy that it just doesn't compare to the Poly. We have tried several resorts and while we have enjoyed every stay, the Poly is still our favorite.

Go with the Poly as your Hawaii replacement!

DH and I were planning on taking our girls to Hawaii for our 15th anniversary in 2017 (they would be 13 and 10 at the time) however, we had a surprise baby boy and aren't keen on taking a 2 yr old on such a long flight so we are now planning on Poly for 2017!

Thanks everyone. I just checked prices for Universal and it is so expensive to stay onsite at that time of year that we are debating just staying at Disney the whole time and just buying a park to park ticket to US and IOA for a day. That would make it easier to do a split stay and we could take advantage of magic express on our departure. One less expense. I am still going to wait for the discounts to be release to make my final decision.
