Cast of Characters:

*Big Daddy celebrating his 21st birthday. Hey that's what our server at Hard Rock Cafe said!
*The Grinch. That's me! I am nicer though and not as green.
*The Spongebobs. aka DD (9), DS (7). Spongebob fanatics with matching Spongebob shirts.

As we fell asleep at 10:30 the night before, I remember thinking that we should wake up early and be ready to go the next morning. We could possibly be the first to arrive at the parks! I was wrong. We awoke from our very refreshing slumber at 8:45. That seems to be the time we naturally wake up at RPR. Last August we awoke at that exact time each day of our stay. We had some breakfast in the room. I brought along pastries and fruit for this. We are not big breakfast eaters. The Spongebobs wore their matching Spongebob shirts. This is odd behavior as they would not be caught wearing matching clothes or have anyone think they have similar interests while we are home. But we aren't home. I called a friend at home (who cursed me) and she said it was 35 degrees and raining. I reported the Orlando temps in the 70's with clear sunny skies. This is when she cursed me.

We headed for IOA. We strolled over to Marvel and Big Daddy said his back wasn't feeling too great so he was going to avoid the coasters and such today. The Spongebobs wanted to ride Storm Force so off they went. I get sick just watching those type rides so Big Daddy suggested I try The Hulk. This was my first trip on the Hulk and it was exhilirating! I loved it. I knew what to expect but it was still exciting! After that, Girl Spongebob wanted to ride Dr. Doom (another first for us). Boy Spongebob wanted to ride too but he was just a hair too short. I think he will be tall enough when we go back in May. So the boys went to Spiderman while us girls zipped thru the express line for Dr. Doom. I love how you get on the ride through the elevator doors and it seems like you are just sitting in a little room. The anticipation of the launch made us anxious. Then whoosh! The launch was awesome! It's short but a thrill of a ride. We were facing the park and could see everything from the top. Very cool.

We went to our meeting spot in front of Spiderman and saw the Super Heroes ride in on their 4-wheelers while we waited on the boys. They finally made it out and the Spongebobs and Big Daddy had photos made with the Hulk and the X-Men. Then we headed over to Seuss Landing. Oh!! Look ahead. There he is! The Grinch! I had to get prepared! We had to take back the Grinch gloves DH got me the day before because we found a little hole in one of the fingers. He never checks things for flaws before he purchases. Men. Anyway, while the Spongebobs were getting autographs and Big Daddy was snapping photos, I put on my gloves. When they were finished, I pushed all the kids who were waiting aside. Ok...I really didn't do that but it sounded rather grinchy didn't it? I walked up to the Grinch and he took my Grinch gloved hands and started rubbing them and admiring them. He then gave me a kiss on the forehead! Ahhhhh...true love! Big Daddy snapped several photos. My friends back home will be so jealous! I walked back to my family and Big Daddy gave me the camera and said "watch this". He goes over to the Grinch and acts like he is going to try to pick him up. The Grinch looks down at him like "what are you doing?!". Big Daddy of course does not pick him up (bad back remember plus we didn't want to get ejected from the park) As he walked away, the Grinch shooed him off. Great photos, Great photos! On we went and saw Sam I Am. He stole Girl Spongebob's souvenir penny collection and ran away. She chased him down and did manage to get an autograph and a photo. He tried to steal her pen too. The Spongebobs were amused by his antics. He was stealing from other people too and following unsuspecting people around. We rode the Cat in the Hat and then headed to the Lost Continent.

We saw all the characters from the Sinbad show and took some more photos. Boy Spongebob declared Kabob to be weird. We didn't see the show this time, but had seen it in August. Girl Spongebob was anxious to ride Ice. Big Daddy didn't want to risk it with the sore back so he headed over to the Flying Unicorn with Boy Spongebob. DD and I rode both Ice then Fire and we both agreed to liking Fire better. We loved them both but Fire seems faster. I don't know if it is, but it seemed that way. I have read somewhere what the differences are, but I can't remember. We met up with the boys and both Spongebobs rode on the Unicorn once. Boy Spongebob said he thought he had already ridden 5 times. We decided it was time for lunch and I suggested we try Circus McGirkus because I knew the kids would like whatever they had there. Well, we didn't get very far until Big Daddy noticed a huge sign that said "Turkey Legs" at the Enchanted Oak. There we stopped. He did have the turkey leg, DS and I shared the chicken and ribs and DD had the macaroni which she wouldn't eat. All was good except for the macaroni evidently.

After lunch, Big Daddy who in addition to having a bad back also had blisters on the bottom of his feet, decided he wanted to go back to RPR and lounge around by the pool. The Spongebobs thought that was a great idea but were determined to get on the water rides beforehand. Big Daddy departed and the Spongebobs played for awhile in If I Ran the Zoo. I let them play hoping they would wear down and I would not have to ride the water rides. Don't get me wrong...I love the water rides. Although the temps were in the low 70's, it was a little breezy and I knew the water rides would be a little chilly. Well, they played a long time but did not forget about the rides. I tried stalling them at Spiderman.."C'mon let's ride Spiderman! Let's go look for more souvenir pennies. Maybe I will buy you something else. How about a pretzel or some popcorn." But nothing would deter them. The sun was nice and bright so I decided it would be great. Ok then, why is no one else in line? Oh and the few people who are in line are wearing ponchos. Why are they so afraid of water? We rode Ripsaw Falls first. It was great! I didn't get that wet! I love that ride. The last hill is so much fun. So we got back in the express line to ride again. I was sitting in the 2nd seat (where I had just sat on the previous ride) but I was behind a man in a poncho. He was intent on not getting wet. Well he should not have bothered to wear the thing because all the water went directly on me this ride. At the bottom of the train hill, the water came in a huge wave and hit me directly in the face and chest. We laughed and I have to admit it was a blast. Well obviously I wasn't wet enough yet so I let the Spongebobs talk me into Popeye & Bluto's. There was a short line for this. I did take off my shoes since they were still dry. No one else in our boat had on a poncho. See, there were others in the park just has foolish...I mean BRAVE...as we were. We naturally were soaked after riding. When the first big wave of cold water hit my back, it took my breath away! We departed IOA after this and walked back to RPR amid all the strange stares from people dressed in fleece jackets. Ok..maybe it was a little chilly for the water rides but these people all bundled up in jackets and coats were burning me up. It was 70+ degrees!

We got changed and headed down to the pool. I lounged by the poolside with a fruity concoction while everyone swam. At 4:30 Girl Spongebob declared she was finished swimming. She and I decided to head out to USF. We made plans to meet the boys at Margaritaville at 7:30. After changing, grabbing a quick snack and riding the water taxi over, we arrived at USF at 5:30. In an hour and a half we rode BTTF, MIB twice, Jaws, and Shrek. We would have had time to ride Jimmy Neutron, but when we got up to Shrek they had just stopped letting people in so we had to wait for the next show. Shrek was great as usual.

We walked over to Margaritaville and the boys had just been seated! The kids wanted to eat there so they could get balloon hats made by the people on stilts. I love the atmosphere there but we were seated upstairs where we couldn't see the volcano or much of anything else. When the volcano erupted, I got up to watch and stepped on my balloon hat and it popped. This was after fussing at the kids about laying their hats on the floor or on the table where they would easily be popped. Boy Spongebob's hat made him look like Kabob which we all pointed out. Remember that he had declared Kabob weird earlier in the day.

We finished dinner and headed back to RPR via the walking path. It was a very pleasant evening for a walk. We explored the hotel a little before retreating to the room to pack. Check-out is in the morning...Boo Hoo!!

Stay tuned for Day 3. We checked out but we didn't leave!
