Big changes to magic Kingdom ???

Whilst Wishes & Spectromagic were good productions, I think that Disney need to show something in return for the revenue that they have continued to take during this period of global recession.
I realise that these shows parades are not cheap to stage, but the year of a million dreams lasted longer that a year if you know what I mean and people will grow tired of the same thing over and over again
Maybe, they will put the Wishes display in the vault and bring it out for special occasions
What ever happens, I am sure that the replacement shows will be in a style that only Disney knows best

There is a youtube video of the announcement which states that the temporary changes will be from early June to sometime in August (a date to be determined). Doesn't look like it will be extended to September!

Oh that sounds quite exciting, I love the excitement of looking forward to new things

While I enjoyed Spectro & LOVED Wishes I'm always up for trying something new ....... & it's not really that long now till I'll be seeing what the new parade & fireworks are all about

It'll be good if the changes are until the end of August because then I'll be able to see them and still see Wishes!

I am really, really sad . Wishes is actually one of my favourite things in the world and although I loved the fireworks at the P&P Party, they lacked the sentimental magic of Wishes IMHO, and having not seen Wishes that year, I felt that I had missed out. I always hoped that one day I would be taking my own children to see Wishes and I know there will be another Wishes type show to replace it, but I can't lie I am disappointed and just hope that whatever replaces it is even more magical. When that little girls voice sings "Starlight, starbright, first star I see tonight," I get all choked up - I could cry now !

Looks like when I go in May, we will have to make the most of it! Hope they will still bring it out again for special from time to time though .

Those that get to see these fireworks are in for a treat over the summer, they are spectacular, not as sentimental but more fun i think with better effects, kind of sad they are only running them for the summer actually.

The way I read it, the Main Street Electrical parade (which I prefer to Spectromagic ) was being re-introduced temporarily along with the ToT changes - just for the summer. But I thought the fireworks show was to be permanent. It sounded like that at the beginning of the youtube video but after listening to the whole thing right near the end, the spokeswoman says its temporary for June and August and is a completely new show unlike anything at DL. Now I wish we were going May/June instead of April/May so we could catch both .

I would be gutted though if Wishes wasnt there anymore i sing that tune pretty much all the time haha Spectro was amazing back in the day but its old and worn now i would like to see them do something else

I am torn because I look forward to seeing new things but will be sooo sad if DH and I don't get to watch Wishes on our 1st anniversary like we did on our wedding night - yes, I am sentimental, and I can cry just listening to the soundtrack, lol!!

So many of my favourite Disney Princess songs are in it as clips (even Part of your World which is my all time favourite!!) and there's a bit where the fairies say how every princess belongs with her one true love.

Granted there's a little piratey bit, but romance wins and they looks fantastic! You'll have a wonderful night with either show!

That sounds good - I just love the Beauty and the Beast bit in Wishes - DH and I danced to it on an empty street in Frontierland on our first trip together in 2006, lol!

I have seen the new light parade in DL last summer and it is brilliant. I think it's better than Spectromagic, so everyone will enjoy it. My favourite bit was the dragon with the billowing smoke.

I agree with this, when we first visited Disney in 1990, they use to do a daytime thing around the EPCOT lake with Poo and tiger flying in on hang gliders, and I'm sure there was a firework dispay too.
