Big Changes for FASTPASS

Complacency results in folks falling behind. There is always something better to be discovered, to be invented, to be created. Change is an essential part of vitality, life, growth.

Everything about WDW is a way for Disney to make more money. The owners of the company rely on that fact, and the directors of the company have a fiduciary responsibility to achieve that.
::yes::

There would be nothing wrong with offering a special pass for onsite guest. Yes, they already have perks, but those perks are now being offered by other Resorts. Disney needs to stay ahead of the curve if it wants to survive. WDW is a very expensive place to run. ----I couldn’t even imagine the utility bill—LOL

The FP system isn’t broken, but it is not an exclusive perk. My father decided to stay onsite in August of 2000 because he was misinformed about FP being for guest only. I have even heard a kid in the park say “hey, that kid with a regular ticket just got a FP” This just shows that people staying on site want something exclusive. And why not, they did make it a point to stay on site, which is what Disney wants.

I think giving the impression that you are getting something special, when it is really available to everyone, is the way Disney will capitalize on FP.

I think they will offer a special fast pass for resort guest only and leave the regular fast pass machines up and running. When you get to the attraction, there will be a set of FP machines for resort guest and non-resort guess. I don’t think it actually adds a real benefit, but it gives the impression of one, so it is cheaper than actually inventing, funding and implementing a new benefit. Think of the time, money, and effort put forth for ME…….$$$

I would vote to keep it as it is, but give resort guests the ability to get a second pass while waiting for the first.

If they were to change and give out an alotted number of passes, I would think they could put all the FP machines up front, and allow you to plan out your entire day. It would be great to be able to get one ride in Tomorrowland at 10:00, a second in TL at 10:40, and a third at 11:15 making your entire morning all set with Tomorrowland....then onto the afternoon in Adventureland, etc.

If it was an integrated computer system, it could layout your day for you. Have touch screens, and you highlight all the rides you want to go on for the day and it could give you FP's for all of them to make the most of your day. Hey, they could even include a PS for lunch or dinner in there!

I like Dream1's idea. Universal does this, Express for offsite and unlimited express for onsite. They fill their resorts because of this perk. WDW has too many rooms to offer the unlimited FP, but to have a "special" FP system for resort guests would be a big perk.

I didn't read through this entire thread (I should! )
So maybe this had already been suggested....

I like the way it is, but I would think if they gave out one or two "extra" or "special" FP for each night that you stay on site....that would be a huge perk. Like put it on a ticket just like the park ticket.... and let you use them as needed.
Say you stay 5 nights....you get 10 extra FP and then you can use them whenever you want....all in one day or spread out. That way if you don't go to a park on one day, you won't lose that special benefit.

I don't agree with putting all the machines in one location or all together..... lots of people will walk up and decide on the FP by looking at the stand by line. :)

All the Kiosk in one location would be bad...real bad........The last thing I need is more places for people to bunch up and run me over with strollers. Do you need a license for one of those death buggies?--LOL

I like FP, but I would like it more if it had exclusive perks for on-site guest. Take that with salt. I always stay on-site.

I think FP's should be available to onsite guests only. JMO.

There have been requests to be able to get fast passes at a central location, or at the park entry, as opposed to have to go to each ride or attraction to get them.
Would prefer this to the current method. Since I frequently travel solo and use a power wheelchair if I have to run all over the place to get fastpases I run out of power. Not a good thing.

I agree with cindyfan. We choose to get a FP only if the standby line is longer than 15 minutes. If the machines were all located in a central place people would be having to choose their FP without the benefit of knowing the length of the standby lines for the rides they are interested in.

I understand the desire not to have to run back and forth between rides to get the FP, but I really think you need to know if a fast pass is really necessary for the ride you want to ride at the time you want to ride it!

:confused3

Right now you can get one fast pass at a time per ticket. I think they should leave that alone, but add the ability to use your room key to get an additional one ticket at a time. Inother words, Onsite guests can have 2 fastpasses and non resort guests can have one. That would not overwhelm the fastpass system, but yet give a perk to the on site guests. They could use the same machines for both types of fastpass too.

Universal's system is great if you are on site, but it does keep non on site people away(I still go occassioanlly, but only in the off season on a weekday-not nearly as often as I would go if FOTL perk went away)

I think they are giving fastpasses at the gate to track them to see what rides and what times they are used. I think it's a test to track the way people use them.
That's what I read too! Just a test to see how and when used.

that's a horrible idea!

cause what if you get 5 and have 6 people in your group? And all other combinations. I like it the way it is.

I don't mind if a few extras are given to resort guests, as an incentive to get guests to stay on property, but they should keep the FPs for others the same. We are locals and spend much time and mucho money at the Disney parks, not to mention Premium Annual Passes every year. It has to be fair to everyone, and other than as an incentive, to take it completely away is not very "Disney-like".

I hope they don't do any major changes with FP. Our family has been to WDW several times in the past few years and FP has been the only way we've gotten to ride some of the rides we wanted (and still got to see & do other things without having to stand in lines for hours). I think their system works fine, but they could use a little more PR (explanatory signs for the uninformed or otherwise challenged).

If the system wasn't efficient, I could see their changing things. First-come/first-served seems fair. After all, that's the way it would be if there WASN'T FP.

I think that fast passes should be given to DVC members ONLY.

(no flames please-just kidding)

I would just point out that I don't think there is any need to worry at this point. This was originally posted almost 2 months ago and nothing more has come about from this.

We stay offsite because of our large group and I will be so angry if we are nixed out of the fastpass. Our money is as green as everyone elses and that is just not fair to exclude off site guests. If you want to give them extra or whatever go ahead, but dont exclude others completely.

I like the idea of it given out by class of resort. I think that offsite shouldn't get the FP, values 3, moderates 5 and deluxes/DVCs 7. I think it would add an extra incentive for people wanting to stay at deluxe/DVC.

Just my opinion......

that's a great idea..as long as they also charge more for passes to those staying at deluxe/dvc..think of the prestige facter in knowing you paid more for your pass and fp than that single mother who saved for years to take her kids to WDW and could only afford a value

edited to add...see what character are you thread...there is a reason i'm donald

I just realized / researched something about fastpass ... all the times we have been to WDW we have stayed on site. Now we were told by numerous people that you have to stay in the park for fastpass and we just assumed it to be the case. After reading this post, I realize that fastpass is for everyone in the park. No matter where you stay.

My only question is that why do I always see people waiting for certain rides for over an hour ... ie Peter Pan? Wouldn't you expect more people to just get a fastpass and come back?

IThere should be more perks for staying at the deluxe resorts, but the only perk you can count on is a bigger room with bigger beds. Not worth the extra $$$$.

don't get this.. you don't have to stay in a deluxe unless you want to, i cna't count how many times i've seen some write( not necessarily avalache, just this comment made me think of it) how they would never stay in anything BUt a deluxe but now they think it entitles them to something else? i always thought the universal way stunk. the passes cost the same so imo you should get the same thing in the park. resort guests ( which is me) already get emh, free transportation( which a lot gripe about)and you pick what you want to pay for what hotel "amenities" you get...give me break it seems there is more and more :snooty:"disney lovers"
