BIG change to FP+ today

Nope, and I wouldn't risk trying to change any FP+ just in case it forces you into the tiers. I also printed out my FP+ selections as a back up plan, and did a screen shot on my phone.

I am so thankful I booked mine the day they opened! I do not plan to change them. I, too, have printed them all out, and I have taken screen shots on my phone.

What great luck for us! I feel bad for those who waited to do it, though. :sad2:

Like I posted yesterday, the boots on the ground report that people are not complaining about the tiered system at Epcot, so it's here to stay and it will spread.

Makes perfect sense.

What I hope some of the bloggers like Josh look at for us during the peak times are how the tiered vs non-tiered days are performing, i.e.:

How differently/quickly do the FP- times increment tiered/non-tiered for Soarin' and TT

What's the impact to Standby

Are they being more successful crowd spreading on tiered days, meaning what's happening at Maelstrom, Nemo, Figment, etc., vs non-tiered days

What's happening at the kiosks

These are some of the key return values/measurements the implementors and data managers will be looking at and it could be very insightful for us, as well- especially when measured against the historical flows.

Pretty sure Disney realized they had a problem once the Thanksgiving holiday window opened up and the amount of FP+ were being eaten up quickly on the MDE site. I have been told they are using a 50-50 split between old and new, but that only works until a large amount of people discover the new system and with that many people going over the holiday you better believe there was a huge increased demand.

It doesn't help, though, that the system 'forces' you to pick 3 right now, even if you don't want them.

I do too. I feel so sorry for people that are going during peak time, Christmas week, that are now limited in their fp+ choices! I truly feel for them. I am definitely not gloating.

And we're still only talking on-site guests......

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully it works out for everyone.

I'm here now (in WDW) & it seems like this just changed yesterday (or I already had others booked?)

Thank goodness that didn't happen while I was spending the whole week here!

My kids are older & I can definitely see how that would help ppl with smaller kids.

Who knows what this testing really entails.

Wait until the advertising blitz occurs. When Disney actually starts marketing this it is going to light up the attendance. They have a lot to highlight. It will take a long time for the spin to die down., by then pandora will be started and the mine train will be open, and downtown Disney will be revealed, and concept art of new Pixar rides will be discussed, and Star Wars cantina will be preparing to open for Star Wars weekend. The animal kingdom will have a new nighttime show. Look for prices to soar.

Yes you are right, I forget that most guests are not repeat visitors like me going a few times a year. I don't want to be tied down to a pre selected schedule, even getting table service meals on the run by just walking up and asking if anything is available. If there is, it is extra magic to me. I like the spontaneity. So i guess for me it will be all stand by lines once the original fast pass kiosks are gone. At slow times of the year and slow times during hours in the park there is rarely a long wait anyway.

I doubt many people would jump on and select only one, that would be like only eating one Lays potato chip. And the vast majority of people will select the major headliners. I realize that not everybody wants those rides, but the majority will.

I saw a blog on one of the other websites that Disney might actually prefer to do away with park hopping at some point. If part of the purpose is to more easily control crowds then it becomes much easier to do so when people stay put in the same park. Plus those half-day parks are more likely to become full day parks if guests can't as easily escape to Epcot or MK. But really who knows.

I've already been doing it for a while and it isn't pretty.

Great point (although we always spend a full day anyway).

Absolutely nothing, conform or be cast out.

:rolleyes1

In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out

In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out

In the Disney lines
At "Be Our Guest" he dines
Wear bands or be left out!

:rolleyes1

I think so.

But their biggest score is getting people to go to their minor attractions and better utilizing their existing infrastructure without engaging in an arms race with universal.

The itinerary feature on the app is deceptively good at this.

But, you can only fool them once with the old Stave Church trick.

Let's see... my headliner choices are Soarin', Stave Church, or priority viewing of the miniature Trains in Germany. :rotfl2:

Priority viewing of the miniature trains in Germany ? One would hope this attraction, if it is one, will be completely revamped and made to be something to see other than a cute pass by stop and look while walking through the area.

pixiedust: Don't feel sorry, FP+ will allow our continued relaxed approach to the world and all it's warm sunny Holiday Glory, and now allow access to FP's, while not necessary-we never had before. pixiedust:

Celebrating-most definitely not gloating. :beach:

Like I posted yesterday, the boots on the ground report that people are not complaining about the tiered system at Epcot, so it's here to stay and it will spread.

That makes no sense, most of the people there now choose their FP+ before the tiers were instituted so how would they know if people are going to complain? Not to mention that fact that as of right now you can still pull fastpasses for the other headliners so it it doesn't affect people as much as it will in the future.

There are still tons of people selecting day of.

I can see they will have confused first time guests wandering around the parks. I think this benefits frequent visitors who understand the system and the lay out of the parks the most.

This might be the case I think until they fully roll out. Because I think once they do they will advertise the heck out of it.
